And you didn't! Ha!
Had to rub it in. Sorry guys.
This will be spoiler free. In fact, all I'll say is this:
It was great. I'm not a fanboy, but I'd see it again.

Sadly, Jabba was my nickname in middle school. I was a bit on the heavy side.

this thread has made me uncomfortable.
anyway, in one of my jobs i work for an entertainment reporter. nice side perk, i get to see most movies (especially the bad ones...Monster-in-Law, anyone?) early. usually it's not worth bragging about. but star wars...come on. had to do it. didnt want to. but had to.
and it really was good.

So, is it true that Palpatine IS Anakin's father?

Not Palpy, those little blood worms that give Anakin the force are. Ringworms = the force.

possible spoiler, though im not directly sure i know what im talking about:
um...it's never discussed directly. i'm not a hardcore enough fan to know what should just be "known" by most people...so the conversation left me a bit confused. for instance, i dont really know what a "midi-chlorians" is. if you do, the conversation will be much clearer to you.

Unless the conversation goes somethine like, "You know that midichlorian stuff mentioned in the first movie? It was all bullshit i made up to trick the jedi," then its probably better for you that you never heard of it. dumbest. idea. ever.

it says that midi-chlorians are these extremely tiny organisms that live on every creature in the galaxy.

Wasnt anakin immaculately concepted by the force? I know its a BS concept, but it appears to be what they were suggesting in the first movie. Of course it would make more sense if Palpy was his father. For those looking for spoilers, check www.themoviespoiler.com. Its up there i believe(spoilers of the novelization)

Well, I know that in "A Brave New World" (1998) Miguel Ferrer's character turned out to be the Father of John Cooper.
Same but different.

Agreed.

The whole point of the midi-chlorians is to show that Anakin is indeed the chosen one. His whole character is drawn from different myths and religions. For example, here are some ways he is an allegory for Christ:
He is a virgin birth.
He passes through hell before he fulfills his destiny (he falls to the darkside before he redeems himself, the darkside in this case is hell). NOTE: Christ did not fall to temptation, this is more of a journey parallel.
He is the Chosen One.
All of the PT villains portray different aspects of his character as Vader:
Darth Maul - Pure evil bad-ass
Count Dooku - Shows the elegant but misguided views that can lead to the darkside. Let's face it, Vader did WANT to bring order to the galaxy.
Greivous - Represents his mechanical side, and shows that there is technology available to create Vader.

Along those lines, isn't Sidious the dumbest dude ever? If I'm going to the effort to clone an army, I don't think I would use Jango Fett (look at how badly the stormtroopers turned out: they were wasted by Ewoks). I would clone someone who's got a shitload of midichlorians...maybe Darth Vader?
I think I've said it before, but what this trilogy missed were the surprises that happened in the first trilogy. What if Vader did kill Anakin? It would have been possible had Sidious failed to get Anakin to join him and then cloned him instead. Then this movie could be about Darth Vader killing Anakin, and Obi Wan fighting Vader and throwing him into the lava.
Return of the Jedi would still make sense, since Anakin's spirit would not be freed to be one with the Force until Vader dies...and Vader, since he's a clone of Anakin, would think that Luke is his son and act accordingly.
Wouldn't this have been much better?

If you really want people to have a better idea of how to compare your opinion, you should also say what you thought of ep.1 and ep.2. :p
ok. i did not like ep 1. watched it once in theathers, and that was it.
i liked the 2nd half of ep 2. couldnt stand the love angle. minus that part, the whole thing felt like i was watching a video game.
that said, the 3rd movie actually redeems the first 2. it doesnt make them good movies, but it makes them better. it lets you sit back and go, "oh, i get it now! thats why we were watching all that!"
the whole 3rd ep. is just "go go go!" the whole time. it's a great ride.

I think the series 1-3 also failed to tie plenty of loose ends that were in the original trilogy and create more questions than answers. It seems that the new movies were rushed .

I liked one, and liked it more, the more I saw it. It got a lot better after 2 came out. Ep. 2 was good the first time, but the more I watch it the worse it is.
I hope Ep. 3 is more like ep. 1 in that regard.

i expect the entire "new trilogy" to take on a new meaning now that its been completed. it was just too confusing seeing episode 1, and knowing all the stuff that had to happen to catch us up to episode 4.
now, we can just sit back and play them in order.
(but when i show my kids, you HAVE to show them the order they were made, 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3. otherwise, you lose one of the biggest "holy shit" moments in film history. and we cant have that, can we?)

I enjoyed the original trilogy as a kid, but haven't really like the newer movies. I'll go see the final installment, but my feeling is probably very similar to other- the more vader is in the movie, the better the movie will be, the less we see him, the worse it will be.

I believe that was the ultimate point (ie, everything in the prequals was the lead up for this). That's one of the reason people tend to dislike the prequals, IMO, it's ALL exposition until Ep 3. Exposition usually isn't all that interesting.
That being said I liked Ep 2 myself. Ep 1 was total exposition, so I wasn't too fond, but what the hey, it sets up the backstory for what sounds like a kick ass Ep 3.

off the top of my head, id say 85-90 percent of the entire film are scenes with either anakin/vader and/or obi wan (aka, the interesting stuff).
light sabers are out in most scenes :D
