Hello Everyone, yes I'm looking for a answer to a question again..

I am picking up a replacement cell phone for my Sprint PCS service and would like to have something, not too expensive, with Text Messaging available. I've been checking out ebay for these and more than likely will buy one via this route.

My question is, is Short Messaging Service the same thing as Text Messaging? Or is Text Messaging known as anything else that I wouldn't be aware of? My concern is that I do not want to buy a phone and then find out that this particular service isn't available..

Thanks for the assistance.. Very much appreciated..

I think they are the same. I have an option with my phone for text or MMS (Cingular). I am pretty sure that SMS is actually text messages. My roommate has sprint and that is what his menu says...though...for some reason, he hasn't been able to text me. He can receive my texts but not reply, to anybody.

I use about 150 texts a month. You should certainly look for a phone that has the ability to spell words for you. I forget whay they call it...but you don't have to type the 7 4 times to get an S and so on. My AT&T phone was like that. It wasn't old, but didn't have this specific feature. Now, with my Cingular phone...it will pick the right letters for my intended word.

it actually IS different, I wondered myself so I asked Sprint..text messaging is your normal messagin used through your nomal type of phone, like a pager style, when SHORT mail is used through your phone's browser..SOOO if you want to be able to send and not only receive messages make sure its a phone that web capable, most are now, but just make sure...when you get messages through text you dont have to sign on to your web, like you do with short mail....thats why they have different charges for them..
