Doh! Thought I was going to make this one, but we went out to eat with my dad after I got off of work.

If I get time tonight I'll do a recap of the tourney from my hand perspective. I thought I played some pretty good poker up until I went out on the bubble. I thought I had a pretty good read on johnny, but he made a great call with top pair and a flush draw to bust me. I did put him on the flush draw correctly.

Johnny played great -- most guys would have busted out earlier when I came over the top on him with good hands. He made some great laydowns and bided his time -- then he busted me. :)

I raised to 1800 before he told me what he had, and he raised 250 more for all-in -- regardless of what I had, there was 4550 in the pot and I had to call the final 250.

In my stupor and the haze of bad beats I suffered last night outside the FOFC table, I thought that hand was more devestating than it was. I still had a nice stack until I pissed it away with AKs preflop.

Probably not the wisest call I've made, but I figured you were trying to push me around...as you did an excellent job of it the entire night. I definitely was happy to see two overs and only one club...that's for sure.

I'll be anxious to see your summary...there were a couple of hands that I thought I had you on but you pushed hard enough to get me to chuck 'em...would be curious to see if I had a good read on ya or not.

I'll definitely do it ... although it will probably be my undoing. The two aspects of my game I've really been working on lately has been to play tighter early and then once I get a stack be more aggressive with my continuation bets and be more consistent with my raising. I had a bad habit of not betting enough to force people to make decisions -- that is, I would be little enough that a draw might call me and suck out, rather than take the pot down now with a big bet. I got kind of on a roll and was betting pretty forcefully -- you just had the misfortune of sitting to my right and getting the brunt of me coming over the top on you -- it wasn't personally. Until you busted me, that is ... :)

Trust me, it wasn't long before I realized that I had the misfortune of being to your right as there were several SB hands that I normally would've raised with but found out very quickly that I'd better be willing to go to the mat with them otherwise you'd do your best to push me out of the pot...more often successful than not.

Well, here's my perspective hand-by-hand. I did have a lot written out, but I shortened it a lot. Took out most of the hands that ended before the flop. Now you all get to see how bad of a poker player I really am. :)

primelord joined, but was late getting to the table. We fly around the table with only 3 active people, mostly folding. Not to purposely make primelord lose chips, that was just a happy side effect of the short table. :)

Hand 3: BB, I get dealt AA. It gets foled around to me. Damn!

Hand 6: UTG, J7 clubs. I limp and kcchief checks the BB. Flop comes Jd 2c Kd. kcchief checks, I bet 60 and take the pot. (stack: 1530) johnnyshaka shows up. primelord still sitting out.

Hand 12: BB, K4 diamonds. radii raises to 3BB from 1st position and I call. Normally I'd fold but with only 4 active people at the table, I think getting a king is all I need to win the hand, plus a king high flush or flush draw would be nice too. Flop 8h Jh 3c. Completely missed. I check, radii bet 80 and I fold. Stack: 1500

Hand 16: UTG, KJo. I raise to 4BB and kcchief calls from the BB. Flop is 6d 4h 6c. kcchief checks, I bet 100 hoping to steal the pot, but the bastard check-raised me to 300. I fold. Stack: 1310

Hand 19: BB, A9o. I try to limp, but radii raises to 3BB. I decide to call. I think he might have just been trying to push me out, seeing my limp as weakness (which it was...). Flop 4c Td Ts. radii bets 80 and I fold. Stack: 1220

Hand 27: primelord shows up just as this hand starts. He was blinded down to 1320. I'm in the BB, AJ clubs. radii raises to 3BB from UTG, I reraise to 100 and radii calls. Flop 9d 4c 6c. I got the flush draw and bet out 60. radii folds. Stack: 1330

Hand 29: Button, 44. I limp in and radii raises to 60. I'm prepared to call the raise when primelord decides to reraise to 200. I fold. radii called the raise and took half of primelord's stack. The flop was Jc Kd Jd, primelord bet 300, and radii pushed all in. primelord folded.

