I just don't know how much longer I can do it. I like my job, I am well compesated, and good at what I do. The problem is I am restless. Very restless. I have always been a loner and have never responded well to structure or authority. I like to live my life on my terms.

Those of you who know me here know I love poker and am pretty good at it. I have been seriously thinking about moving to Las Vegas and giving it a try. You also may know I was a TGI Fridays bartender for 9 years, so I have something to fall back on while I get going.

I am serious about this. I just needed to put it down somewhere, wish me luck.

Go for it, man.

What's the point of good money if you're miserable earning it?

Money isn't happiness.

Now if you win it at something you love, well then that's a whole nother ball game.

Hmmm...been thinking along the same lines myself. Not too much structure for my job, but other then that I understand. I love my company, but I have never liked driving team which is all they allow for the most part.

I would love nothing to move on, but so much holds me to this job. Pension, insurance, and mainly just the fact that the ideal thing would be to become an owner/operator but I just don't think I have the balls for it right now.

I say go for it, as for me I will stay put for now I guess.....

Ha. That was probably the best piece of advice ever.

That was one of the best SP episodes ever.

Good luck man. I totally understand what you mean. It's hard, but doable.

Vegas is hot. For hospitality, I can't think of a better place to get a job.

Seriously, if you dont have anything holding you down there, i would go in a second. You could probably make 1-2K a week bartending there, and play all the poker you wanted. Plus think of all the beautiful babies.

Lathum,

What levels of poker do you play at? I played nothing but online poker for about a year.. I made a decent amount of money but it is no way to live. The ups and downs of poker are far worse after time than your 9-5. My suggestion is use your poker income help search for a better job.

It depends. Online I play mostly tournaments and in a brick and mortor casino I play no limit. I realize it wouldn't be easy otherwise everyone would do it.

Is it still possible to breath in Las Vegas or has all the healing oxygen been sucked up?
