We are off to see a hemotologist (sp?) for our 2 year old daughter. Something came up on a blood test the other day and our pediatrician sent us to the hospital to get a second test. The second test came up the same and we were told late last night to make an appointment to see the hemotologist, TODAY. When they said they had no openings for the next week, our Dr called and got us in this afternoon. I know others have reached out to the community so i figured every little bit helps. No one seems to want tell us what the issue is so hopefully we will get some answers today. Thanks in advance.

I can only imagine how scary it is to be a parent in that position. My prayers are certainly with you and your family.

Consider it done.

As a parent, my heart goes out to you and your family. The fact that your doctor didn't tell you what he is concerned with is borderline unconscionable. Doubt is possibly more frightening than the truth at this point.

I'll echo all of the above sentiments.

I can understand several reasons why the doctor wouldn't say it was. Now if Cubboyroy specifically asked, "what could this be?" then the doctor should have given the possibilities. However, a lot of times parents don't ask that question, and it is irresponsible of the doctor to speculate until s/he is sure. However, I really don't want to threadjack this thread. I just pray that Cubboyroy's child is ok.

Just a quick update apparently not as bad as our pediatrician had thought. She is anemic and the doctor thinks she will be fine with some iron drops and cut back on milk. We have to follow up in month and he thinks her hemoglobin levels will be back to normal. Thanks for all the wishes they are very appreciated.

Just a little background on things. I have 4 children 2 boys and 2 girls and our youngest was the one with the blood issues. We have been thru it all with our 13 year old who has severe eczema and asthma. We have had the same pediatrician for all of our kids. She has always been dead on with things and her reaction to this situation had us spooked. After our first we almost didnt have anymore because of his health issues. His asthma is under control but his skin flares up quite a bit and he has been put on medication used for cancer patients. Thanks again for all of the support.