Hand 32: BB, KJo. kcchief raises from the SB to 60 and I call. Flop is 4d Qd Jd. I hold the King of diamonds, so I flop a king high flush draw and a pair of jacks. kcchief checks to me. I should have betted here, but I check to get a free card. Turn: Ad. I got the nut flush and kcchief checks. I bet 60 and kcchief folds. Oh well. Stack: 1360

After the last hand, panard bit the dust and the tables were merged. 9 left, and a full table now. I tighten up my play, or atleast try to, at the point.

Hand 41: BB, J8 diamonds. Maple Leafs (smcindoe is Maple Leafs, right?) completes the SB and I check. Flop 2c Qh 4h. Missed. Check, check. Turn: 3h. Maple bets 60 and I fold. Stack: 1290

Hand 43: Button, Q7 spades. I limp, Barkeep checks BB. Flop Ad Jh 7d. Bottom pair, longshot straight draw. Barkeep checks, I bet 30 and he folds. Stack: 1320

Hand 53: AA in late position. Wahoomac raised to 60 UTG, I reraise to 120 and he calls. Flop 7h Th 9s. Wahoomac checks, I bet 180 and he folds. Stack: 1485

Blinds 25/50

Hand 65: Midposition, AQo. I limp, primelord raises all in but only has 391 chips left. It's 341 back to me, and I'll still have over 1000 chips if I lose so it's a pretty low risk call for me to possibly knock a player out. Considering this also could be a desperate attempt to steal the blinds and my limp bet, I decide to call. primelord shows KTs (diamonds). Flop is 9h Ah 4d, Turn comes 2s and the river shows Tc. primelord goes out in 8th. Stack: 1876

Hand 70: Here's a hand I think I might have played wrong. On the button with 88. Maple raises all in to 767 in front of me. There's still two people to act and I have to decide what to do. I never liked going into a hand with pocket 8s on down, but if I was sure I could get this matchup heads up, I might be inclined to do it. But 2 were still to act, one was Barkeep, who had become the large stack at the table with 3300 and change. The play I probably should have made (the one that would be correct by the book) would be to reraise to make sure the blinds stayed out of it and took it heads up. But, I folded. The blinds folded as well.

Hand 72: Midposition, QJo. I limp and cartman in the BB checks. Flop 4d Jh 2d. cartman bets 50, I reraise to 150 and he calls. Turn 9c. cartman checks, I bet 200 and he folds. Stack: 2176

Hand 76: radii had left us and we were down to 7. Another pocket pair, 99, in BB. Different circumstance this time. Barkeep UTG had raised 3BB. That alone might get me to fold a mid pocket pair, a strong player raising from UTG, but Maple pushes all in, and this time it's 1487 to call. I fold as does Barkeep. Maple said he was holding a pocket pair on the hand, but didn't say what pair.

Hand 79: A6 spades in midposition. I limp, Wahoomac completes the SB and cartman checks the BB. Flop 2h 9h 4h. Check, check, check. Turn 3s. Check, check, check. River: 9s, cartman puts out 100, I decide to call just incase Ace high happens to be good enough, and Wahoomac folds. cartman shows 54diamonds, and wins the pot. Stack: 1951

Hand 81: QJo, 2nd to act. I limp, johnnyshaka completes the SB and kcchief checks the BB. Flop 7d 4s Ks. Check, check, check. Turn 7c. I throw out a 100 bet, and get them to fold. Stack: 2151

Hand 182: 92s in the BB. Wahoomac pushes all in, 296. kcchief calls and it's only 96 to me so I throw that pocket change onto the table. Me and kcchief check it down. Flop is 6h Qd 7d, Turn 4d, River Kc. kcchief wins with a piar of queens, better kicker (QJ). Wahoomac held QT. Wahoomac finishes 5th. We go to the bubble.

