Since there's been interest in the game here I thought I would post this. Starting right now you can head over to our webstore and pre-order Draft Day Sports: College Basketball for 33.95 - a 15% savings on its 39.95 retail price! Pre-ordering now will allow you to lock yourself in at that discounted price PLUS you'll be able to participate in an open beta testing process for the game starting on November 5th. Participation in the beta testing is optional so you can use this chance to pre-order to get your hands on the beta version of the game starting next week or just use the pre-order to lock in your price at 33.95 which is not only a discount of 15% but also even lower than previously priced new titles at release. More details on how you can participate in the open beta will be made available this week on our forums.
We've also got news on all of our other titles. Tomorrow we'll be releasing a 1.4.5 update to Draft Day Sports: Pro Basketball which will fix some bugs and address some things like strengthening the home court advantage. We'll also have an updated roster set and the ability to use that roster set either to start before the draft like you can now or right at the start of the season. And since we've got a new update coming and the pro hoops season is about to kick off we're running a special on DDS:PB - its 10% off its original price of 34.95 in the webstore now through October 31st. Hurry though, once November hits this sale will be over.
We've also dropped the price on all of our other titles too. Total Pro Golf 2, Total Pro Golf and Total College Basketball are all available at new lower prices.
We'll also have more DDS:CB screen shots, developer diaries and beta dynasty diaries coming as we near the release of the game. We do not have an official date for release of DDS:CB but we expect it to be in early December so if you just can't wait until then to get a peek jump over to our webstore and pre-order the game today and then look for info on how you can get involved in the open beta starting next week!

I might have to finally get DDS: Pro basketball. I can't stand pro ball, but loved TPB.

Giving this a bump - we released the 1.4.5 update for DDS: Pro Basketball as planned and it contains updated rosters and the ability to start right at the start of the season as opposed to having to start in the offseason prior to the draft and all the offseason moves (like the big trades Boston made). DDS:PB sale ends tomorrow so with the new season kicking off now's the chance to get in for a discount.
I'm in. Nobody makes a better basketball game. Thanks Gary!

How is DDS: Pro Basketball compared to TPB 2005?
I'm assuming the D league is the biggest addition to the game?
Great news Gary, i'll preorder now even knowing i won't be able to play games for a few months with my recent paternity.
Mizzou, apart from the Dleague, another big improvement is the game 2D engine that looks way more fluid than the TPB one. I highly recommend it, even more with the incoming college game being this close to be released.
Btw Gary, did you finally include a way to continue you coach career from the college game to the pro one? I read it was suggested and you were thinking about it in the past.

Thanks Icy!
I'm still debating. ;)

FYI some of the other changes included a play editor, player instructions, watchable simmed summer league games, new draft presentation, etc.

Sounds good Brian.
Edit: What the heck, bought the pro game. See what I can do with the Celtics.

Your little screen before the actual checkout worked on me.
I go into the store expecting to preorder the college game and next thing you know a screen comes up and says, "Hey! Only $30 more for the pro game too!"
I don't even like the NBA, but what the hell, maybe a game could be better than the real thing anyway.
So I got both.

How long will the pre-order discount/invitation for the open beta be available?

Quoting directly from Gary's response to that question on the WS forums:
The pre-order discount will be good through the week at least and probably a little bit into November because we want to get people in testing the game out. The purpose of allowing pre-orderers to have beta copies is to get more eyes on the game before we release it so that we can release the game as bug free as possible.

Since someone mentioned having to wait until payday I don't want anyone who would like to get in on the deals have to miss it because the 1st fell on Thursday so I'm going to let the sale on DDSPB run through Friday. The pre-order and open beta discount will run a little longer than that.

Thanks Gary. Already planning on buying several games this month and this may make my bank account even smaller :)

Ok Pro Basketball fans, I want a challenge.. seeing as Boston now has quite a team with the "big 3", would taking Memphis provide the best challenge?

It all depends on what kind of challenge you are looking. Memphis has a lot fo young players and smaller salaries so you have some room for wheeling and dealing immediately. Of course you might be suck the first year:D . Indiana is in a similar position but have big contracts to deal with.
Or you can try to trade Kobe:D

The Knicks have a bunch of scrubs who make way too much money and so you start off way over the salary cap. That'd be a challenge.

yeah, I echo the Knicks as the toughest challenge.

Knicks might be fun then. I don't know basketball all that well, especially pro basketball, but I had a ton of fun with the Clippers in TPB.

Try Minnesota - they have Al Jefferson and......nothing else and they're in the West. For as bad as the Knicks cap situation is if they had someone other than Isiah running that show they could at least be a playoff team. Randolph, Curry, Lee, Crawford, Marbury - there's enough talent there to get in on the East side. The East isn't as bad as it was a few years back. Detroit, Boston, Chicago and New Jersey should be locks and Lebron can get Cleveland in by himself. Those last three spots are wide open though. The West there's no shot Minnesota gets anywhere near the playoffs. San Antonio, Phoenix, Dallas, Denver, Houston and Utah should be there. New Orleans should get in and you've got Golden State, the Lakers (with Kobe) and a couple others I would guess that have an outside shot at the 8th seed. For as bad as Isiah has been as the GM of the Knicks its scary to think that McHale might actually be worse.

BTW, the sale is still running as of right now on DDS:PB. I'll pull it down some time over the weekend but I'm too busy to do it right now so if you want to get in on it with the 10% discount you still have a chance but do it quick.

That looks like a true challenge. Little talent and some terrible contracts.

I had a really good time playing Total Pro Basketball, so I finally got off my wallet and purchased the Pro/College combo.
For downloading, can I just download the patch, or do I have to download 1.4 and then the patch on top of that?

Thanks Gary, I'll tackle Minnesota then. (no KG though)
RKG - I just downloaded the game and ran patch 1.4.5.

Is there any chance the demo can be updated to the new version, and if not what version is the demo running? I'd like to give that a run before purchasing.

If you haven't used the "expiring demo" you can download the latest version of the game and use the 3 day demo right there. If you used that then we created that second demo that doesn't expire but cuts you off at a point in the season - I don't recall what version that was but I don't think it was that long ago in the builds.
