Long time no type..hello all.

My recent career as a district manager for an international grocer is now fini.

I'm looking to get into something more aligned with my degree (B.S. Finance)

There are seemingly a million opportunities with brokerage/investment firms. I'm extremely wary of these as they all purport the whole bigger, better, we're the best. Make as much $$ as you can...type of deal. My perception is that they just hire scads of people, one in ten sticks. The other nine get their friends/family to invest, and then just slink around on bad leads until they can't afford to work there, or just get very annoyed with the whole thing & leave. That's just my outside view.

Is there anybody here that has experience with the industry and could give me a first hand view? Good questions to ask to sort out reputable firms versus what I fear them to be?

You should only look for work in the brokerage business if the only thing you care about is making oodles of money, and if you think long hours and shitty working conditions are cool.

I don't know much about what you can do with a degree in finance, but I would think there are better options out there.

Did the Cavs fire you as head coach yet? Cause I'm saying Damn, Mike Brown all the time when I watch him coach.

How about using your manufacturing degree to work as an analyst for a public traded company. They need people to analyze their accounting activities as they consolidate the figures up the company and out to the public. You have alot more company choices that way.
