Currently running a half-off promotion at this site, which has been discussed here before.
Your discount code is: 58004
If you haven't before, give this a look. You are buying a gift certificate to a restaurant, at a price well below its face value. I just bought several $25 GCs, paying either $10 or $5 for them... and on top of that I apply the 50% discount, meaning that the $25 in food costs me either $5.00 or $2.50.
Some places have strings attached - read the details. Some restrict what days of the week they are usable for, or require a party of a certain size, that sort of thing. But if you can find a local restaurant that you visit anyway, and the restrictions (if any) aren't a problem -- this is basically free money.
The way this works, incidentally, is you pay them (credit card or PayPal), and they send you a link to print out the GC yourself. It will have a serial number that the restaurant uses to confirm it -- and I have never had any problem using them. Good deal all around, it seems, as long as the restaurant values the patronage enough to sacrifice its regular prices.

1 restaurant within a 30 mile radius, down by the beach. Oh well. Thanks for the link, I'm thinking this might do my parents in Dallas a bit more good than me.

Dola- In Boston, Vinalia is on the list. I heard this place was great. It says you have to present the coupon before ordering, and given the area and nature of this restaurant, I don't know what kind of service you'd get. But if you're in the Boston area, this is a pretty awesome deal.

I could get them for the Bayou Grill but between my wife and me, we don't spend $35 there so that nixes that idea.

Wow. I get 6 pages of hits for my location, and that doesn't even reach to Baltimore or Washington.

I just witnessed the timestamp bug in action. My post was after QS's because I hadn't seen that before, yet my post ends up a minute earlier than his. Almost like catching an X-Ray burst from a black hole.

I just did a search by region of Florida, and there are a total of 18 restaurants from Gainesville to Pensacola. Perhaps they've bought into the mistaken belief that most people in NW Florida don't have electricity, much less internet access.
Although, I will admit that I've seen people at restaurants in this town for whom a night at Red Lobster was worth the 75 minute drive, and who will probably be back in town in 2 months for another "big night out." Still, there are a few of us who can't show you exactly where Deliverance was filmed.

Hey Quik, have you ever eaten at the Tidewater Grille in Havre de Grace?
My wife and I had two of our most romantic and tasty meals there several years ago. Great view of the river and all.

Well, I didn't see anything in the Columbia area that really struck my fancy, though when searching, I did decide to buy a couple of $25 GCs for Zapata's (http://restaurant.com/microsite.asp?vlvl=district&vids=1830&vidsl=1&vstid=28&vgid=80&vstcd=MD&vdid=339&pgn=gcp&zp=&pxm=15&src=&rid=312543&rn=&ct=&cs=0&ne=0&al=&nv=1&pg=1&bsp=1&qty=4), as Mrs. Q and I are on a seemingly endless quest for a decent Mexican brunch buffet.
However, if you are at all interested in more "exotic" foods (no, not the salad bar at a strip club), I would highly recommend The Mango Grove (http://www.washingtonian.com/dining/Profiles/mangogrove.html), which is an all-vegetarian, Southern Indian restaurant in Columbia, which is just dynamite.
If you're willing to drive a little ways, the best seafood around is at an out-of-the-way joint in Lanham, of all places. Jerry's Seafood (http://www.jerrys-seafood.com/index.cfm) is a little dumpy, won't take reservations, and is pretty expensive. So, why bother? Oh. My. God.
And if you might be inclined to have Chinese, the best around will be a bit of a drive for you as well, but Grace's Fortune (http://www.findthefun.com/rests/rMD/r0172886.htm) (sorry for the lousy link) is outstanding, and has a knockout Sunday Buffet for about $18. We're there about once every three weeks, it's sensational.

Have never been... we don't get up that far north too often, except when we're flying through on our way to Atlantic City, and then there's no time to stop for scenery, you understand.

We LOVE restaurant.com, use it frequently for a couple of local places. I bought my parents one of the $125 gift certificates for Christmas, I had a promo code so I paid $50 for it, then with the promo codes for 50 and 70% off, they were able get at least double that in restaurant certificates. They loved it.

Question, if I buy two or more cards for the same location, would they let me use them at the same time? Or is that usually not allowed?
JeeberD
07-27-2008, 07:20 PM
Nope, not allowed. In fact, you're not supposed to use certificates at the same location more than once a month, but I'm not sure how they enforce that...
oliegirl
07-27-2008, 07:22 PM
We've used them more than once a month, but have never used two in the same visit. They also won't let you "split" the check between 2 couples and each use one...one coupon per table.
RendeR
07-27-2008, 07:59 PM
Most of them state on the printout that they are for one table per visit per month.
At least the ones I bought for this swanky place here in buffalo did.

Clearly these folks need to get a new sales rep in Athens, GA.
Virtually nothing within 15 miles of here (one mediocre bbq joint & an Italian restaurant that has enough restrictions on the coupon to make it pretty much worthless unless you're taking a big group).
Ah well, c'est la vie.

They're definitely expanding if you haven't checked in a while - last time this thread was bumped, there was nothing anywhere near Boise, now I see 3 or 4 of my favorite restaraunts.
A $100 gift certificate to Damons that I paid 8 bucks for isnt to shabby at all. Its about 20 miles from me, but IMO well worth it. I love using this site.

So, to be clear, when they have these big deals that expire on a certain date, is it:
1. USE certificate by date the deal expires
or
2. BUY certificate by date the deal expires, but use within a reasonable time (like a month, a year, etc.)
JPhillips
05-30-2010, 06:01 PM
It should be buy. Every time we've bought anything through them there;s a year to use the gift certificate regardless of any deal at the website.
