It's been a long month but life is starting to resemble normal. I am now living in Santa Fe, NM.

Troubles along the way:

Early July, called the cable company to have service terminated at the end of the month. The next day, had no service. Phone calls resulted in no satisfaction.

During the move, I drove the U-Haul truck off the road through three lines of barbed wire, over two gullies, and to a hard stop in a dirt hill about 3 first downs off the road. Every possesion that COULD be broken WAS broken, including tv, glassware, pc, etc.

When we got to Santa Fe we were told we would not be able to move into our apartment for 8 days because of something stupid some maintenance guy had done.

I am now using a little compaq notebook I picked up, in my apartment, which is filled with boxes of broken things.

Life remains beautiful.

You could have died or been seriously injured in that accident. Things can be replaced

And you're no longer in the People's Republic of Madison!

True dat. I thought for sure when it was happening that the truck was going to do a somersault. My fiancee was pretty upset until she realized it meant more shopping.

Welcome back! Glad you made it to NM in one piece even if your stuff didn't...

Glad to hear you're okay. Hopefully your insurance will cover most of it.

hahahaha

Don't you know that the extra insurance is a ripoff????

er um

No, we didn't, but we're hoping since the brakes failed, and they told us to drive on despite the 'check engine' light being on most of the way, and the right side mirror falling off, that there will be some reimbursement... although, quite frankly, I could care less. It would be nice to get some money out of them, but I'm very happy to be here regardless. We were welcomed by a coyote at the city limits.

Wow, sounds like a horrible trip (& month). Glad you & your fiancee are OK, though.

I bet you had some mad "I can't believe we're still alive" sex after that, eh?

It was a horrible, horrible month. My opening post only touches on some of the ways Murphy's Law has visited. The view from my balcony makes it worthwhile, though. I have never been happier or more optimistic about my future.
