...on business and I get a call from my wife during lunch. She starts with, "you'll never guess what happened" - my thoughts immediately turn to the worst and I begin to think something bad happened to the kids. She explains that it's not bad news, but that she got a call from a young woman asking if I lived there. My wife says yes, and the girl says, "hold on, I'm at work and I need to find an empty room." Now, I know I don't have any crap in my life to hide so I'm beginning to wonder - "well, that's weird" and I'm wondering where the heck this conversation is going. The girl gets back on the phone and said they just announced my name on a local radio station and that I have 9 minutes to call the station to win $1000. The girl then hangs up without giving us the phone number. My wife frantically gets online and finds the station's phone number. She calls, and they give her the number of the DJ and she calls him. After ringing for a LONG time the DJ picks up and my wife says "you mentioned my husband's name on the radio", but that I'm out of town and she's calling on my behalf - you can see our name on the caller ID. The DJ says according to the rules, he can't give us the money because I'M the one who has to make the phone call. She calls me...but by that time the 9 minutes expires.

So...because of this business trip, I'm out $1000. :( Wonder if I can put that on my expenses? :p

Yeah, this really stinks. I usually work out of the home, so there would have been no way I would have missed calling. Oh well...

At least it wasn't your mistress calling your wife...

I've seen my wife emasculate horses... no woman on the planet is worth screwing around with after that.

Just go to the Peabody for drinks to drown your sorrows, and then cross the street for some good ribs at the Rendevous.

Mmm...the Rendezvous. Some damn quality BBQ there.

Too bad they didn't let you win. Otherwise you could have been...

(wait for it...)

"walking in Memphis, with your feet 10 feet off of the ground"

Feel free to pummel me at this point.

Completely OT, I was supposed to propose to my wife after dinner at the Rendevous, but she wanted to go to Huey's instead. Not feeling right about proposing after going to Huey's (we both love the place, its just more of a bar than a restaurant..), I had to get a carriage ride and do it on that...

We went to Huey's yesterday - did you have a chance to shoot a toothpick in the ceiling? BTW, at Huey's is where I got the call that I lost the $1K. :(

I went to Huey's yesterday too. Is that three for three?

Are you going down to Tunica any to play live poker?

A couple of guys went to Tunica on Monday, but I decided to stay at the hotel because my streak at casinos is unfortunately long and losing. I figured I saved $1K by not going and then lost it (see above). It's been an odd trip.

Well there's a very nice strip club out by the Marriott off 240 (thousand oaks?) that might cheer you up. They're a bit 'physical' there if you know what i mean.
