Is anyone else trying out this free MMO? I haven't played it for very long but am enjoying it so far. It's got a very WoW like vibe, in fact it's extremely similar to WoW in terms of UI and graphics. It's free to play but you can buy diamonds which are used to buy in game items and are even used in some in-game quests, to improve your rewards. I think even with buying a few diamonds it would definitely cost a lot less than a normal MMO, and it has good (WoW-like) graphics and some neat features.

The game uses a dual-class feature which is interesting. There are only 6 basic classes, but once you reach level 10 you can dual class, and go from a Priest to a Priest/Mage for example. There are basic abilities of each class you can always use, but the more advanced abilities you can only use when that class is primary. The cool thing is you can switch which class is primary basically whenever you want. You only get experience for the primary class, so you can control if you want to play one of the classes most of the time or try to keep the classes pretty even.

Every player gets a house and can decorate it, which I like - you can use furniture you buy or find in game to give your character things like xp bonuses, as well. There are also a lot of mounts, some of which are temporary ones you can keep for a day or a week, but also permanent ones. There's also an auction house, crafting system (which is pretty basic,) and most of the other things you'd expect in a bigger title. There's even a PVP server if you're interested in that.

If you get annoyed by the idea of micro-transactions, this is not the game for you. There's an item shop where you can spend diamonds for mounts, furniture, potions, charms, etc, and diamonds can also be spent in some places throughout the game. I haven't found the system too pushy or annoying yet though, and to be honest I don't mind paying a bit for a game of this quality.

Also I recommend this blog, Mystic Worlds, for some good info about the game.

I'm currently playing as Alain on the Artemis server so give me a yell.

Look familiar? My character (a rogue) hanging around in town.

I've never played a MMO before. How lost will I be?

I think it would be a good intro - just don't worry about all the systems - usually they will be introduced via a quest so you can figure out how they work.

Haven't played WoW in a couple years but that screenshot looks very similar, even the little icons. Can this game's creator get in trouble for that?

I was in the beta for a long time. Decent game for a freebie, but not enough to pull me from Warhammer Online and Age of Conan.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. I've wanted to try one.

Assuming I can break away from my re-obsession with The Racing Breed and not get sucked back into Angband.

No, no Path, Angband is calling you....

I've tried on a couple of occasions, to download and install this game and got corrupt files every time. Others have had this problem too. Too bad looks like a nice "WoW-lite".

I found the downloading a bit strange (and the patches take forever, make sure you download the most current version from their website) but I didn't have problems with corrupt files.

I've got friend codes for anyone that wants to give Warhammer Online another shot. Might have some for Age of Conan also... AOC is actually pretty good now that they have had a year to patch it.
