So begins the saga of my hattrick dynasty.

I'm stuck in the hellish v.56, but I got a few tricks up my sleeve this year.

The competition:


Suffering Bastards were the relegation team for IV. They seem to be fair competition but nothing like the dominant Riddle (now departed to bigger better things).

This is the year though, where I think I got a chance.

My strikers (what I train) are going to feel the void by previous striker Branko Manenica (now with the Isla Vista Vandals).

Still I'm not jumping ship, Waylon Moore (potential U-20?) and Tudor Lazar make for a fierce tandem and now will be assisted by Brazilian Gerson Baptista.

The Slovenian Hajdu will help train seat warmers (and youth pulls) Travis John and Trent Rodriguez.

Still I think it's a strong group that can still dominate in my division...they just need the rest of the team to control the pitch.

It's simple, control the pitch, you have the best opportunity to control the game. I plan on going full offensive this year...with at least one midfielder set as an offensive defender to see if the boost is massive or minimal. If it isn't that much of a difference, then we play survivor and one gets transfered off.

Sever is my new acquisition, he'll be the general of the midfield. Dragan will actually be my winger to middle. Gauntlett has done well as an attacking midfielder. Don't knock Olle Larsson, got him cheap, his form is low because his prior team didn't play friendlies, and he was only an injury replacement player. His form finally made it to poor, so I predict big things when he gets to passable. Boone looks to be the offensive defender, should that not work, Gauntlett looks to be odd man out.

I like this group, Sever should be one of the two missing pieces.

Not a bad group for most of Division V, but in my series, kind of weak. The biggest change, and puzzle piece number two is Fabio Sanchez which should shore up my goal. Cambra is a capable backup. Both have a nice little bonus with experience.

As for my defenders, should the offensive defender plan fail, I have at least three capable defenders (tried to do the whole counterattack strategy). Quiroz can at least have some skill at wingback, Zegers and Zola are good for central defenders.

It's not a strong group, but I'm hoping Fabio can help.

Tharp doesn't do much but can play wing if the need for it arises. Ganan is a future coach. Cabras takes the backup midfield role, just never thought about selling him.

Don't want to harp on it, but this is the calm before the storm. Since I've whittled the team down to almost no B-team. It'll be all A-team for this Cup match.

I plan to replace him with Ganan, but upon doing a price check, I would wind back into the negative PLUS I would have no funds for a youth squad. Since Amici is still a solid trainer, that is the crucial point right now.

I'm PICing my cup, that will help harmony for a bit...should I gather funds from the last player I'm selling (excellent PM/passable wing) I may chance it.

I know a new coach will help with team spirit and thus help in my strategy, but this year, I needed a keeper and I needed a stronger midfield...2 pieces down...Ganan could possbile get more experience, which would lower the price more (I would still only go for solid).

I have very little left to sell, I would have to sell either Moore or Lazar, and while that would be a great financial boost, I think it would kill my attack which I think is the only thing that makes me something of a contender in my division.

Welll... I grabbed my youth squad players...17 and costly.

I'm kinda ticked off...I was eyeing two very worthwhile prospects...one of which I heavily overpaid for. So I spy this Spanish striker and this Chilean striker, both reasonably priced, and close to deadline. I set two bids, scan the boards for anything better, then dig in.

So I notice that I am bidding on both players against the same team. Well the Spaniard is going incredibly high, so I leave the high bid to the other team, email him that the guy is all his, and wait for the time to expire for the Chilean. Then I notice this guy is still bidding on the Chilean. So I think to myself:

1. Does he want both?
2. Is he uping the price of the Chilean to screw with me?

I figure it is more #2 than #1. So probably 2 to 3 seconds before time expires on the Spaniard, I hit the bid button. Naturally the war starts again (for both players).

I manage to get the Spaniard, and another team manages to get the Chilean, and my opponent, he gets nothing. Still I'm not entirely sure I'm a winner in this, but I have my prospects.

Due to an all-day shower, 25846 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Ultra Nox Arena. Ultra had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. The following players had been chosen: Cambra - Boone, Zegers, Quiróz - Gauntlett, Larsson, Sever, Pesikan - Lazãr, Moore, Baptista.

Soccer tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Moorits - Penati, Oksanen, Wahl - Stoleru, Niedermeyer, Konicki, Thomason, Rich - Alonso, Fridander.

