Next to NFL Ticket it's the greatest invention of mankind in the last 20 years. I thought I would share.
That is all.

You need to get yourself a wireless keyboard as well. You have NO idea how far I am from my computer right now!

I've always wondered about the wireless keyboards. Isn't there a pretty fixed limit of how far you can get from your monitor and still be able to read what you're typing?

The ability to move the keyboard to your lap when you need to type and then out of your immediate desk area is priceless.

Get one of those Infocus projectors that was mentioned in a TV thread a month or so ago and you can view your computer output at 80" by 60" without any computer knowledge at all. :)

sometimes, the keyboard in the lap gets in the way... like ummm... when you need to move the mouse.

Anyways, I love my optical wireless mouse. I have a logitech- cost maybe $40. Batteries are kindof a concern but not really. I just have a set of 8 rayovac renewals. The outlet in the bathroom right under the night light is always devoted to recharging batteries (unless something else is plugged in like a radio). So, whenever my mouse batteries (or the wavebird for my Gamecube) die, I just go replace them with the charging batteries. Been doing this for at least 2 years now and it's great. There's the sunk cost of the initial batteries and charger but that's it. Plus it's environmentally happy.

I really don't use it to go too far away. Mostly just if I'm doing work on my bed, or watchin TV...if someone drops me an IM, its nice to be able to talk to them without havin to get to the computer (hey...I'm a lazy college student). Also, as mentioned, like reclining in my nice chair with keyboard in lap. It's all about comfort.
My roommate worked at Best Buy, so he was able to use his discount to get this (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1055770478015&skuId=5706239&type=product&productCategoryId=cat01060) for $50 and a set of rechargeable Energizer batteries for $15. Hell of a deal.

I tried to get a Microsoft wireless keyboard / optical mouse package for dirt cheap the day after Thanksgiving, but they sold out too quickly. :(
