I have always been a fan of the Musical Genre, and I am glad to have seen a revival of sorts with Chicago and Mulan Rouge the last couple of years. I am hoping that the trend continues with more over the coming years.
So my question is waht is your favorite musical. Personally I am partial to The Music Man.

I loved My Fair Lady as well, except I hate what they did to the end. Eliza wasn't supposed to go back to Higgens

An old girlfriend introduced me to Les Miserables. That's pretty much the only one I know at all.
The Producers is currently my favorite.
Gotta love the song "Springtime for Hitler" :D

The best live show I've ever seen was the revival of Cabaret that was recently on BWay.
Others that I'm partial to:
Rent
Into the Woods
Sweeney Todd
Les Mis
Hedwig and the Angry Inch (the live show was so much fun)
Falsettos
Little Shop of Horrors
Brigadoon
1776
Glad to hear there are others out there who still like musicals. I thought I was the only one.

I saw Les Mis while I was in the UK two months ago. Unfortunatly jet lag kept me from enjoying it as much as I could have.

Les Mis. Also, Rent was pretty cool... I got to see it when Doogie Howser was the star.

Although far from politically correct in this day and age, it is a fun movie. :)

Also, while I think West Side Story is clearly the best musical ever, it amazes me that no one has mentioned The Wizard of Oz. Have we all become so old and corrupt we can't remember the innocense of our youth?

I've seen Les Mis three times and I never tire of it. I'm also a big fan of Mulan Rouge. One stage and one film, there ya go.

Well I ran the light board in highschool for a number of plays.
I enjoyed the King and I alot. Into the woods was pretty good aswell.
I saw the video of Les Miserables, and It was very good, albeit a bit long. Moulon Rouge is probably My favorite new musical.

Moulin Rouge is my favorite on screen, though Beauty and the Beast comes close (does that even count as a musical?).
On stage, now that is difficult. I really really enjoyed the Man of La Mancha, but I don't know about it being the best...I'd say that my all time favorite musical that I have seen personally is a toss up between
Cats
The Phantom of the Opera and
Rent
All three were phenomenal.
EDIT: I haven't seen many of the musicals that I really want to...as a college student, not much of a chance to go financially or geographically. I've never seen, but have heard rave reviews about Les Miserables, the Music Man and many others, so that may have colored my vote.

Man of La mancha is a great one too.
I need to get back to the theatre - I haven't been in too long.

Phantom of the opera

ACStrider: I can't believe I forgot Godspell (getting forgetfulness in my old age). I saw the original in NYC and I think that is the one movie/musical that defines me and my upbringing.
Tarkus: Unintentional pun. The innocense was referring to the more carefree days of the late 60s/early 70s (see above).
