Need some serious help with this offense in one of my leagues. I have a QB who is a 6th year player, knows 17 formations, and is 58/58. For some reason, I can't score points. I'm last in the league in scoring. I have a stud TE who is 75/75 with a 90 on Avoid Drops, 46 Getting Downfield, 88 on Route Running, 100 3rd Down Catching. A 64/64 FL who has 100 Avoid drops, 53 Getting Downfield, 63 Route Running, 71 3rd down Catching, 100 Adjust To Ball. My run game is non existent, no matter what I do--run heavy, balanced, pass heavy. Last game I managed to get 111 yards on 20 carries between 2 backs, but as soon as I run more the yards per carry really drop. My QB will complete anywhere between 60-75% of his passes, but my drives ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS stall. Whether it's turnovers in the red zone, or being forced to kick FGs. I have had multiple games this season in which I had a ton of completions, but few points. My QB is 91 on Screens, 100 on Short Passes, 66 Timing, 73 Sense Rush, 69 Read Defense. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated, as I've read through this forum on offensive help several times, and nothing I've read has helped thus far. :banghead:

Ok, I'm a noob myself so take this with a grain of salt ok. I think the TE needs to be more effective at the big play. FL seems ok, but you also need a big play receiver as well. My flanker who is whoever coach rex picks, but my SE's are as follows. 1 SE, get down field highest rating. 2 SE, who ever has the best rating other than 1st SE and 1st FL at big play. Perhaps I'm wrong but it works more me.

Just to add some facts to the discussion... if by WCO you mean that you are running a short-pass attack, here are things to keep in mind:
-For your QB, Accuracy is a key rating in getting short passes to turn into YAC gainers. You don't even mention that rating above, I'm guessing it's a weakness?
-For your WR, your comparably important rating is Getting Downfield. (It may be counterintuitive, but in FOF "getting downfield" means turning short passes into big gains, while "big play receiving" means catching passes downfield) Your WR is fine but not spectacular, and your TE is nothing special there. These guys are not helping you in the short passing offense with those ratings.
-Most importantly, if you are panicking over results from one game here and another game there, chill out. Tons of fluky things happen in the short run, don't draw major conclusions over tiny sample sizes.
Hope that gives some things to chew on.

I listed only the strengths for my QB. His accuracy is a whopping 17 and his deep passes(31+) are 61. I'm not talking about a game here and there. We've played 12 games so far, and 6 of those I've scored 10 points or less. This same QB 2 seasons ago before I took the team over threw for 4048 and completed 72.8% of his passes with 30 TDs against only 11 INTs. So, I think it's me not being able to find the right game plan. I've gone pass heavy on 1st down, ala 2002 Raiders-fail. Tried 9ers west coast offense with the balance of pass and run on 1st-fail. Tried to run majority on 1st down, then use the short passing game on 2nd and 3rd-fail. Just looking for someone else's experience with a QB with similar stats and what they do to get points.

I'm just a noob myself, but in the 20 SP seasons I've played now the average run yardage per game over a season was never below 100 - most years around 120, two years reaching 150 run yard average per game - and total pass yardage per season was around 3700 to 4100 yard per season (or better around an average of 250 pass yard per game..)
I play very run heavy. I set up my basic offensive game plan so that in certain yardage/down combinations only certain formations will be used. So take a close look at the offensive formation use and it's ranges (0-9% run, 10-29% run, 30-44% run etc..) and arrange your gameplan according to those, to get fitting formations for those yards needed/down situations.
I don't use screen passes, or passes in the range from 0-4 yard. So in the miscallaneous Offensive Settings there's a 0% for Screens, a 2% for 0-4 and 98% for 5-8 yard passes. And the "long" passing values were adjusted to fit the skills of my QB - an around 70ish short passer with 95 Acc, 69 3rd down Passing and high read defense and sense rush.. over his 9 year career his completion-% is around 65%.. most of that short/medium passes in 3rd and long situations. As my WRs are quite lousy, his 3rd down completion-% is only around 50%
And as cmdrsam wrote: You'll need more than one good receiver.. a good FL with high RR, GD and AD for the long passes, and then a SE with all those and high 3rd Down catching are needed.
To successfully implement the run, I guess You need the fitting RB - run and 3rd down catching - and blockers (.. FB/TE who also can catch and block..) so your' linemen need to be good at run AND pass blocking.. And, though I do not know for certain that it really works ;), I always - meaning: before each matchup - adjust the run directions according to the run defense skills of my opponent.
I do not know if my "strategies" would work in a MP surrounding.. in SP they worked good enough for seven bowl wins and further eight playoff visits.. five losing seasons.. due to bad drafting, an QB who got old and the starting WR/RB getting too old without replacements in the same skill range..
Hope this helps a bit..

As far as I know, the very critical components to having a successful West Coast offense are QB Accuracy and WR Getting Downfield. With that roster, I might try running some more 3WR sets and keeping the TE off the field except for 3rd and shorts. Reason being, he's stealing pass attempts with that huge route running.
I've not exactly put together any offensive juggernauts in MP, though, so take it for what it's worth. Just passing some of the conventional wisdom. Based on those ratings, I don't think WC is your best option.

I've been using a form of the West Coast offense, mainly because my QB doesn't have the skill set to throw passes in the medium to long range. I don't have the RB to run a Smash Mouth offense, even though my oline is good. Nor does my QB have attributes to run the Balanced offense. One good thing is, I'll have a high draft pick, so I should be able to pick up a top tier RB, which should help with some of my offensive struggles. I'm just trying to figure out some strategies for the rest of the season to help me with game planning for next year. I'm not having this much trouble in any of my other leagues.
