View Full Version : Looking for advice - small game distribution

I've got a small group of developers together making some small and simple (but hopefully adictive) games. The goal of this project is to hopefully sell some copies of the games and convince ourselves that it might be worthwhile to take on some larger projects...possibly even on a full-time basis.

My question is...does anyone have any suggestions for making the games available to people and trying to get the word out? In our first few attempts, we aren't planning on selling thousands of copies (probably more like tens), so we aren't looking to throw too much money at the idea. Any thoughts on an economical way to get this project rolling?

download only?

At this point, yes. I could be wrong, but I expect this to start out quite slowly and not be worth the effort to make CDs.

I'd suggest evaluating the various digi-download options (e-licence and softwrap are reasonable starting points).

If you're ambitious and planning on doing cross platform stuff then there are a few Mac equivalents available also, if you're even more ambitious then I'd suggest looking into the Xbox-Live arcade development options available (Microsoft have 'loaner' development kits for small developers, but expect to jump through a few hoops to get one).

Hope this helps,
