2- T1 and T2 total?
3- like it has the spread of NE IND -3 to NE then, it has IN -135, NE +115.. what is the -135 and +115?
4- how do you know how much money you would make

that is all for now, my brother and i know the basics of lines and spreads and stuff, but this is a bit overwhelming.

#4- not sure what you mean, if youre taking normal bets, just multiply your stake by 1.91 to figure out the total money (bet included), most sites do that for you
#5- bet on multiple teams that all have to win for larger odds.

yeah that is quite odd. im looking at the site now and saw what you mean, those arent the moneylines (in fact, i cant see where they have them posted), those are just changed odds for the points line. Where I bet, its -115 for the colts and -105 for the pats (normal is -110)

Colts +3 -135, Pats -3 +110

Betting is implied 11/10, but in this case OLY is juicing up the lines. Asking for higher vig versus just moving the line to adjust.

So in this case its 135 bet to win 100 on INDY
or 100 to win 110 on NE.

Oh, and the T1, T2 thing is an individual over/under on pts for the listed teams. As in INDY will score over/under 24 1/2.

no thats with the line, the moneyline straight up bets have to be posted somewhere, but those odds are with the spreads. If you bet $10 on the Colts +3, you'll win $7.41

So is my net profit $.50 or $5.50?

Meaning, in the end if they win I have $5.50 now or $10.50?

Do you mean using the points? Depends on the site, you can get certain amount of points. In football, it is usually 6 points, so if you are taking a favorite, lets say at -7, you can tease that down to -1. The only thing is is that you have to win two sides of one bet to win the bet in general.

Example:
Team A +9/ Team B -4

Tease above would make it:

Team A +15/Team B +2

Same applies to over/unders.

The number of teams selected and the number of points selected determines the payout odds. A "Tie" or "No Action" and a "Win" on a two team teaser shall constitute a "No Action" wager. Teasers can be a fun bet and if spread out can give a lot of action to a bettor over the weekend. Personally, I never bet them as they dont have enough inherent value over the long term. Some folks will swear by them but you are better off just making straight bets and hitting a percentage.

i'll usually only do teasers when in vegas, as most sportsbook there have teasers and parlays with ties winning. Online sportsbooks don't do the same. At least, I have yet to find one that does.

I'd stay away from teasers mainly because you have to win 2 sides to win one bet. It is a very attractive bet to a beginner because it is so tempting, but the odds are that it won't cover both sides. Plus the payout is usually smaller.

yeah payouts suck. a 2-team teaser bet has slightly worse payouts than a 1 team straight bet. 1.83 for a 6 point 2 team, 1.71 for a 7 point 2 team, and 1.91 for a straight, 1 team bet.

so you're suggesting that there is an appropriate time to start? the fact that i'm 18 means i must not have as much current sports knowledge as i will when im 25... you don't understand, all i know is sports. it's all i know. i know way too much about the nfl, mlb, and nba.

No matter how much you may think you know about sports, someone will always know more.. that being obvious, sportsbooks/casinos are full of people who think they know way too much.. do you think those places would still be open if they lost money?

I'm the exact opposite. I love betting NFL and college football, and never seem to do as well on basketball. Although, baseball is the absolute worst.

Im with Smurf, the NBA is the easiest place for me to make money.

To this day, I have this annoying new yorker who calls my cell phone on a daily basis promising me his locks of the day if I call him. Avoid parlays like the plague.

If you don't avoid parlays - at least parlay favorites with overs and dogs with unders.

Use bodog.com and your checking account instead of credit cards - it's way better to lose money you have then money you don't have

Stick with singles - and don't bet something just because you are bored and it's the only game on.

I've always found that I do well betting on my favorite teams. This year I was miserable with UConn early in the year, but by the end of the year I was back in the groove. I can smell a UConn basketball loss coming from about a week away on the schedule, I had them losing to UMass, BC and Oklahoma all straight up.
