Does Martz call his own plays?

I believe he does.

It's mostly a guess though. I'd defer to Rams fans.

He must. It's pretty obvious by the deer in the headlights look he gets when a bizarre call goes wrong.

He's their official OC?

Yep, sure does.
He was much better up in the box when he was an OC.

Shaun Alexander ran for over 100 yards against the Saints.
Kevan Barlow ran for over 100 yards against the Saints.
Emmit Smith and Troy Hambrick ran for over 200 combined yards against the Saints.
My 80 year old grandmother with a surgically repaired ankle ran for 75 yards against the Saints in a preseason fan scrimmage.
Mike Martz--with Faulk and Jackson in his backfield--chose not to run the ball against the Saints and lost in overtime.
I have not followed football as much as some of you, but I have never seen a coach like Martz before. He honestly seems to care more about being unconventional than winning. As an OC, he helped the Rams to the Super Bowl. As a HC, I think that he costs his team several wins a year. He needs someone above him to check his ego to keep it from getting in the way of his brainpower.

I don't believe you, no way, if she was 79, then maybe, but 80, FORGET IT.

That is the argument I was looking for, thank you very much. I'm comparing Bob Bratkowski, Cincy's OC to Martz when it comes to play calling. Bratkowski has a very good power back, a first round RB, a horse at FB, a pro bowl RT, a first round LT one of the best pulling guards in the game and a couple other serviceable OL. He also has a beat up WR corps, a QB who is essentially a rookie and a suspect defense that needs to stay off the field, yet Carson Palmer has thrown more passes than any QB in the league.

It's really affected her cutback ability. Before the surgery, I'm sure that she could have easily put up 150 against the Saints.
I've followed the team my whole life, and I have never seen run defense this poor. We just can't stop anyone. We get bitchslapped down the field. It's really embarassing. And there is really no adjustment that the coaches can make. Tell the players to stop being such pussies? That' s about all I can see.
But this thread is supposed to be about how much Mike Martz sucks. Far be it from me to threadjack.

That's OK, I started this thread and I say all suckiness can be discussed here.

Speaking as a Rams fan I can say I completely agree.

He's conveniently forgetting to tell you that his grandmother retired after the game so that she could spend more time smokin' up...

That was the knock on Sam Wyche, too.
I'm willing to head coach.

Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein.

As a Rams fan, I will second others' comments that Martz is one of the dumbest head coaches of all time. I'm coutning the days until he gets fired and we can get a real coach in there.
