Anyone doing Super Bowl Squares? I came across this list of the occurence of each combination throughout Super Bowl history -- I'd rather see data using all games, but what can you do? (that's not rhetorical)

0, 7 = 19
0, 3 = 15
0, 0 = 12
0, 4 = 10
4, 7 = 10
3, 7 = 10
3, 6 = 7
7, 7 = 6
3, 4 = 6
3, 3 = 6
0, 9 = 5
0, 6 = 5
6, 7 = 5
0, 5 = 4
0, 2 = 3
1, 7 = 3
1, 5 = 3
0, 8 = 3
6, 8 = 3
1, 4 = 3
0, 1 = 3
7, 9 = 2
4, 9 = 2
2, 7 = 2
6, 6 = 2
5, 9 = 1
8, 9 = 1
2, 9 = 1
6, 9 = 1
1, 6 = 1
1, 8 = 1
2, 4 = 1
1, 9 = 1
2, 8 = 1
4, 4 = 1
1, 3 = 1

My best combo, according to this, is 7 (NYG), 6 (NE). I'd have thought it would be 1 (NYG), 4(NE).

I'm surprised how high 0,0 is.

are we talking final game scores?

i have squares that pay each quarter

These numbers add up to 160, so I assume that it's referring to the end of each quarter for the first 40 Super Bowls.

I'm surprised how high 0,0 is.

Yeah, it seems like based on this, 0,0 is the best square to have -- if you have 0,7 then you only win in half of those 19 instances.

With all those numbers, I'm guessing that's how many times each box has hit per quarter right? That explains why 0/0 is high (no score after 1) and why 7/6 beats 1/4 (much harder for a 1st quarter to end 21-14 than 7-6).

I posted about how my office pool operates in another thread, so I'll just quote myself:

Some co-workers and I do a MNF box pool that's similar to the typical Super Bowl pool where you get a pair of numbers, and the score decides who wins the money. The variation in ours is that only the final score pays out, and only 25 people are in the pool, with one box each. Therefore, only 25 combinations are assigned, leaving 75 open. If no one wins, the $250 weekly prize accumulates to the next week. Your box location remains the same each week, but the numbers are generated weekly so you'll have different combinations.

The last 6 MNF weeks didn't result in a winner, so by rule we take the funds to the Super Bowl. In order to ensure a winner, we each got 3 additional boxes so now the 25 people have 4 boxes each and someone will win. $500 for halftime, $1000 for the final score.

This pool during the season is a lot of fun and keeps you interested in MNF; highly recommend you guys start it up with your friends/co-workers.

I hadn't thought about the quarter effect. I think I've only played where the final score was counted.

There's a web page somewhere that ran the final score of every quarter of the 2006 NFL season.

I combined that with the Super Bowl information to put together a priced pool where you paid for the squares and knew the numbers before you paid.

Then this hard drive crashed.

Found a page (not the one I had seen previously):

Super Bowls 3, 9, 11, 26, 38, and 39 were all scoreless after one quarter.
Super Bowls 12, 22, and 30 were 10-0.
