Okay, finally fixed my "not being on the internet according to AP" problem.....what should I expect here? Lots of people doing crazy ass bids early on? Good strategy to fold early and often?

I intentionally lost at Poker Stars. I'm never gonna stay up late enough for that one.

I gained back some of my losses on table 77. Tried to scare them off and went all in with A 6 after a 7 9 3 flop. Got lucky as the turn and the river were both Aces.

up to 8,000 at Stars...... getting tired though and I'm running on two hours sleep...... I think I'm about to go Little Nicky on them....

I checked on Little Nicky himself (I got moved). He was at 10,600 and I checked 10 seconds later and he was out of the tourney. He finally got called the little bastard.

my favorite comment was something to the effect of:

Oh well. Finished 72nd. Lost with Aces and Jacks to a flush. Saw the risk but had to take it at 2:45 in the morning.

Are there Poker Stars tourneys every day? Just curious, I've only seen one listed in my short time there. Not that I'd be any good of course if I were to enter one of course. :)

there are freeroll tournaments every day and night, but the weekday afternoon ones are limited

So, this is a free tournament, where you can win real money, right? And people by the boatload line up to play. I'm guessing that the payouts are meaningful, but not overwhelming.

Just seems to me that it wouldn't be worthwhile to sit around for three or four hours playing against numbskull oposition (which it sounds like you have) for some slim chance to win fifty or a hundred bucks. But perhaps this preys on people's perception that their only investment is the money... and not the time and effort involved.

I largely agree with you, but aren't you assuming that the only reward is the prize money, and not any fun had or experience gained while actually playing?

Quiksand, some of the best times Ive ever had playing games on my computer were when I made the last table in a few of those monster Stars tournaments. The players are not all horrible, especially when you are under 300 or so left. It's a blast, and good practice for the real thing (again, especially when you are near the end). And it's not as if there is not a return on investment here. I qualified for the weekly AP tournament via freeroll, and made $35 today in the challenge by finishing fourth (out of 233). All this while having a better time than I usually did playing TCY.

AP FreeRoll registering in about 20 minutes. I entered the early one but the gf was nagging at me to go shovel snow, so once again I went for the "Little Nicky" all in exit.....

I'm around 10k... can't see how many people are left. I'm getting great cards so far.

that's one thing I love about Stars. Their tournaments are sortable by player name, when your looking for somebody....

Up to just over 12k. Won a 4k pot on a coinflip (77 vs. 9Tx)

Another thing I like about Stars is that their software actually works more than 50% of the time :)

Yeah, I was far too aggressive. Had Queen-high flop, got a raise to me that would have been all-in to me; only myself and the chips leader at the table who has shown bluff before. I had the Q paired... went in, turned out he did as well, with an ace kicker.

36th place finish..... I was playing smart but didn't have the chip count to keep up with the big boys

Last night or early this morning...I finished 26th overall on Poker Stars freeroll. I lost a huge hand on two pair, due to a lower kicker in hand. I think I had K6 and my opponent had K8...tough loss when it was for 180k. I was up to around 220k before the hand, the win would have surely put me at #1 or 2 of 33 remaining. Oh well...

I'm in the 8pm...

Finished 24th at stars last night myself. Allin with JJ and got called by AT :( Irritating when a guy that shouldn't call does and gets lucky. Was better than 2 to 1 there. 24th still good showing.

Do play in the AP freeroll tourney's do you have to deposit money or just download the software and sign up? Can you register over the web or do you need to download and install the software and register from within it?

Download and install and register from inside the progam.... you can find the FreeRoll under Tournaments - Multi...

Dunno about the regging (did it awhile ago) but I don't have any money in AP and I signed up, so no, you don't need to deposit money to enter.

That AP freeroll coming up shortly is a V2 test. Last one of those I entered was nightmare because of software issues.

Most of the tests go fine. They dont all though.

I noticed that. If the software is bugged then I'll just sit out or leave alltogether. Hopefulyl since it is for some money it'll be fine...we'll see.
