With the third pick in the second round, the Miami Dolphins select, from UCLA, OLB Stan Gunner!

ANALYSIS: Gunner has all the talent in the world, but was in a bad system at UCLA. He has great pass rush skills, though is decent at best vs the run. His coverage skills are also top notch, and though he isn't slated to start in the pre-season for the Fins, he will see plenty of time in Nickel and Pass Rush packages.

With the ninth pick in the second round, the Detroit Lions select WILB from Colorado State University, Jeff Nights!

ANALYSIS: Jeff Nights are the most dominate player at any position the last four years in college. He became the NCAA's all time tackling leader, as well as shattered any defensive record in his path at Colorado State. Nights fell to the second round because of concerns of his speed, but a 4.78 isn't bad for a MLB with the ability to sniff plays like Nights. He'll start the pre-season as a back up, but is expected to see good amount of time to develope throughout the season.

Jeff Nights is a 33/60 and the #1 MLB back up behind Nick Barnett (70/70) who has a deal running through 2011. It'll take some production from Nights to get him the opportunity to start, either in Detroit, or somewhere else.


Stan Gunner is 34/56 and the #1 SLB back up behind Donnie Spragen (42/49). Spragen has two years left on his deal, but is on the decline, while Gunner is on the way up. Expect Gunner to see a bit more time then Nights, especially considering the Phins use a 3-4 defensive scheme.