Hand 192: A6o on the button. I limp, johnny checks. Flop Kd 4c 5h. I bet 400, johnny folds. Stack: 4079

Hand 206: kcchief was gone and we are down to the final 3. johnnyshaka had basically taken all of kcchief's chips, so he became the large stack at the table. A6 1st to act. I raise to 600, johnny calls. Flop 5h Jh Js. johnny bets 600. I call (probably a mistake). Turn is 7d. johnny bets 1200 and I fold. Stack: 2879

Hand 207: 86o in BB. cartman limps, I check. Flop is 2c 8s 6c. I check, hoping cartman will bet so I can reraise him, but he chacks. Turn is As and now I'm hoping he has a pair of aces. I bet 400 and he folds. Stack: 3229

Hand 209: A2o 1st to act. I limp, cartman completes SB and johnny checks. Flop is Th Jh As. cartman checks, johnny bets 600 and I raise all-in (2879). By now johnny's stack was 3 times the size of mine, and nearly 4 times the size of cartman's. I needed to start gaining ground if I wanted any chance of winning this thing. I was either going to double up my aces, win this pot now or be out. cartman folds, as does johnny. I show my A2, and johnny is none too happy. He says he had me beat with a better kicker.

Hand 211: 76s in SB. I complete SB, cartman raises to 600. I call it. Flop 7s 8d 5c. Midpair with open ended straight draw. cartman bets 600 and I call. Turn is Kc. cartman bets 600 and I call. River is Qh and I'm ready to fold to just about any bet, I check but then cartman checks as well. I take the pot with my pair of 7s (he had AJs). Stack: 5779

Hand 212: 44 1st to act. I raise to 400, which would nearly put cartman all in. He does go all in. johnny calls the bet (217 more to him) and I call (only 17 more to me). Me and johnny check the entire way. Flop Th 7d 2h, Turn 7h, River Ks. cartman wins with pocket tens.

Hand 216: KJs in BB. johnny completes and I check. Flop 3h 3s 6c.I bet 800 and johnny folds. Stack: 5112

Hand 225: Q3o in BB. cartman pushes all in to 626. It's only 226 for me to call and there's over 1200 in the pot. I call hoping to get lucky, knock cartman out and give me a chance against johnny. He shows KTo. Flop 9h 4h 3h, River is 5h and Turn is 4s. cartman held the king of hearts, so he got the flush and the pot. Stack: 3536

Hand 231: J5o in BB. johnny completes the SB, I check. Flop is Js 5c 6h. johnny bets 800 and I push all-in (2861). johnny folds. Stack: 4536

Hand 232: T8s (diamonds) in SB. cartman is in the BB and gives half his stack to pay it. Knowing he's probably already pot commited with whatever hand he has, and that mine has a decent chance of holding up against any random hand, I raise to make him go all in if he wants to see the flop. He calls and shows Q3o. Flop 5s 3d Ts, Turn 5d, River 6c. cartman goes out in 3rd. Stack: 5413 (to johnny's 9587)

It was about this time that PokerStars started to really lag, and we both kept getting dropped near the end. We played a little over 20 hands heads up, so I'll only show the important ones, instead of all of the hands I was involved with. It might also become apparent that I have not gotten to Dan Harrington's 2nd volume yet.... :)

Hand 237: J3s. I complete SB, johnny raises to 1200 and I call. Flop is Th 6c Kh. johnny bets 1200 and I fold. Stack: 3538

Hand 242: JJ in the BB. johnny raised to 1200 and I call. Flop is 2s 3s 7c. I bet 1200 and johnny folds. Stack: 5413

Hand 247: Q3o in SB. I complete, johnny checks. Flop is Jc 7c Tc. johnny checks, I bet 800 and he calls. Turn is 8c. I have the queen of clubs, giving me the queen high flush. Johnny checks, I bet 1200 and he reraises me to 2400. If he has me beat, he has me beat. I push all in (3938). he folds. I show my hand and see a familiar response from him. "damnit!!!". Stack: 8788

Hand 254: stacks nearly even (he had about 600 more than me). A9o in BB. He raised to 1200, I call. Flop is 4s Kh 2c. I check, he bets 1200 and I fold. Stack: 5963.

