Man, there were quite a few times tonight where I just about wrote them off, but I have to give the Mavs credit, they found ways to come back from their deficits and come out with the squeaker victory. I wonder how much this game is going to take out of the teams. Hope the game tomorrow isn't sluggish and ugly.

Anyways, tonights game was incredible, and I was so glad to see the Mavs win...

And he screwed up his job in the one minute, too! He was brought in for the jump ball at the start of the second overtime, but of course he lost the tip, the ball went straight to Bobby Jackson, and Jackson went straight to the bucket for the layup. I swear, he's friggen 7'6" and can't even win the stupid tip...

To me, this game was incredibly important. Up 2-1 with homecourt advantage against a team with no Chris Webber, I think the Mavs will coast to a series victory.

If they went down 2-1 I think the Mavs might have found a way to lose this series. I predict a 4-2 series win now though.

not bad for a team that was written off ( you know who you were) after game 1.

Dola-

I'll admit it, after game 1 I thought that they were done. Before the series started I really thought they had a chance to take the series. But lafter istening to all the local "experts" say that it was going to be a sweep or five games and after seeing that first game, well, it made me feel like the "experts" knew what they were talking about and that I was just a homer. But trust me, I've learned my lesson, these Mavs are different than the ones from the past couple of years. These Mavs don't know the meaning of the word die. You won't find me doubting the Mavs anymore...

The Mavs are good, but I just don't know if they have enough defense to win it all...

But damn they are fun to watch.

It's not over yet, but all the ones who said the Mavs were getting swept.... where ya at?

Dirk is the most underrated forward in the NBA.

I never expected the Mavs to get swept. The Kings-Mavs went toe-to-toe last year in the same round. Hopefully the Kings can battle back.

Actually, the Kings took it to the Mavs last year four games to one. That's one of the reasons everyone expected the Kings to make quick work of the Mavs this year...

Mavs didn't look so good in game 4...

I think whoever wins Tuesday wins the series.

Back to Big D for game five. I think they can take that game. Too bad I have to work every night this week except for tonight. I'm probably going to miss the rest of the series...

Yes ... but there were a few rough and tumble, down to the wire games that could have gone either way.

One game the Kings won was similar to Game 3. Kings were down big and had to fight back to win in OT. The Mavs did that this time.

The Mavs are a good team and I think too many people underestimate them. And this year's Mavs are much better than last year's.

I know what you're saying Jeeber. I have today off and Wednesday off at work...can't seem to get the days off when I need them. I need to make a trip to big D anyway considering that I plan on moving there this summer. It stinks too, because I don't have a tv to watch the game.

Well, I didn't get to watch the game tonight, but the game we had the game on the radio in the kitchen. I was a little worried when the Mavs got down early, but I didn't fret too much since I knew that they could come back. Fortunatly, they proved me right and kicked ass in the second half. I hope they can take care of business in Sacto, I don't want it to have to go to game seven...

Hehe...that would be funny if allas and Detrit ran into each other in the finals. I don't think the Pistons can handle the Mavs, though. Just too many matchup problems. I think the Mavs would be much harder pressed against the Nets who can thrive in a fast paced offensive tempo.

29-10 in the third quarter and they did not let up after that.

Way to go Mavs!! Now, just win game 6 ok? Do not let this thing go a seventh game, please?

Thanks!

It'll be a damn good series, that's for sure, and either team is capable of taking it. If the Mavs can keep up their good shooting, the series is theirs.

Mavs in seven...

mrskippy

If the Mavs win the series, they will win the Finals. And deservedly so. They sure can shoot the damn ball.

The problem with the Kings in this series was they couldn't transition and almost always gave the Mavs open looks. You can't do that on a team full of shooters.

Everyone saying that the Kings lost because of Chris Webber being out is just using it as an excuse. They've won before without him and without many key players during the season.

The Kings flat out choked and couldn't keep up with the Mavs.

05-20-2003, 01:53 AM
Wow. Going into this game I thought that they were likly to lose game one before they turned it on (similair to the series against the Kings). And it looked like it was going to come out like I predicted. How the Mavs managed to come back I'll never now. Wait, I lie. Of course I know how they came back. It's damn hard to beat a team that hits 49 out of 50 free throws in a single game. That's an absolutly amazing performance by the Mavs at the line. I've never seen anything like that before.

Anyways, I still stand by my original prediction for the series, Mavs in seven...

cincyreds
05-20-2003, 07:54 AM
whooo hoooo!

They did it! They did it!! They pulled it off.

49 straight free throws!! WOW!

113-110! I am so proud of those guys for not giving up!

Bleh.

A year later and the same first round series, but things are going differently for the Mavs this time around. It's gonna be hard for them to come back from a 3-1 hole.

Wonder if Nellie is gone if they lose this one...

Franklinnoble
04-26-2004, 11:50 PM
They had every chance to win that game... Honestly, the Mavs lost it more than the Kings won it... but give Sacramento credit... they can play a little defense when they put their minds to it.

But really, after watching these two teams play last night, does anyone get the impression that it matters who wins this series? That either team could go on and win another series?

cincyreds
04-27-2004, 09:00 AM
Jeeber, I thought the Mavs would take games 3 and 4, but once again I am wrong(cries).

I think Nellie is gone if they lose game 5. Also they need to get rid of A. Walker and NOT Jamison the 6th man of the year.

The future does look bright with those 2 rookies Howard and Daniels though.

GO MAVS GO!

It will be tough to win 3 in a row.

HornedFrog Purple
04-27-2004, 09:37 AM
I don't understand the backlash over Walker. If it was not for him for a stretch in the middle of the season, they would have lost 10 more games.

Don Nelson just needs to suck it up and admit the Shawn Bradley experiment failed, deal Nash and get someone here in the middle to disrupt things. Whomever it is doesn't even have to score, they got plenty of that already. When they switch to the fake zone they get murdered.

Franklinnoble
04-27-2004, 09:39 AM
First, I think the Kings can take Minnesota in the next round, assuming they advance.

Second, I don't get why Nellie's head would be called for in Dallas. Is there a better coach available? Someone who could do more with that team? The Mavericks are a top team in a very tough conference - I don't know if a coaching change is really going to make them much better.

HornedFrog Purple
04-27-2004, 09:42 AM
It doesn't matter if they fire Nellie, Donnie is the heir apparent anyways. Cuban tied him up long term for that reason when he was being sought after by several teams.
