I have a question about the "playing time" thing in TCY and in the later versions of FOF.
It's something that wasn't available in FOF2 and I was happy that way.

Now, I have no choice but to cope with it so here is my question: What should we put to be certain the starter plays 80% of the action ?

7 ?
8 ?

OK...now if I put my starting QB at "8", does that mean that my backup will enter the game in "2 plays out of 10" or something like that ??? and what if I don't want the backup to play at all ? I put "9" ?

ok but then, will the AI switch my QB if he play poorly or will keep the starter despite his 5 INTs in one quarter just because he has a "9" aside his "Playing time" number...

Also, what does that mean exactly when I put a "2" for "Starter's playing time" ??? is he really a "starter" if he plays something like 2 out of 9 ?

Please tell me how this thing works...

The help file says that a value of 1 means that the player will substitute out half of the time. A 9 means the player will stay in as many plays as possible.

Based on that, I would say that an 8 would not mean an 80%, if a 1 is 50%.

That said, I have no idea how these values are affected by bad performance. In TCY, players are subbed out in the second half during a blowout. I've noticed this in FOF4, but not as often, but then blowouts are not as common in FOF4 as they are in TCY. I don't remember seeing a starter pulled by the AI for bad performance in either game, unless the bad performance leads to said blowout.

I "think" the start time number is a relative value of how often the guy will play. Don't forget however that the endurance rating also plays a big part.

A player with a 2 starting time but 100 in endurance ends up playing almost the whole game, I've found.

ok, so what would you recommend for a player (starter) whom you want to see play as much as possible in the game.

8 ?

in FOF as well or did you experience that in TCY only ?

With QB's, the start time relates to how likely the QB is to be pulled in the case of an injury. High setting means he'll have to be really hurt to come out; low setting means he'll come out with a scratch or bruise. I believe this is how the other positions work, but since they are more exhausting than QB, their PT is based also on just general fatigue.

thanks for the inputs.
Another question since we're on this: How do YOU work this out ?
Do you leave the AI's assigned playing time number or do you tweak them by yourself ?
Do you see any significant difference ?
