When I am playing FOF, I build a team using specific players. I think that is the only way to build a winning team and staying within the salary cap constraints. For example, I will have pass rushing front line and run stopping linebackers.

However, in TCY, you don’t not have those same constraints. My question is do you mix and mingle? Or do you stick with one specific style and build around that?

Depends on the team.. Ohio state has a salary cap they gotta stay underneath... Lexus's aren't free you know :)

I mix it up, based on what's available.

interesting discussion. In FOF I tend to build my team around 2 things. First any established, star players that are there when I take over I would look into developing a passing game; picking up good pass blocking linemen and a good receiving back, ect. Second I look for a the weather/stadium. For a warm weather city/domed stadium I tend to go with much more of an offensive passing team. If taking over a cold weather franchise I tend to build a team more around defense and a solid ground attack. In TCY I feel you need to tailor your recruiting toward the style of offense you run. If you employ a run and shoot attack, good WR's are a must. However I think you need to recruit the best players you can get in TCY, because you may not find as good a player in the specific type of player your looking for.

I run a very run focused offense, and recruit running backs, run-blocking lineman and TEs, and 3rd down quarterbacks. However, recently I got a QB that is very very good, and I have gone to a more balanced offense--at least until he leaves. On defense, I take the best player availiable most of the time, and look for good lock-down corners. So I do mix it up on D, while offense is more focused.
