This maybe a question that has been asked before but has anyone ever had a punter in the HOF of one of your career's? I'm in a 60 year career to this point and have ZERO punters.

To answer your question, I never had one in SP either.
I played using the 1970 roster set and historical draft files up to 2005, and I have 2 so far: Bill Johnson and Steve O'Neal. Johnson had 80% of the vote and O'Neal had 82%.

I'm in 2060 in my universe, and having gone over my HOF, I've only got 3 total kickers in the HOF -- no punters here either.
However, I did manage to get a PoG award with a Punter on my team. http://dynamic.gamespy.com/%7Efof/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Now that I think about it, I really wish I had at least one HOF Punter in my universe. Not quite sure what the criteria for a P would be, as going over the 3 PKs in my HOF feature:
Leonard Stubbs
Played with 6 different teams over 20 years (2nd pick, 4th round):
319 GP, 540 FGs, 736 FGAs, 73.3%, 57 Longest, 674 PAs, 689 PTAs, 2294 pts
Cornell Peters
Played with 4 different teams over 20 years (18th pick, 7th round):
310 GP, 517 FGs, 657 FGAs, 78.6%, 58 Longest, 646 PAs, 655 PTAs, 2203 pts
Jason Horton
Played with 6 different teams over 20 years (Undrafted):
298 GP, 485 FGs, 642 FGAs, 75.5%, 58 Longest, 634 PAs, 650 PTAs, 2089 pts
* Stubbs drafted originally by Seattle, played 4 seasons with them before spending 10 seasons with Minnesota, then 2 in Buffalo, then 1 in Jacksonville, then 1 in Arizona, before finally spending his remaining career with Cleveland for 2 seasons. Went into HOF with Minnesota as his team.
* Peters drafted originally by Carolina, played only 2 games with them before being cut, then signed by Miami for 8 games in 1 season. For the next 16 seasons, he played for San Diego, before finishing out the remaining 3 years of his career in Indianapolis.
* Horton was undrafted, and had played for Pittsburgh for 4 seasons, then the next 4 seasons with Green Bay. His following 8 seasons were with Denver, before spending a season with Tennessee, and then another season with Miami. He ended his career spending 2 years with Tampa Bay. He was the first K elected to my HOF (then Peters, then Stubbs), but what was odd about this one was that out of the 298 games that he did play, he "started" 2 of them. http://dynamic.gamespy.com/%7Efof/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif All of my other Ks in the HOF have never 'started' a game...
my HOF punters stats:
Johnson: 298 games, 1473 punts, 59630 yards, average of 40.4 with 516 inside the 20.
O'Neal: 286 games, 1453 punts, 63522 yards, average of 43.7 with 554 inside the 20.
Doesn't seem that much better than other punters I've seen that aren't in the HOF.

Yeah, one of my kickers "started" a game the other day too....do you get that stat after an opening run back maybe?

To be really honest -- I wasn't paying attention the time it happened.
Having gone back to the almanac to check it out, that particular kicker in the HOF wasn't on my team. It happened earlier in my universe, but the fact that it happened is a bit surprising. I went ahead and scoped out the details of season 2020, and more than likely I think the Kicker gets credited a 'start' if he made a 'tackle' on a kickoff:
Jason Horton:
2020 Kicking Stats: 15 GP, 2 GS, 22 FGs, 29 FGAs, 75.8%, 49 Longest, 46 PAs, 47 PTAs, 112 pts
2020 Defense Stats: 15 GP, 2 GS, 2 TKLS
Pretty much, in this particular HOF Kicker's 20 seasons, he only accumulated 2 Defensive Tackles -- and in the 1st and 2nd games of the 2020 season, he had acquired a tackle in each game. I'd have to guess this would be the case during an opening Kickoff then? I wish I had a bitter hard disk to store all logs and box scores, as opposed to only my team's box scores. http://dynamic.gamespy.com/%7Efof/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif

my HOF punters stats:
Johnson: 298 games, 1473 punts, 59630 yards, average of 40.4 with 516 inside the 20.
O'Neal: 286 games, 1453 punts, 63522 yards, average of 43.7 with 554 inside the 20.
Doesn't seem that much better than other punters I've seen that aren't in the HOF.
Isn't a 40.4 career average pretty mediocre?

Was this early on in your universe that they were inducted...? Or midway through?

They were inducted in 1992 and 1993, universe started in 1970.

Okay, i looked it up and it appears to be the same case as yours. The one kicker i noticed who got that "start" was involved on a tackle in that game, but I also dont have the box score for that year.

Hmm.
Weird...I guess that's how it's supposed to be then? Still, kind of a bit strange that it works out that way, despite having started the game via Kickoff.

Hmm. Guess my universe has some mediocre Punters. That, or it's due in time for an election to the HOF in the next few seasons. It'd be nice for my universe to have at least one Punter in the mix.

Has anyone seen a kicker become a coach?

I remember hearing about how players can become coaches -- thing is, I haven't really been paying much attention to the names of my staff. I probably should just go down the list, and make comparisons. A pity I can only open up one screen at a time, however.
