My chick and I are thinking of driving to this little amusement park in the corner of Indiana in Angola. Anybody ever been there?

Used to go there a lot as a kid when we camped at Pokagan St. Park. Then it was primarily Ferris wheel, bumper cars, go karts, ski ball and was always enjoyable. It can't be compared to Cedar Point or Kings Island, but now has some decent rides, water slides and some of the rides that you may skip over at the big parks but are still enjoyable.

The tobaggon run at Pokagon is now closed for the season but something to keep in mind for next year.

Thanks, I appreciate your help. I'm looking for a fun little Americana park. The quaint little authentic parks that have become largely obsolete. This looks like one, and I want ot check it out!

Just go to Cedar Point

I second Cedar Point (http://www.cedarpoint.com/index.cfm) if it's close to you. It's about 45 min from Cleveland and people from all over the world go there. It's an amazing amusement park! You almost need two days to get on most of the rides. One suggestion - try to go during the week.. it gets pretty busy on the weekends.

The Hot Spot is better.

The Hot Spot is better.

But if you put them both together you get the McDLT where the hot stays hot and the cold stays cold.

I can't comment on amusement parks because I scream like a little girl if I get on a roller coaster.

Looks like he is from Detroit... chances are that he knows about Cedar Point. They advertise quite a bit up here and it is a popular day/weekend trip.

Cedar Point is okay, went for Hallow-Weekends last October. It's one of the better of the modern day parks (I call them metal coaster-tropolises). But they have no soul. They have no character. Here, I'll prove it to you. Here are the specials at Fun Spot:

YMCA Day

Children bringing an all A/B report card and get in free

Military ride for free all of the time, thanks for your service

On Fridays, girl and boy scouts get in half price

On Sundays, you get half off rides with a church bulletin

Two days a week grandparents get free rides if they are with their grandchildren.

Now, with all due respect to the modern metal coaster-tropolises that dominate the industry, from King's Island to Cedar Point to Busch Gardens, this is a park with character. This is a park with a heart and soul. This is a small, independently run, park for the local population to enjoy life and each other's company.

It looks like fun!

Its probably too far for you, but there's a great little park like you're describing in central PA called Knoebels. A quaint little park that you can still get in without paying admission (you can buy ride tickets or an unlimited ride pass)

Cedar Point, Kings Island, Busch Gardens, and all of Disney- done that. There is quaint and cool about a old school park with original rides that have questionable saftey and character....I agree with Abe!

We have this little petting zoo/theme park around here called Happy Hollow. It's a fun little place to take young kids to ride little rides and feed the goats ans sheep and such. They also have meerkats and lemurs!

There are special offers much like the ones Abe Sargent listed for the Fun Spot that give it heart and soul big corporate theme parks just don't offer.

For instance, every Tuesday, if you bring in a crock pot full of homemade beef stew, you get 10% off any one ride, as long as you ride only that ride during your visit.

Also, you get 2 for 1 admission for giving the goats a hand release.

Here's the link if you like to have fun!
