As some of you know, I recently bought a new computer. (yeah, yeah) :)
One of the big reasons that I bought a Dell was because the price was too good to pass up. I got a P4 2.8 mhz with a gig of RAM and a flat panel monitor, upgraded in a number of ways, for $1000, with a $200 "mail in rebate".
I have to admit I am skeptical when it comes to manufacturers rebates, but I decided to give it a go. Because the rebate was so large, I was going to see this one through to it's conclusion.

So, to prepare for battle, I dug trenches, hung out barbed wire, sighted artillery and machine guns, and sent my rebate forms in. I was plesently surprised early this month when I got an email confirmation that they were processing my rebate. "How are they going to deny this now?" I thought. Fools.

Well, you could have knocked me over with a feather tonight when I got an email telling me that my rebate was in the mail and on it's way! I was expecting AT LEAST to have to wait 8-12 weeks for the check, but 3 1/2 weeks is excellent!

Maybe I'm cheap, but I'm already happy with my system, so Dell may have just made a customer for life.

Well, at least they will if the check is for the full amount! :D

I bought a lot of their servers at work. They were pretty high quality(on par with other big names), with a price to match it. However all you had to say was "I am going to buy an x86 Sun server", or "I'm going to buy a AMD server from HP", and bam, 50% off every time, and a couple free switches and monitors thrown in on top :).

nice that you had a good experience.

I still firmly believe that rebates are Satan's spawn.

Well, that doesn't seem fair. I ordered my computer last October and haven't recieved anything from them yet. Should I call or just be patient? I'm supposed to get a 150 dollar rebate, but that money would be well appreciated right about now.

Funny...we do the same thing with our HP rep...every once and a while we make sure and forward him the offers we get from Dell and he seems to call us right away asking if there is anything we need and that we could discuss it over lunch or golf (depending on the season of course)...works really well for us.

You should be able to look it up online.
They are sticklers for everything being filled out correctly, so maybe there was a problem with the forms?

I bought my computer from Dell a couple months ago. Since I already ranted about it in the "OT: New Computer Advice" thread, I'm just gonna say that I'm never gonna buy from Dell again.
