Steelers. If they don't choke against Atlanta they would have had home field throughout last year, plus all year with Maddox.

That's pretty funny. It's a good thing you're not in my FOFC Wrestling league. I'd make you fight in a handicap match against Darkiller and Digamma. Hey....that gives me an idea.

I say Pittsburgh. Miami always finds a way to choke at the end of the year. I think Maddox is the real deal, and recievers will step it up (again :D).

Cuz Pittsburgh never chokes? :D

How the hell did the Jets not make it as an option. I mean, c'mon, Indy? Jerk-off motion

the jets didn't make it as an option because the Jets {jerk off motion} are one of the 4 worst teams in the AFC this season.

I actually Voted for Kansas City, its Year Three for these guys, and you all know where that coach goes in year three....Super Bowl baby.

I really can't stand the Chiefs, but I gotta believe the history of Vermiel....

Just read something interesting about Maddox before and after his big scaring injury (concussion of the spine or whatever it was)...

QB ratings before the injury: 116.1
QB ratings after the injury: 69.1

Which one will we see this season???

I'd like to see an explanation of this four worst teams theory.

All the teams from the AFC East are in the poll except the defending division champs. That's ridiculous.

Its based on the Jets losing KEY personel during the offseason and not adding much in the way of replacements. Its based on comparing this team to the others in its division and all but guarenteeing a last place finish. The jets don't stack up against anyone in the east.

The AFC west has 4 teams that could win the east.

The South has two weak teams, Jax and Houston, and honestly, a Jax Jets game is a push.

Then we come to the North, Pittsburgh I think is better, Cincy and baltimore would be a close match, and the jets are better than the Browns.

So looking at this you have the Texans, Browns, Jets and possibly the Jags and Ravens and Bengals, on a par with the jets.

I personally think the Bengals are a more talented team, and the ravens play better football overall, leaving the Jets as one of the 4 weakest/worst teams in the AFC in 2003.

hows that?

oykib

I think that's ridiculous. The AFC has the best balance of any division in the NFL. I won't say that it's the best because the top isn't as good as the NFC East or NFC South.

But the Jets, Miami, and New England are better than any team in the West except for the Raiders. The Raiders also have question marks because of their age and possible problems with their pass rush.

Ok, even if I concede that I may overvalue the AFC west, that doesn't change the fact that the jets aren't on the same level. The Jets were not a dominating team last year. They weren't even the best team in their division. yes they won the division, but teams can win divisions with crap records, its happened many times.

Take a real hard look at the depth charts, the Jets simply do not have the talent level at the skill positions on offense or defense.

Maybe I'm wrong, its just my opinion. I have yet to see the Jets be a truly dominant team, even when they had the overall talent to do so. Like the dolphins chiking at the end of the season, the Jets never seem to play up to the level they should. That fact, and their weakened roster, to me at least, adds up to a 6-10 at best record and dead last in the AFC East.

but hey, its just a prediction. They could shock us all and win it. of course Miami could fold at the half way point yet again, the bills defense could be worse than last season, and the patriots could decide not to show up for a game or 10.....there are always possibilities.....

George Bush could have been a really intelligent man too....

I agree with you that we'll see.

BTW, do you mean 41 or 43? ;)

The Jets success will rely heavily on two things:

1) Is Chad Pennington really an upper tier QB?

How will he react to changing defenses? Teams have now had a chance to watch him on film with a year's worth of games. I remember the Jets/Broncos game last year. The Jets won on an INT near the end zone late. The Broncos dropped 2 sure INT's that would have been taken to the house. That was a hot Jets team WITH Coles. I'm NOT going to write of Chad as a great QB yet. Maybe he is the next Joe Montana (weak arm (although Pennington's is REALLY weak), razor sharp mind, can move the ball on anyone at anytime) I just want to see another year as proof.

2) Mr. Robertson

If he's not as good as advertised, teams will be able to run on the Jets all day and all night. Right up the gut. Chester McGlockton as your number two? Good luck.

I like the pass rush. (I expect Thomas will be better and Abraham is a stud) The LB core is above average, but isn't especially fast. The defensive backfield? They finished 21rst against the pass last year and didn't make any big improvement in that area.

I had to predict now? I don't think they make the playoffs.

Does this really matter? 41 puked on the prime minister of japan and 43 can't spell CAT when given the C and the T and hint "its the first letter of the alphabet mr. president...."

I'll go with DolphinFan on this one and pick the Steelers, as well.

However, Kodos should know better than not to end the poll with something comical. How could you pass up a chance to use the Bengals here?

Steelers? Yeah, I picked the Steelers. To lose to Miami in the AFC Championship game.

I would love to see Oakland and New England meet in the AFC championship. I think I am the only Raider fan that really believes Brady didn't fumble.

It will be tough for the raiders to make it back, and with New England at 12 to 1 for a superbowl appearance I am tempted to pop on over to Vegas and plunk down a bet.

The problem with that projection is that most people assume Miami will be running the football in order to have any measure of success. Unfortunately for the Fins, the Steelers are rock solid against the run...guess they'll have to air it out. If Bell can stay healthy (and with the instant improvement in their secondary resulting from Lee Flowers being in Denver) that may be a more difficult proposition this season.

I, of course, picked Pittsburgh. ;)

If the change of scenery agrees with Plummer, Denver might have to argue with that assesment ;).

I personally can't see the jets beating any of the teams in the west. If their defense shows up they might give the chargers a fair game, but Denver, KC, and Oakland are all much more talented teams.

I just can't put my faith in a 2nd year starter at QB, no depth at all at reciever and a RB who may or may not play to the level he has in the past....

I don't want to seem like I'm only bashing the Jets, I currently live in New England and I keep hearng from Jets and Giants and pats fans going on and on about how great their squads are this year, between the three of them only the pats really have a deep team....

I'm just bitter as my best hopes right now (The bengals) lie in a .500 season....
