Stars- 3:00am (EST)--- Registration begins at 2:10am (EST)

I'm going to get in at AP, but there's no way I can stay up for the Stars one.......

SirFozzie
01-03-2004, 11:32 PM
Damnit. I hate working weekends ;)

TLK
01-03-2004, 11:35 PM
Check that.... AP is registering now....

stevew
01-04-2004, 12:33 AM
Okay, finally fixed my "not being on the internet according to AP" problem.....what should I expect here? Lots of people doing crazy ass bids early on? Good strategy to fold early and often?

Huckleberry
01-04-2004, 12:59 AM
I'm in at AP. I'm at wasabiak's table but he's not responsive. Guess he hasn't checked in yet.

TLK
01-04-2004, 01:01 AM
I'm with hoopsguy at table 78

Huckleberry
01-04-2004, 01:04 AM
Is it just me or are there a ridiculous number of flushes at AP?

stevew
01-04-2004, 01:08 AM
Man I suck.
At table 78 too

TLK
01-04-2004, 01:09 AM
what's your name?

TLK
01-04-2004, 01:10 AM
dola.....

I'm weak.... I registered at Stars.....

stevew
01-04-2004, 01:10 AM
At this point, Im too embarrased to admit :) Although its pretty obviousl

Huckleberry
01-04-2004, 01:11 AM
My screen says table 78 also. But I don't see your name, TLK.

Some kind of screwup with the software. The tourney lobby doesn't even show a table 78.

Huckleberry
01-04-2004, 01:11 AM
All in with aces. Called.

stevew
01-04-2004, 01:12 AM
Are you N2....Im stevedogg

Huckleberry
01-04-2004, 01:12 AM
Sweet. Ace comes out on the flop.

TLK
01-04-2004, 01:13 AM
ok... there's something wrong..... we're all at 78..... but we're not at the same table.... Huck has to be right.... glitch in the software

TLK
01-04-2004, 01:15 AM
42 now

stevew
01-04-2004, 01:16 AM
WHew....was down to my last 300

Wasabiak
01-04-2004, 01:27 AM
yep, Huck and i are at same table, and doing fairly well.

TLK
01-04-2004, 01:29 AM
I can't get anything today.....

Huckleberry
01-04-2004, 01:31 AM
Correction. I was doing fairly well. Then I start being an idiot again.

Huckleberry
01-04-2004, 01:35 AM
I hate horsecrap.

TLK
01-04-2004, 01:36 AM
I saw that crap.... ugly

Wasabiak
01-04-2004, 01:37 AM
that guy went all in on 3, 9, and gets 2-3's on the draw.......unreal.

Huckleberry
01-04-2004, 01:38 AM
Don't forget it was against my pocket queens. Now he's going all in on 40% of the hands.

stevew
01-04-2004, 01:39 AM
Man, I am already on my 3rd life

Huckleberry
01-04-2004, 01:39 AM
Oh. I guess I mucked my hand. It's set to automatic. But that's what I had.

hoopsguy
01-04-2004, 01:40 AM
Joined late, since we had company. Got blinded to death, then bit the dust with pocket queens in all-in. In ugly fashion ... heart just wasn't in it tonight.

Wasabiak
01-04-2004, 01:41 AM
xnicholasx is a dick

stevew
01-04-2004, 01:44 AM
Dang, I suck......342 :(

TLK
01-04-2004, 01:45 AM
Somebody call him the next time he goes allin...... please

Huckleberry
01-04-2004, 01:46 AM
I would if I could. But losing to it once with pocket queens tends to cause some hesitation. Then again, the only time he's been called he had 9d3d.

Huckleberry
01-04-2004, 01:51 AM
That was funny. I made a comment to him about going all-in the next time I got 7-2 offsuit. Next deal gives me 7d2h.

The poker gods are funny.

stevew
01-04-2004, 01:52 AM
man, I am going to be useless in the morning.

TLK
01-04-2004, 01:54 AM
this guy is great.... what a douchebag....

stevew
01-04-2004, 01:56 AM
Man, this Pokerstars tourney is huge

Huckleberry
01-04-2004, 01:57 AM
You should see the afternoon ones.

stevew
01-04-2004, 01:59 AM
Man, I just got too into this I missed CHeaters... :(

Wasabiak
01-04-2004, 02:08 AM
Ah, what the hell.......I had pocket 8's and had 2 others all in, i went along and got beat. I'm getting tired anyway. Good luck guys.

Huckleberry
01-04-2004, 02:09 AM
I intentionally lost at Poker Stars. I'm never gonna stay up late enough for that one.

Huckleberry
01-04-2004, 02:19 AM
I gained back some of my losses on table 77. Tried to scare them off and went all in with A 6 after a 7 9 3 flop. Got lucky as the turn and the river were both Aces.

TLK
01-04-2004, 02:25 AM
up to 8,000 at Stars...... getting tired though and I'm running on two hours sleep...... I think I'm about to go Little Nicky on them....

Huckleberry
01-04-2004, 02:29 AM
hahahahaha

I checked on Little Nicky himself (I got moved). He was at 10,600 and I checked 10 seconds later and he was out of the tourney. He finally got called the little bastard.

TLK
01-04-2004, 02:35 AM
my favorite comment was something to the effect of:

"Watch me and you might just end up on WPT"

Huckleberry
01-04-2004, 02:45 AM
Oh well. Finished 72nd. Lost with Aces and Jacks to a flush. Saw the risk but had to take it at 2:45 in the morning.

