Ok, I have been having some problems with Netscape lately and was wondering if anyone could help.
First of all, I have not been able to download anything in Netscape. It can't find the proper file location. Now I am getting pop ups, but not fron Netscape, from Internet Explorer. Why?
I also get some message when I start using Nescape about wanted to use this user. It gives some numbers.
How can I stop these IE pop ups?

Try downloading and running ad aware from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

Sounds to me like a spyware issue, one that's set to open its popups with IE.
"Wanting to use this user"? As in, a particular user profile? Which isn't neccessarily odd unless, of course, you've never set up a 2nd (or more) user profile, which would kinda send up a red flag to me about what would happen if you selected yes.

I think the issue may be in a profile. I have never set up an additional profile is the odd thing, as you mentioned.
Anyone had a simliar problem? I have had to switc to IE to download and I guess i get spyware then.

Actually, from what you describe, it seems more likely that you would have gotten the spyware during a Netscape d'load, which then screwed up your ability to d'load with Netscape.
After running adware, etc. & trying to fix whatever is "bugging" things right now, I'd suggest that you consider d'loading/installing Mozilla & giving it a try.
The switch from Netscape to Mozilla for me has been pretty much painless & seemless but I don't have nearly as many issues, fatal errors, etc. as I used to.

I downloaded Mozilla but had some problems with it too. I was told that Netscape and Mozilla was practically the same thing.

I found an app called Browser Aid that was causing the problems. I deleted it and hopefully that will take care of that.

My pop up problem was not solved. I have ran the updated version fo adware and spybot and they can not elimnate the problem. In the mean time, I am getting bitch slapped with popups. I steppend away for 10 minutes and 20 pop ups when I came back, all in IE.
Damn I hate IE.

If "browser aid" is causing the problem, here's a link to instructions for removing it manually.

Disclaimer -- I haven't tried this, never used anything from this particular site before, so it's "at your own risk" (pretty much like everything else in life *g*) but I thought it might be of some interest.

Also, you can try booting up in safe mode before running something like ad aware. That way it can remove stuff that were in use before.
