Who do you think is the best player right now? You can use whatever reasoning you want; most valuable, best potential career in the NBA, whatever.
If you want to argue for someone else, go ahead.

I am not sure if he is the best its hard to tell nowadays, but Reece Gaines can ball so thats who I voted for. TJ Ford reminds me of Jason Kidd with a little bit better jumpshot that has improved.

You should really have a "none of the above option"
There isn't really an MVP type player this year. However, outside of West, you take away these guys from their teams, and they are still ranked where they are.

Steve Blake
yeah im biased as hell but here goes. Great college career, four year starter, 2 final fours and one national championship. IMO best true point guard not just this year but last year too. If needed could turn it on as a scorer, can penetrate or drain the three (43.2%). Plays outstanding D. Last year it was him not Dixon, another outstanding defender, who was trusted to guard Jay williams and did a damn good job of it. Plays in the toughest conference in the country. Can go into a harsh environment like cameron and be totally unshaken. IMO could be a very good pg as a pro if given the opportunity which he most likely wont be. I would love to see him take the offense into his own hands and put up the big time points #s but he is too much of a team player and never will do that.

Chris Massie should be on the list.
Six straight double doubles. He is a man among boys.

Josh Howard, TJ Ford, and Hollis Price impress me the most.

Props to West for elevating X's team.

Reece Gaines or Dwayne Wade (ok so I'm being a homer). Too bad Gaines left Madison to go to Louisville ... then again, I don't blame him for leaving home to avoid Dick Bennett slow-down basketball.

Screw Craptacular and his C-USA anti-Cincinnati support. :)
I could never vote for Gaines or Wade :(

C'mon Shorty, Cincinnati has had enough success in CUSA!! It's OK for another team to win once in a while!

I can't believe Cinci actually recruited Robert Whaley. I was embarassed enough when Mizzou kept this guy more than a day after his "night of passion" with his 13-year old neighbor. I try to blow off anti-Huggins people as jealous, but if Whaley is going to be a Bearcat add me to the list.
(Before you rip me too bad realize that my whole family is from the queen city. I love the Bengals and Reds with a passion and argue with my cousins every Christmas that Xavier is nowhere near the program of UC. But Whaley is just bad news. Just bad news.)

he may not be as gifted as Anthony, but I enjoy watching no player more than Kirk Hinrich.

Whaley was born to be one of Hugg's Thugs. Don't worry, if recent history (past decade) holds true, he'll take a couple years of punishment from Xavier.
Oh and, Vote West!!!

Best college basketball player?
No question in my mind:
Diana Taurasi.
The men's game:
TJ Ford or Carmelo Anthony.

I feel biased for thinking Brian Cook. ;) Or maybe Dee Brown.
Carmelo Anthony
This boy got game like a muthaf*ck@! He's the total player inside and outside scoring. He's averaging 21.8ppg 9.6reb and is his team's leading scorer as a true freshman. Also a Top 5 pick in the NBA Draft whenever he comes out. Simply said he is a bonafide talent.....
T.J. Ford
Like HornedFrog Purple said he reminds of Jason Kidds but with a jumper(although its still improving) he's got alot of talent and the drive to get better. He's currently averaging 15.0 ppg 3.8 rpg 7.1 apg 2.2 stls and he just screams team player. Since he has arrive Texas has improved in the area of basketball.
My vote: T.J. Ford

even though he is nowhere near those players yet, if he does stay all four years, Daniel Horton of Michigan will be a potential top 10 pick.
I think it's safe to say all those guys will though, too.

Got to go with Collison. But of course, I'm a little biased. :D

Memphis has the inside track to the C-USA title IF Louisville beats Marquette.

Easy Mac- I agree with the lack of a single dominant player, but I think that Wade has just as much impact on his team as West. West even has Romain Sato on his team, who can step up and win a game from time to time.
If we are basing it on pure talent, I would say Carmelo easily. After LeBron and Milicic, he is probably the most anticipated player by the NBA. However, when I think of who the best is, I go with who wins games. I'm kind of torn between Dwyane Wade and TJ Ford, but I think I'd have to go with Ford in the end. Having a dominant point like that would be tough to beat.
Also, one of my friends tells me that Hollis Price played an entire game with a seperated shoulder. Anyone know if that's true?

When? it wasnt at the Kansas OU game. I think this poll is pretty biased. Im sure most basketball fans here have only seen maybe one or too players on the list, so how can they know how great other players are. Ive only seen Hollis Price play, and without him, the sooners would not be as good. But I havent seen theses other guys play, so I have no idea who is really the best player.

dola here, but would some people mind posting stats for the people they think are the best? Here are Prices stats.

And here are his totals
23 Gms

I just dont see that T.J. Ford is a better player, He isnt as consistant as Price, he is averaging less ppg. Explain how that makes him a better player???

I know I'll get a lot of disaggrement on this one, but all stats aside, I think Kirk Hinrich is the best college basketball player right now, and I'm not even a Kansas fan.