Soccer saw most attack opportunites on the wings and were directing their passes that way. Ultra took the lead in the 11th minute of the game by 1 to 0, as Tudor Lazãr elegantly received a pass going deep, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. Soccer levelled the score in the 25:th minute at 1 - 1, as Pedro Niedermeyer struck home after a fine midfield combination, leaving him completely unmarked. Ultra took the lead in the 26:th minute of the game by 2 to 1, as Tyrell Gauntlett elegantly received a pass going deep, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Ultra´s Dragan Pesikan got himself booked. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Waylon Moore squirmed himself through the central defense line in the 34:th minute, asserting the lead to 3 - 1. In the games 35:th minute Soccer replied, reducing the lead to 3 - 2. Dariusz Konicki scored on a marvellous cross pass coming in from the left. The teams went for a half-time break at 3 - 2. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Ultra, with an impressive 59 percent possession of the ball.

In the 51st minute of the match the visitors central line of defence had to look on as Alan Sever dashed through, knocking home 4 - 2 for Ultra. A bit later, a magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Ultra´s Tyrell Gauntlett putting the lead up to 5 - 2. Juan Carlos Zegers seemed to be floating in the air at will as he elegantly headed in 6-2. The previous Ultra corner kick was executed by Tyrell Gauntlett. Waylon Moore almost managed to score another goal for Ultra, but his header was tipped to a corner by the visitors goalie. Ultra put their lead ahead another goal as Tudor Lazãr struck home the 7 - 2 goal, after an attack from the left setting him up unmarked with the keeper. Ultra held the ball, with a clear 60 percent possession rate.

Ultra´s best player was Tudor Lazãr. Pascal Boone was a disappointment, however. Most important Soccer player was Pedro Niedermeyer. Edison Wahl on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 7 - 2.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman channeling Lester Bangs in Almost Famous...

I've decided to add a little insight into quotes and the movies that they go with...Almost Famous is a really good flick, one that is good enough for you to watch on a date, but not be bored as a guy. I have the Official Bootleg edition so the movie is longer, but that's okay, there are some beautiful young women on this film: Kate Hudson, Zooey Deschanel, Bijou Phillips, Anna Paquin (mmm Australian), and even the mysterious Fairuza Balk. The Official Bootleg version is longer (even has an appereance by stoned out Kyle Gass of Tenacious D)...it's a heartwarming story, about love, redemption, and yes, rock and roll.

4Q's out of 5Q.

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 36217 at Mr. Bungle Memorial Stadium today. Superstars had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Melia - Reker, Price, Doty - Phipps, Fowler, Elias, Numbers, Miller - Kakame, Chen.

Ultra tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. Lineup: Cambra - Quiróz, Zegers, Sivit Gañán - Larsson, Gauntlett, Boone, Sever - Lazãr, Baptista, Moore.

Ultra mostly ignored the flanks in favour of attacks in the middle. Superstars took the lead in the 2nd minute of the game by 1 to 0, as Greg Chen elegantly received a pass going deep, finishing off with a half-volley shot just below the bar. In the games 5:th minute Ultra´s Waylon Moore fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Waylon Moore for taking a dive. With 29 minutes played Kamangeni Kakame could have brought this one home for Superstars, had his hooked ball gone in, but it went just a bit too high. Lucio Melia became the hero of the day with the home crowd as he saved a penalty in the 36:th minute. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Greg Chen squirmed himself through the central defense line in the 40:th minute, asserting the lead to 2 - 0. The structure of the game started to change as Superstars decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. The teams went for a half-time break at 2 - 0. Superstars held the ball, with a clear 63 percent possession rate.

With 65 minutes played Kamangeni Kakame could have brought this one home for Superstars, had his hooked ball gone in, but it went just a bit too high. The referee showed Ultras Alan Sever the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Superstars were forced to a substitution as Denny Reker couldn´t continue playing due to the rough treatment, forcing Ethan Buchanan to come in from the sidelines. In the 75:th minute of the match the visitors central line of defence had to look on as Ethan Buchanan dashed through, knocking home 3 - 0 for Superstars. Superstars put their lead ahead another goal as Greg Chen struck home the 4 - 0 goal, after an attack from the left setting him up unmarked with the keeper. This third goal made a hat trick for Greg Chen. Steve Miller increased Superstarss lead to 5 - 0 by putting a header away on a hooked ball from the right. Superstars held the ball, with a clear 61 percent possession rate.

The most dominating Superstars player was without a doubt Dick Fowler. Ethan Buchanan was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Ultra player was without a doubt Tudor Lazãr. However, Ismael Sivit Gañán made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 5 - 0.

Catahoula's started off with a 3-4-3 lineup. They fielded: Crowe - Osorio, Piper, Cheng - Saucedo, Lozano Miralles, Stiger, Mead - Wilson, Ruth, Palacios.

