I sent this to my commish as well, but thought i'd post it here to see if anyone knew..............This is going into week 1 regular season.

Hi, i'm trading a couple players to Jacksonville (T Spears and WR Douglas). So i have my roster at 55 players right now, 46 active (the 2 players i'm trading are inactive). I go to export my file, and the game warns me that i'm over the 53 man limit, and that the CPU will adjust my roster to get it to 53 men if i don't do it. What should i do? Should i cut the 2 guys that i traded to Jax? Or can you move them from my roster to his before the CPU makes any unwanted adjustments to my roster?

I don't know the answer, but it sounds like a trouble spot in MP. If trades aren't processed until after the game, then it sounds like you have no choice but to go into the week with 53 players.

Good question, I think you would have to cut 2 other guys to be down to 53. I don't think you can cut the guys to be traded because this will screw up their salary situation. The team getting the players would have to sign them as free agents, which in most cases would be much higher than their current salary for the next few years that remain on their contract (thus eliminating one of the advantages in trading for guys currently under contract for the next few years).

actually, if you cut them and the other team signed them, I would think they would sign one-year contracts at minimum amounts, so that's out of the question. If the only time the commissioner can execute a trade is after the games are simmed, then it sounds like you're screwed.

So in other words, you're saying the trade isn't going to work simply because it falls on the roster cut sim. I strategically set it up so that this trade got me down to 53 players. Now it looks like because of the way the game is set up, it's going to blow up in my face. Oh well............