Hand 256: A3 in BB. johnny raises to 1800 and I call. Flop comes Ad Ac Qc. I bet 1200 and johnny raises all-in. After being disconnected TWICE, I finally get to call. He shows Q9 and my trip aces hold up. Stack: 13226

Hand 257: 76o. I raise to put him all in and he calls. To be honest, I probably would have waited for a better hand, but with the constant disconnects, I wanted to just ends this as fast as possible. He calls and is all in with QTo. Flop is 3s 6d 9d. Turn 3d, River 4c and I win with a pair of sixes.

GG johnny. Would have been better if PokerStars didn't act all "DEE-de-DEE" on us at the end. :)

Figured I'd jump in with my own summary...enjoy!!

I joined in late...but only a couple of minutes, so everybody's stacks were right around $1500.

The second hand I saw was pocket fives and with only 5 players at the table I figured it would be worth a raise...even UTG...so, I pushed out a 4X BB raise and took the blinds. (1530)

The next hand I played was a couple minutes later, [Js 8s] in the BB, calling a min raise by radii. I flopped top pair and a gutshot straight draw [7s Jh Th] and called radii's pot-size bet after checking first. The turn is [Kc] and we both check and the river comes with another club, the 3. I bet about half the pot thinking that radii might have been on a flush draw but ready to lay it down if he comes over the top. Well, after he told me that he thought he had me, he called and flipped over ATd. Sweet. (1790)

After a couple of limps and missed flops and a couple of blind steals, the two tables become one and I've got about 1800 chips to start at the final table and get plunked in between Matt, to my left, and cartman, to my right...oh goody.

Finally get a hand worth playing after about 5-10 minutes at the final table, [Ah Kh]. I'm in late position and two limp in before me, so I raise it to 120...4X BB. I get one caller and the flop [3s 8c 8s] comes and I wasn't all that impressed but figure I should represent a monster with a bet to see what I'm up against and bet half the pot. Smcindoe folded and I picked up my first pot, 330, at the final table. (1920)

Didn't see another flop for about 15 minutes when I limped in as the small blind with [Kc 6d]...matt checked. Flop [6h 7s 8s] gives me bottom pair so I figure that I'll bet this and see where it goes and throw out a pot sized bet and matt calls. The turn is [3d] and I throw out a continuation bet and matt calls. Hmmm...flush draw perhaps?? River comes [4h] and now I figure I might as well throw out another bet and hope he thinks I hit a straight and sure enough, a 200 chip bet chases him away. (2150)

A little while later, matt and I tangle again. This time I'm in the SB and limp with [Ac 9d] and matt checks. Flop [8d 8h Qs] doesn't help me at all so I check and matt does as well. Turn is [9h] and figure I'd throw out a bet to see if matt had anything...matt calls my pot sized bet. The river is [7s] and I'm not all that confident about my pair of nines so I check. Matt puts out a half pot bet. Thought about this one for a little while and ended up calling but lost to his two pair, queens and eights. Definitely a dumb call. He called my raise on the turn and I should've figured he had to have an eight, a queen, a flush draw, or a pocket pair. Then when he bet on the river, not a big bet by any means, that should've told me that he did have a piece of the flop and that I was beat. Oh well, live and learn. (1800)

Once again, matt and I tangle when I limp in SB with [Jd 8d] and he checks. The flop [2c Ts 2s] obviously doesn't help me but I decide to throw a bet out anyways and matt calls my half pot bet. The turn is [Qd] and I check while matt bets a third of the pot. I figured I'd push back a little bit and reraised it up to 300 and then he promptly reraises it by 500. Hmmm. I'm guessing he's got me on a flush draw draw and he's probably got a deuce. Wow, definitely not a good idea to continue on with this bluff and I fold. I wasn't very happy with myself after that hand. Sheesh. Well done, matt...I'd be curious to know if you did have the deuce? (1125)

