although with a non-web-based calendar on my PPC i don't think i have much use for a web-based one. now if there was a downloadable local client for it...sure maybe. especially if the price was right (read free)

Next thing you know, they'll have an email system.

who knows, maybe they'll acquire some online word processing service.

hmmm.... online calendar, online word processing, online email... all they're missing is a browser, data, and presentation stuff.

It would need to synch with my PDA for me to use it.

The only way this will ever break the hold that Microsoft has with its Office suite is if they make a stand-alone e-mail/calendar client that can connect to both an internal Google Mail server AND a Microsoft Exchange server. Without that sort of cross-platform compatibility, I can promise you that large corporations won't be giving up what they've invested in Exchange/Outlook.

Agreed. It has promise though. I didn't realize at first that a large part of the design was to make it so that you could share calendars with friends which is pretty darned cool.

But yeah, needs a client that will synch with the PDA. Might just be a matter of time. Maybe someone can make a Google Desktop Plugin to do it or something.

Well, aside from the PRC where they still have to (forgive the expression) toe the party line.

Article with review of calendar (short) and discussion about the possibility of an office suite.

I like the calendar but unless they come up with a way to sync it with a pda it's useless to me. I have been thinking of having a calendar always up on my laptop for radii and Anthony to enter info into, but I want something with a "notes" section so I still think Outlook is good for me. If they develop this further I'd love to switch over to it though...
