Wow....with this service being added on the PS3 on top of Hulu Plus, Netflix and PlayOn, the PS3 is becoming another great entertainment option.

Last week, Vudu has been added to the PS3 and it provides a slew of high quality HD movies. And what's cool is that if you download it, you get a movie for free. The interface is, by far, the best out of all the services. They not only provide you easy navigation, but it also allows you to filter by release, Tomato Meter, genre, Rating, studio, video quality and rent/own. Plus you can view cast/crew, view the wikipedia page and add to the wishlist.

But what really has me excited about this is their HDX movies. The quality of this format supposedly surpasses any other streaming format and is actually close to what you would see if you owned the disc.

So tonight we will try out our free movie and see if the HDX is all that. If you own a PS3, at least get that free movie.

Really looking forward to this if/when it comes to Canada. This and Hulu.

I was thinking that I'd love to have a PS3 in nearly every room. It does so much for only $300.

Well, family voted me out on watching Predators, so I had to settle for Nanny McPhee. Watched it in that HDX and I must say I was very impressed with the quality, crispness and the fact that there were no skips, jumps, or color discoloration. Will definitely use this over Amazon on the Roku when I want to do the occasional rental that does not exist on Netflix yet. And we also discovered a couple of neat features. One is that you to skip ahead to chapters and you would with a Blu-Ray. And the other is that when viewing cast and crew, it lists the other films they were in that Vudu has in their library. So you can say I had a positive experience with the free movie.

Well, looks like I need to stop being so close minded and start fully utilizing my PS3. All I use it for is gaming. I feel like an old man, "Eh PS3 is to play video games, all that other stuff is a bunch of nonsense." Looks like I'll be spending my Sunday trying to figure out how to capitalize on these other services available and maximizing my PS3 use.

I used this for the first time last night, got a movie in HDX for my free credit. Very, very impressed with the quality.

Can the movies be downloaded if my internet connection isn't fast enough to keep up with streaming HD?

There's a meter you can use to test, and it recommends which quality you watch it in.