Next time the blinds came around I caught [Ah 7h] in the SB and limped in while matt, once again, checked. Here we go again. Flop is [Ks Ad Jd] and I bet my ace and matt didn't want to play this time and folded. Glad he folded there. (1125)

Up to this point I hadn't seen much in the way of playable cards and really only got involved when I was in the blinds...and didn't do very well with those hands at all...so when I finally started to see some cards, I started to change gears. About an hour into the tourney with seven of us left, I was about a hundred chips away from being the short stack and I had [Ah Jh] in early position and raised. Everybody folded and I picked up the blinds...definitely need all the chips I can get at this point. (1275)

A couple of hands later I raise with [Ah Js] and again I pick up the blinds. (1275)

In the BB I checked with [Qc 6h] with one caller in front of me. Flop comes [9s 7c 8s] and I've got a straight draw but still check while wahoomac bets half the pot. Probably should've folded here as I was pretty short stacked but I had pretty good pot odds to support a call here and do just that. The turn is [Ac] again I check and then fold to a pot sized bet. Definitely should have saved my chips and folded after the flop or pushed after the flop with my puny stack. (1075)

A little while later I am now the short stack and see an ace and push immediately and pick up the blinds. Time to grind...woohoo!! (1025)

We're down to five and I'm still the short stack...everybody has about 3X my stack or better. UTG, matt raises and with [Ac 9c] I figure I'm probably not going to get a better chance to double up and hope that he's either got something like KQ or a small pocket pair so I reraise all in. He calls and flips over AQ...crap. But, I caught a nine on the turn and sucked out LARGE...sorry, matt. Definitely the turning point for me. I'm no longer the short stack, matt is, but we aren't all that far apart. (2125)

We're still at five and matt and I are virtually tied for short stack. In middle position I figured I'd use my table image of tight aggressive to steal the blinds with [7d 6d] and do just that. (2050)

Stole the blinds with middle pocket pairs a couple of times. (2275)

Again, stole the blinds with AQ and AK and then got brave and raised with 92o and stole those blinds, too. (2225)

Well, it had been quite a while since matt and I got at each other and when he raised UTG I called in the BB with [As 6s]. Flop comes [6h 2h Qd] and hit middle pair and bet the 2/3 of the pot. Matt reraises all-in. Great. He did raise UTG pre-flop so I'm guessing he probably has a big PP and fold my middle pair. (1125)

Very next hand I catch AK and push as I'm now the short stack and pick up the blinds. (1325)

Matt and I once again get set to tangle...he's now the big stack and I'm still the short stack...I limp in from the SB with [Ks 2s] and he checks. The flop comes [3h Kh Ah] and I immediately push. Matt folded. (1425)

Wahoomac and I are pretty much equal and are at the bottom of the pile and when matt raised UTG he reraised all-in. I'm in the BB with [Ac Jh] and figured that I'm getting great odds and have to call even though my best chance is that I've got two overs on both matt and wahoomac. I called the all-in reraise as did matt. Wow. Everybody flips and matt shows [Qh Jc] while wahoomac has [Kc Js]. Double wow...I'm a big favorite...SWEET. I end up winning the pot and tripling up. Wahoomac is virtually done and goes out a short while later. (2450)

Now down to four and still the short stack, but not in any trouble, matt and I square off yet again. I've got [Jh Th] in the SB and limp in while matt checks. I flop two pair and bet the pot and matt doesn't want any piece of it and folds. (2450)

Again, I'm in the SB and after cartman calls on the button, I limp in with [9c 8c] and matt checks. The flop comes [7c 8h 4c] and I bet the pot. Matt comes over the top, surprise, with what might as well have been an all-in push and cartman gets out. So, I've got top pair but with a crappy kicker and a flush draw...is that worth risking my tourney life...on the bubble?? After telling everybody what I had I decided to call thinking that matt had overcards, but hopefully none of them were clubs. So, I pushed and he did have two overs, with one of them being a club. Gutsy call on my part, even gutsier bet on matt's part. (4800)

