Another moral victory from the wonderful world of Tiger athletics! At least I took advantage of the ridiculous MU +15.5 and over 145 lines for this game. I would have gladly made no bets though for a Mizzou victory.

Sarcasm intended in last post if anyone actually thinks Tiger fans give a shit about these "moral" victories anymore.

So I guess the +15.5 is why Jonathan Stone was calling this game his "Stone Cold Lock of the Week" on local sports radio ads, huh?

I had +16, but after watching the first half you kinda knew it was gonna come down to the last minute or so. Good game.

I had the +14.5...too many in a rivalry game. My first sports betting memory is in Lake Tahoe and my Dad and his friend came into the Kids Care area where they left me and his son and asked us (at ten years old) whether we liked Kansas or Missouri, given that KU had to win by 17. We both said Mizzou and we both ended up excellent handicappers.

I leaned over, but didn't take it in case KU played some good defense and handled the press all right.

I drove over to the game last night. Never been to Allen before last night. Certainly an interesting old place, though I have no idea how they shoehorn 16,000 into that barn. The crowd was loud, but was honestly no better than the crowds at MU for the MU/KU games. I just wish they would have won so the 300 or so Tiger fans could have walked out of there with a win. We might have been mugged on the way out, but it would have been worth it.

Team played awfully hard and I was really proud of their effort. Sure beats losing by 30 @KU.

Actually it was one of those "Oh geez, we'd better not lose this" kind of games. No offense but when you're favored by those big double digits and losing coming down the stretch, it's not a good night. I know it's a rivalry game and the "sumo midget" theory holds significant sway (I once proposed to a friend of mine that even if Mizzou sent out a team of midget sumo wrestlers, they'd somehow manage to steal one game a year from us) but, ugh, nothing like taking Okie State to the woodshed and then going down to the wire with Iowa State and Mizzou. KU is playing to its competition with alarmingly regularity this year and that's not good for a team looking to avoid another early tourney exit.

Missouri 71, at No. 19 Kansas 63

Trust me -- from personal experience, there is NOTHING better as a Tiger fan than being in Allen Field House and watching your Tigers win. That game was Norm's last trip to Lawrence, and it was a sight. Easily one of my favorite sports moments.

Judging by my office and talk radio, I'm in somewhat of a minority on this game. I thought Missouri played well given the caliber of opponent, but I thought they left a lot of points on the floor. We shot 40 percent from the field, 23 percent from three. I also think Anderson wisely backed off the 40 minutes of hell -- I think he realized that KU's transition game is too good to allow cheap baskets if they start beating the press. We stayed in this game because KU turn the ball over and we were tenacious on the boards. If Missouri shoots even close to their season average, they win this game in a blow out.

On the other side, think KU did what they have done this season -- play to their opponent's level. If they see Florida or Oklahoma State across the way, they bring it. If it's anybody else, they don't KU was bailed out by Collins getting hot late in the second half -- if he doesn't start draining shots and going nuts, KU loses this game.

I thought it was a great game, but if I were a fan of either team I wouldn't be happy. Missouri had a winnable game and let it slip away -- again. This team hasn't figured out how to win yet. Kansas played down to its opponent -- again. This team has all the makings of an early round tournament upset when they face an overachieving mid-major or underachieving major.

Not one iota.

This was also one of those rare days where I strongly disagreed with Soren's take on the whole matter.

I'd like to think I'm not one of those typical sticker KU fans who only cares when basketball season starts, thinks we're God's gift to the game, and should win every game by a billion. I just don't think we're playing all that well this year- we show up for big games and badly play down for small games- and that just seems like a recipe for disaster in March.

I'm not that impressed with Kansas either, but I have Mizzou to worry about.
