I've played CM 03/04 now for 672 hours and I still want to play more and usually I'm a fickle gamer. I usually buy games and play them for a week or two. But, every once and a while a game comes along, that I really pour quite a bit of my time into. Kohan Immortal Sovereigns 8 months, Ultima Online 2 + years, Asherons Call Darktide 1 year, Dark Age of Camelot 1 year and Age of Mythology / Age of Empires II, still playing those games for years now.

Anyway I ramble. Madden, I get every year and play solid for a month or so but then I find to many flaws in the engine and I quit. Back in the day before I found CM, I used to churn out hours of FOF both versions released by EA and TCY when Jim went solo again.

But one day I found CM01/02 or CM3 whichever came first and it changed my attitude on Text based gaming forever. The games were so well done in my opinion that I just didn't want a niche game anymore in this genre. To those of you that have never played CM 03/04 because you don't like soccer, you should get the hockey and you will understand what many of us are talking about. Untill you get into one of their products, you really don't understand the way a management sim should be made.

Things I would like to see develop even more in the future.

2d engines for our American Football games

Robust Media and Player Interaction engine these are the two coolest features of the CM series I believe, but I still want more. Watching players send out media stories that seem to make sense, or comments from your fans its just really cool. Presentation in their games is excellent also, it really brings you into their universe.

Another intresting game over in Europe is Total Club Manager, its a managment sim that also offers a 3d match engine for viewing. Sounds great at first, till you realize how bad their 3d match engine actually plays. You don't even get anywhere close to the same results with their 2d match engine.

Ahh, but the presentation of the product is outstanding, its just lacking the core to keep it all together. Lots of frills but no substance.

The point of all this,,,, I'm excited that sigames is getting involved with more sports and in the long run its going to be good for the community as a whole.

I'm a pretty fickle gamer too. I hate that because it causes me to buy games and then never really play them after like 2 weeks. Although I've found 2 games that I can't stop playing right now (the Battlefield series, I'm stuck on BF Vietnam and I've been playing the Political Machine beta in between Battlefield. Both are incredibly addicting).

Yeah, I usually have 1 FPS I play for just plan old fashioned venting. Right now BFV is my choice of FPS. I like it even better now that the M60 was nerfed.

Dude, are you obsessed with me or something? Everytime I post, you are talking about me or my wife. Do you want me to send you a pic you can spank your monkey to?

No, I'm just being a smart-ass. Notice the qualifying ";)" smilie...

Besides, the photos you already have on the website will do just fine, thanks.

I agree completely with the initial post in this thread. I'm up to 12 days (295 hours to be precise) now.. which is more hours then just about any other game I've played in a very long time. Furthermore, I keep wanting to play more. The 2D engine is a big part of it, but the whole game is just done so well.

Edited to fix bad math.

Don't worry, hockey will be one title I buy from SI. Heck, I wish I could pre-order the game right now just so I stop wondering when it can be ordered. :)

Reading their preview article on EHM:FE reminds me of the days I would get the latest Sierra magazine and read the FPS articles over and over again, wondering if I missed anything about the upcoming football or baseball game.

I feel bad for ootp, fbcb, fof4, and tcy... it might be awhile before I return to any of those games once I have EHM:FE... hockey is new territory for the text simmer. :)

There's a "Game Status" tab in the game that tells you. The guys at SI know how addictive their game is, so they just like to rub it in. :)

They also have a fun little "additiveness rating" on that Game Status screen with phrases like "Don't forget to wash" and "Relationship alert". Like Druez said, they really like to rub it in.

I play CM very slowly, spending hours searching for new players, etc. I also start a game with a few leagues and run it in "vacation mode" for 2-3 years to establish some fresh histories and average ratings for players. Then I add in a new manager for a team that has a vacant position and retire the original manager. I find that locating quality players in obscure leagues is easier if you know that they've averaged 7.50+ for the last 2 years. (This however really jacks up the number of hours played as I've already run the game for quite a few hours before I really "start" a new game)

I've finally taken my conference team Scarborough playing by LLM rules to division 1 this year. Its been a trip. LLM Rules forum over there can be rough... SI Games forums make this one seem pretty mild sometimes :)