A couple of hands later I raise with [Ts Tc] 4X the BB UTG and matt pushes all but a few of his chips. Hmmm. I'm chip leader now and if call and lose I'd be back to short stack, but I'd have 9X BB, so not all that bad...but, not exactly good. I figure matt is trying to bully me like he's been doing all night and figured he had a low to middle pocket pair or two overs. I call. Matt flips over [Ah Kh] and the coin flip is on but that quickly changes when I hit trips on the flop. He did pair his king on the flop as well and also has a runner runner shot at the nut flush but I end up winning the pot and eliminate matt in the process. Wow. Matt and I locked horns several times tonight and he definitely got the better of me early on and after I sucked out on him to stay alive I managed to get the better of him. Mental note, never sit on matt's right. (8179)

So, down to three...sabotai, cartman and myself. Cartman has been pretty quiet and is the short stack at the moment seated to my left and sabotai has about half as much as I do. Sabotai raises and I call with [6d 5d] in the BB. The flop comes [5h 7h Js] and I bet my bottom pair with sabotai calling. The turn is another seven and I put out another bet but sabotai doesn't want to continue with what I'm guessing is two overs...probably AJ or AQ. (9154)

Here's the hand that stuck in my head the rest of the tourney...I'm in the BB with [Ah 7c] and both cartman and sabotai call in front of me. The flop comes [Th Jh As] and cartman checks. Well, I'm pretty sure my ace is good because they both limped into the pot so I bet the pot to see if anybody's willing to chase a flush. Well, sabotai pushes and cartman folds. Crap. Top pair with a crappy kicker...crap. I thought I was happy with my ace but when sabotai pushed my confidence was shaken. I was all of a sudden worried about the straight. KQo is a limpable hand, I'd raise with it, but I could definitely see people limping with it. Crap. If he did have a straight, is pushing the best strategy? Well, maybe if he thought I had a flush draw he might want to get all his money in with the best hand and not take the chance of seeing another heart on the turn if he just calls. Frig. I folded and he showed me his A2 and I was totally pissed. Man, didn't see that coming at all. Great bet by sabotai, that's for sure.

Cartman is riding on fumes and I've got three times more chips than sabotai. I've got [Ah 3d] in the SB and call with sabotai checking. The flop is [Js 5c 6h] and I figure I'd try and through my weight around a little bit and bet the pot...well, sabotai pushes...again. Damnit. No way I can with ace high, so I let it go. Good fold on my part, he showed two pairs. (9612)

Cartman went out shortly after and we were down to two. There were several minor pots but the first big one was when I had [Jh 4d] in the BB and checked after sabotai limped in. The flop came [Jc 7c Tc] and I figured I'd see where I stood with top pair on a scary board and bet the pot. Sabotai called. The turn comes with [8c] and I figured that now might be a good time to represent the nut flush and planned on check raising...so, I checked the turn and sabotai bet at it with a good sized bet. Hmmm...does he have the nut flush?? I didn't think so and thought he might be trying to steal the pot and I reraised him. Well, he didn't hesitate to push and I had no choice but to lay it down. He ended up showing me the Qc...good lay down by me...but it was an expensive one. (6212)

The next decent sized pot came when I had [Kd 6d] and limped in then sabotai raised. I called and missed the flop completely. Sabotai put out a decent sized bet but I figured he missed the flop and thought that reraising might win me the pot right then. The gamble worked out that time, he folded. (7587)

Last hand of the night...[Qd 9s] and I raised. Sabotai called and the flop came [Ad Ac Qc]. Sabotai bet. Hmmm...does he have an ace?? Well, there are only two left in the deck and if I flopped three aces, I don't know that I'd be betting just yet. Thought my queens were good so I pushed and he called...showed me an ace. Crap.

All in all, pretty happy about how I played...only had one suckout, the A9 against matt's AQ...so, I made some good reads and mostly played playable cards and let crap go when I needed to...for the most part. Still, the hand against sabotai earlier stands out as a turning point for me as I started to gamble way too much after folding the winning hand that would've knocked sabotai out. Oh well, live and learn!!!