Ultra seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. Tudor Lazãr gave his Ultra the lead with 1 - 0, as he successfully challenged both the guests central defenders, then placed the ball unreachably at the goaltenders right post. Tudor Lazãr almost managed to score another goal for Ultra, but his header was tipped to a corner by the visitors goalie. A header from Pascal Boone connected with a corner kick after 24 minutes, and the ball ended up with Tudor Lazãr of Ultra who shot the 2-0 goal. The bicycle kick from Ashley Ruth would have been the Goal of the Year, had it not hit the posts. Waylon Moore increased Ultras lead to 3 - 0 by putting a header away on a hooked ball from the right. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Tyrell Gauntlett squirmed himself through the central defense line in the 29:th minute, asserting the lead to 4 - 0. By now Ultra were drawing the troops back in order to defend their lead. 4 - 0 was the half-time score. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Ultra, with an impressive 65 percent possession of the ball.

Tudor Lazãr almost managed to score another goal for Ultra, but his header was tipped to a corner by the visitors goalie. In the games 64:th minute Catahoula's replied, reducing the lead to 4 - 1. Ashley Ruth scored on a marvellous cross pass coming in from the left. Ultra held the ball, with a clear 65 percent possession rate.

The most dominating Ultra player was without a doubt Tudor Lazãr. Pascal Boone on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Catahoula's player was Patrik Stiger. Rod Mead on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 4 - 1.

I love this movie for it's sheer unintentional comedy...this is the type of movie Mystery Science Theatre 3000 should've branched out too...it's filled with cliches, terrible dialogue, and very very wooden actors playing paper cutout characters, but hey, it's an 80's ACTION movie...some memorable moments in this flick, such as how Chuck Norris reacts to the death of his dog stronger than his new girlfriend's gunshot wound, or buried alive in his beast truck, Chuck manages to drive, DRIVE, out of the dirt, after pouring generic beer over himself to cool off...and thousands more unintentional comedic moments...the bad guy is future Kill Bill villain, David Carradine.

2Qs out of 5 (for comedy, dont BUY or RENT it, wait for it to show on tv).

warriors had chosen a strategic 4-3-3 formation. They fielded: Wallace - Hébert, Montes, Andrews, Barron - Owens, Joseph, Rebull - Stone, Petrescu, Pérez.

Ultra seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. warriors clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could, using their talent for it. Ultra were very close to putting themselves one up in the 32nd minute as Donny Palacios got through, but failing in concentration, he shot the ball wide. In the games 35:th minute warriors´s Benjamin Andrews fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Benjamin Andrews for taking a dive. Ismael Sivit Gañán gave his Ultra the lead with 1 - 0, as he successfully challenged both the guests central defenders, then placed the ball unreachably at the goaltenders right post. Hannes Festenberg almost managed to score another goal for Ultra, but his header was tipped to a corner by the visitors goalie. warriors appeared unsure on how to play and their organisation was only solid. Halftime score was 1 - 0. Ultra held the ball, with a clear 83 percent possession rate.

During the break warriors´s coach went through the teams new tactics yet again, getting them up to solid organisation. Tyrell Gauntlett almost managed to score another goal for Ultra, but his header was tipped to a corner by the visitors goalie. In the 50:th minute of the match the visitors central line of defence had to look on as Tyrell Gauntlett dashed through, knocking home 2 - 0 for Ultra. A speedy charge from the left side of the field put Ultra lead up with 3 - 0. Donny Palacios finished that one off competently, firing from an acute angle. After this Ultra lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. Hannes Festenberg should probably have put his team up another goal in the 69:th minute, but some great goaltending by Craig Wallace kept the visitors in the game. Donny Palacios of Ultra received a yellow card in the 77:th minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. In the game's 78:th minute Ultra´s Ismael Sivit Gañán limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. warriors had difficulty finding their positions and their organisation was down to passable. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Ultra, with an impressive 88 percent possession of the ball.

Ultra´s best player was Alan Sever. Ismael Sivit Gañán was a disappointment, however. Most important warriors player was Craig Wallace. Louis-Simon Hébert on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 3 - 0.

Robert Altman's MASH was made during Vietnam. Unlike other releases on the war at that time, like Patton, which was being made at the same time. MASH is a movie about the war with comedy, showing the brutality of it, not with comedy to lighten it, but to help it cut deeper.

Donald Sutherland takes on the part of Hawkeye Pierce. Tom Skeritt as Duke Forrest, the Southerner and later on, Trapper John comes to scene (Elliot Gould). They all play their parts admirably.

There is no real plot to MASH, more like a collection of stories in the same setting (of course some scenes /do/ take place off the MASH unit, but it's more about the war). The colors are vibrant, the characters are real, no cutups here...and there are a lot of characters, and a lot of conversations. One thing that Altman does is layer the conversations, so while you may center in on two characters talking, you can and will hear other conversations, which makes the setting more alive.

The comedy is memorable (like the football game), but the war is never taken lightly or mocked, so much as the absurdity of some of the things that go on in war.

When the movie ends you wish it would go on longer, you really connect with these characters as people (at least I did).
