Using the utilities kindly provided by both the game and the fellow with the editor I made some new players (me and my friends of course) to be in the next new league I play.

Problem - some of them, especially the wide receivers, seem to be being put in the wrong pool of players - I think it was defensive linemen for flankers. They show up as having the right position graphically (they have the nice FL tag, not DE or DT) but they show lineman stats and are in the lineman player pools.

Anyone seen this? Anyone know a way around it? Is it on the list of issues to be in the next patch? IS there going to be a next patch? Heh.

Some superstar running backs and wide receivers eagerly wait your word on when they can start playing their position instead of getting smushed by some 300 pount tackle....

No one's seen this? Or is the answer so obvious its not worth responding to?

You might want to specify which editor you have been using. Without that piece of information it's quite hard to make even a guess at what's causing your problems...

I'm just editing the spreadsheet in excel after using the program that puts it into comma-delimited form, thats in the sticky thread at the top of this forum.

Actually I think I edit the real-players excel spreadsheet file thats in that form that you download, and then transform it into a player file using that editor. However the players in that spreadsheet don't have the problem, only certain new players, and I'm not seeing anything to differenciate the two.