TLK
01-04-2004, 03:02 AM
went all in with 5/5 preflop.... against 10/10 and A/K os..... went home packing.... time to get some sleep

Thomkal

Are there Poker Stars tourneys every day? Just curious, I've only seen one listed in my short time there. Not that I'd be any good of course if I were to enter one of course. :)

SirFozzie
01-04-2004, 08:04 AM
there are freeroll tournaments every day and night, but the weekday afternoon ones are limited

QuikSand
01-04-2004, 08:46 AM
So, this is a free tournament, where you can win real money, right? And people by the boatload line up to play. I'm guessing that the payouts are meaningful, but not overwhelming.

Just seems to me that it wouldn't be worthwhile to sit around for three or four hours playing against numbskull oposition (which it sounds like you have) for some slim chance to win fifty or a hundred bucks. But perhaps this preys on people's perception that their only investment is the money... and not the time and effort involved.

Well, good luck all.

I largely agree with you, but aren't you assuming that the only reward is the prize money, and not any fun had or experience gained while actually playing?

Huckleberry
01-04-2004, 10:48 AM
QS -

What is the payoff for sitting for hours on end in front of the FOF interface? Seems to me the entertainment value is the real point.

Why are they all in the wee hours of the morning?

I am at TruePoker and PartyPoker. Damn, does this mean I ought to download AP and Stars as welll!!

Quiksand, some of the best times Ive ever had playing games on my computer were when I made the last table in a few of those monster Stars tournaments. The players are not all horrible, especially when you are under 300 or so left. It's a blast, and good practice for the real thing (again, especially when you are near the end). And it's not as if there is not a return on investment here. I qualified for the weekly AP tournament via freeroll, and made $35 today in the challenge by finishing fourth (out of 233). All this while having a better time than I usually did playing TCY.

TLK
01-04-2004, 11:42 PM
AP FreeRoll registering in about 20 minutes. I entered the early one but the gf was nagging at me to go shovel snow, so once again I went for the "Little Nicky" all in exit.....

RPI-Fan
01-04-2004, 11:46 PM
I'm around 10k... can't see how many people are left. I'm getting great cards so far.

RPI-Fan

TLK
01-04-2004, 11:53 PM
dola....

that's one thing I love about Stars. Their tournaments are sortable by player name, when your looking for somebody....

korme

i hit register on the tourney and nothing is happening!!

RPI-Fan
01-05-2004, 12:02 AM
Up to just over 12k. Won a 4k pot on a coinflip (77 vs. 9Tx)

TLK
01-05-2004, 12:06 AM
Another thing I like about Stars is that their software actually works more than 50% of the time :)

Didn't the TPF fanboy who hit the register button 16 times and thusly ordering $300-worth of TPF teach you your lesson Shorty?

stevew
01-05-2004, 12:18 AM

korme
01-05-2004, 12:18 AM
Hey, if I close AP and re-open I don't lost my registration do I? I am STILL getting repeated messages about me already joining (I clicked it alot :)), so this won't harm me will it?

korme
01-05-2004, 12:18 AM

I need to see how my crappy Reds pitching staff is gonna fare

TLK

4600 and sitting

Celeval
01-05-2004, 01:27 AM
I was able to coax one decent pot out of a flush, but that's it - I'm around $2700.

korme
01-05-2004, 01:29 AM
You guys are pros. I am too aggressive, I get a hand and think I can always get a straight or something. I am sitting at $1260.

korme
01-05-2004, 01:33 AM
TLK you are at table 74, I checked your info, if anyone wants to watch him.

Celeval

Up to $4300 after flopping three sevens.

Celeval

korme

102/700 not bad for a first time tourney player, if only I had hung on to break the Top 100!

Celeval
01-05-2004, 02:35 AM
Couple bad plays on this end, I'm back down to about $9k

Celeval

Celeval
01-05-2004, 02:40 AM

Celeval
01-05-2004, 02:46 AM

AP 7 Card Stud 12:00am EST Registering at 11:00pm (EST)

Pumpy Tudors
01-06-2004, 10:26 PM
I did pretty well in the only AP freeroll I played (as some of you may remember), but I can't recall how long the tournaments tend to last. I don't really want to spend more than 90 minutes on tonight's AP freeroll if I can help it, but I want to have a shot at winning. Should I register?

TLK
01-06-2004, 10:34 PM

I'm in the midnight one as well.

Pumpy Tudors

Celeval
01-07-2004, 12:02 AM
I've played too aggressively tonight, although it's paid off some... my big win was with a sizeable raise coming to me moving allin after flopping four to a flush; drawing an A-high, and getting three callers. Pulled in $7k

Celeval
01-07-2004, 12:10 AM
Bah. Lost about $4k on the last two hands on the river each time (flush draw, pair draw)

TLK
01-07-2004, 12:14 AM

Celeval
01-07-2004, 01:15 AM
Yeah, I was far too aggressive. Had Queen-high flop, got a raise to me that would have been all-in to me; only myself and the chips leader at the table who has shown bluff before. I had the Q paired... went in, turned out he did as well, with an ace kicker.

Last night or early this morning...I finished 26th overall on Poker Stars freeroll. I lost a huge hand on two pair, due to a lower kicker in hand. I think I had K6 and my opponent had K8...tough loss when it was for 180k. I was up to around 220k before the hand, the win would have surely put me at #1 or 2 of 33 remaining. Oh well...

Do play in the AP freeroll tourney's do you have to deposit money or just download the software and sign up? Can you register over the web or do you need to download and install the software and register from within it?

Dunno about the regging (did it awhile ago) but I don't have any money in AP and I signed up, so no, you don't need to deposit money to enter.

I was wondering why I didn't remember seeing you Matt...and then realized you probably played in the earlier tourney, right? I played only in the 3am ET tourney...

That AP freeroll coming up shortly is a V2 test. Last one of those I entered was nightmare because of software issues.

I noticed that. If the software is bugged then I'll just sit out or leave alltogether. Hopefulyl since it is for some money it'll be fine...we'll see.
