It'll probably slow down but this is lookin like it's gonna be a wild one, Colts may rack 50 points at this rate.

"Because I'm telling you right now, Peyton Manning is like Cyberdyne Systems Model 101. He is a machine. He can't be argued with. He can't be reasoned with. And he will not stop. Ever. Until you are dead."
I thought this was apporiate on this thread aswell :)

If our defense shows up at any point today .... we should be fine.
Our defense only shows up for half a game, almost every week. *sigh*

I have yet to see this many open WR's and so mnay large runs by RB's by both teams in one game.

This is one hell of a game so far. No punts, and a missed FG and end of half are they only times the teams don't score.
I'm starting to believe the Peyton Manning = Machine stuff... god that offense is looking good.
That missed FG by Anderson could be tragic. Chiefs need to score on the first posession of the 2nd half.

Collts get the ball. Heh.
Pacersfan46
01-11-2004, 01:42 PM
Man, I've been begging the Colts D to go for the ball all game. At least if you can't stop a team regularly, the next best thing you can do is make the big plays, the difference making type plays.
Finally, someone went for one, and we got it.
GO COLTS!!

I was starting to think only Dwight Freeney knew how to cause a turnover.
Pacersfan46
01-11-2004, 02:02 PM
Freeney needs to quit running himself out of plays. Every snap he's running 7 or 8 yards behind the line of scrimmage, and isn't getting near the QB on passing plays, and is making holes for Preist to run to.
He's been nonexistant. Haven't heard his name mentioned one time.

I agree, he should turn inside a few times.

I thought the NFL banned the "quick huddle" when the Bengals used to do it under Sam Wyche? Or was it different than what the Colts are doing now?

Something similar happened near the end of the Rams-Panthers game last night. The picture kept breaking up, it looked like a sattelite connection that kept getting lost, even though it was through normal cable... I was getting pissed off.

A whole playoff game without a single punt. With 2:00 left it doesn't like there will be one. This has been a real defensive exhibition, eh?

Greg Robinson: Start polishing up that resume my friend.
Ron Meeks: Expect to see Tony Dungy a whole lot this week as you prepare for the Pats

What an odd final play by KC. Holmes was not even paying attention to anything but looking for a guy to his left to lateral it to and got nailed from the other side. Just looked funny.

Same thing happened on his fumble... he seems to have poor vision in the open field or something.

Why didn't they go for a field goal? They where in range.

I thought that too. Maybe they were worried about it being blocked?

I think once you get late enough into the game, all logic abandons you.

My power went out for the last two hours of the game... I've heard a brief radio wrap up (the predictable "game we'll never forget" of course), but missed the bulk of thre game itself. ::sigh::

I guess Dick lost confidence in Anderson as well as the "defense".

Yeah, me too.
A FG puts the game beyond any last second miracle. I just don't see why that was not considered.

I love how everyone is so quick to discount the Colts. How about the Patriots defense showing up next week? These two teams already played a few weeks ago, and it was 38-34.
Why broadcasters and some fans think the Colts are in serious trouble here is beyond me.

We'll be okay, the Patriots don't have Preist Holmes. They have a better defense though.
This should be a great game. We have the incentive of trying to get even for being stopped 1 yard short earlier.

Likely because the chance of a block outweighs the possible benefit. It was going to take something extroadinary for the Chiefs to tie the game, don't put them in a situation where a blocked kick becomes potentially catastrophic (blocked FG or punt).
I was fine with the play as it was called.
And I love how those three guys with Priest Holmes were too busy looking downfield to stop the guy who completely blind-sided him.

Through 7 games, I would have to say this is the best playoffs in memory. (For reference, I basically only recall the entire NFL post-season since 1987).
anyone else with me?
3 overtime games (1 going into double-OT)
2 very tight games (Titans-Pats, Colts-Chiefs)
1 decent, semi-big win (Panthers-Cowboys)
1 blowout (Broncs-Colts)

Hope the game isn't at night next week for the Colts sake, otherwise we'll be in the deep freeze again, and I don't think the Colts offense would be as effective in the gloom.
Sunday forecast: Mix of sun and clouds. Highs in the upper 20s and lows in the low single digits.

they set the title games at odd times. this year. The AFC championship game is the early game, and is 3pm Eastern. The NFC title game is 6.45 eastern.

In a dome, at home. The Colts have played better than I thought they would in the playoffs (well, at least against Denver, everyone knew KC-IND would be a shootout) but I can guarantee they won't score 38 points next week.

Neither will NE. I think it will be close. The Colts have proven that they can win the grind it out 17-14 games too.

The Colts had the best road record in the NFL this year. We played better on the road than we have at home.
Road, home .. doesn't matter.

Yeah, it won't be easy. But I think at home, unless the away team is much better, you gotta thinnk the home team has the advantage.

Colts defense gave up "only" 24 points and had the Chiefs in 4th and long a ton of times. They played terribly on 4th down, but in a normal game, without a perfect offense, a lot of those drives would have ended in punts. They weren't great by any stretch, but I they were good enough given the circumstances of the game.

Tivo is awesome for football. Single fast-foward between plays, double fast-foward through commercials. Get to watch every play with no commercials or commentary (just the play-by-play on the actual plays).

That has to make a game go REAL fast when you watch it.....would be weird to me
Daimyo

I usually do that for games where my team isn't involved... (games I wouldn't watch fully otherwise). I can't help but watch my teams live. :)
