It's safe to say ViaTech has noticed the bandwidth crunch.

Unfortunately, not much we can do right now. The current load is so far beyond normal that it can't be addressed. We appreciate your patience - downloading will take a long time with more than 50 people accessing the server at the same time.

So far, 54 orders. But strangely enough, more people than that were downloading the executable at once.

Sorry about making the download 29 MB. A lot of that is the texturized backgrounds (which I'm sure some of you will have a lot of fun customizing, so it's worth it in the long run).

That would be appreciated. Just make sure to get rid of it once the crunch is over. That way, patches don't have to be coordinated (of course, I'm hoping no patch is necessary, but there's just too much new code for that to be a possibility).

Just checked my cable modem speed with a bandwidth test. I'm at 3.6 mbs, 441kps downstream. In theory, I should be able to download a 1 MB file in 2.3 seconds.

Download: 4.43 kbs, 1 hour, 31 minutes to go. Eek!

Guess Viatech wasn't ready for us. :) But it's OK -- we'll get it soon enough.

Estimated time remaining to download 13+ hours. That's on extra high speed cable connection (3.5 mpbs, not the normal 1.5)

Oh ... now it's 36+ hours.

I've emailed ViaTech about that. I know they just implemented address verification with credit card orders.

You might want to contact them directly - make sure they only charge your credit card once.
