Hi everyone,
Hope you're all doing well!
As part of our ongoing efforts to spread the word about Out of the Park Baseball, we are pleased to announce that we are now offering OOTP 8 for FREE for Windows and Mac.
You can download the free version of OOTP 8 here:
Download OOTP 8 Free (PC) (http://www.ootpdevfiles.com/ootp/ootp8freesetup.exe)
Download OOTP 8 Free (Mac OSX) (http://www.ootpdevfiles.com/ootp/ootp8free.dmg)
This is a fully functional version of OOTP 8. There are no restrictions or limitations. (The game ships with 2007 rosters...)
Over the next few weeks we will be conducting some additional marketing activities around this free release, so you'll likely see us active on Facebook, Twitter, a newsletter, and so forth.
If you know people who haven't tried OOTP yet, please help us spread the word! After all, this is still the 2nd best rated PC game of all time on Metacritic.com and won the PC Game of the Year 2007 award there. :)
Thanks!
Markus

How about an OOTP9 price cut? ;)

LOL ;) The idea is that people can try out OOTP without any demo notifications/limitations, and if they like the game they might consider buying OOTP 10 or 11...
I mean, there are so many fantasy baseball fans ( = baseball fans who like stats and can use a computer) out there who have never heard about OOTP, and this is our effort to reach some more of these people.
Good deal Markus, the previous free game i think it was 6.5, still based on the old interface and very different to OOTPX, this way users can know better how is the new game, even having huge differences.

Damn, no luck. You weren't doing linux versions then? Oh well, I already know the game so I guess I am not the target audience here anyways..

I think they made ootp5 free wasn't it? I think there are many people who would love a free version of 6.5 from the sounds of things. (Doesn't affect me since I already own 6.5)

Was there a linux version of ootp8? I thought ootp9 was the first one with a linux version?

1. Thanks for the free game.
2. Don't think I am going to be able to get past that busy interface. Five minutes gave me a headache. No full screen doesn't help matters.

I know in 10 you can set the window size to the same as your resolution to get full screen.

I prefer the old school interface, circa 6.5... The newer one makes me break out in hives

I can't speak for anyone else, but from me: thanks a ton! :)
I'm going to have to give it a whirl. I've always heard good things about the game and I tried the older free version but was turned off pretty quickly because it crashed quite a bit on my setup and I lost my data a couple of times. That said, I could definitely see a great game there and if this is more stable, consider getting future releases.

Cool. Nice upgrade from the free version 5. Should introduce a lot of new people to the game.

Kickass, thanks Markus!
Question for the OOTP regulars, are there any mods or add-ons that are must have?
