Just read that Chad Ochocinco and Motorola bought 1200 tickets to ensure the blackout would be lifted. Anybody in Cincy can go to the stadium tomorrow morning and get two free tickets until they run out. Great PR move by Chad.

I really wish Mike Brown would have stepped up first. He could have gotten a decent amount of goodwill out of guaranteeing their would be no blackouts, but it's always about good short term decisions for Mike Brown.

So Cincy has a surprising team, is at 4-1, and the game isn't selling out?

edit: Really nice move by Ochocinco though.

Between a really poor economy in southern Ohio and a general hatred of putting money in Mike Brown's pocket I'd expect more blackout problems as the season goes on regardless of record.

Did the Bengals raise ticket prices this year? I can't speak for other teams, but I know the Bears kept ticket prices static from last year.

Browns Steelers is barely a rivalry like it should be. It is like playing your 10 year old in one on one. If you lose it's bad. If you win, you beat a 10 year old.

Should (I hope) be an interesting game in Seattle this weekend as the Seahawks take on the Cards. With the Niners on their bye, a Cards win would tie them for the division lead while a Seattle win would move them within half a game as they head into their bye.

The Seahawks are heading into this one trying to build on the momentum of getting Hasselbeck back last week and the knowledge that they should be getting 4 key starters back after the bye (Locklear, Sims, Hill, Trufant).

They also get a couple players back this week (Griffith and Kerney) with (I believe) the true keys being whether the Seattle front 4 can pressure Warner without requiring a lot of blitzing help and if the MASH unit that is the Seattle offensive line can buy Hasselbeck enough time to find one of the many aerial offensive weapons in his arsenal. Seattle's secondary doesn't match up well with Fitz and Boldin, so definitely key to give them as little time as possible before Warner has to make a (hopefully pressured) throw.

I'm hoping the home field advantage gives Seattle the edge as I'm really hoping they can stay relatively healthy the rest of the way and put an extended run together.

The Lions head to Green Bay this week, where they haven't won in some 19 years or so. They wont win on Sunday. They haven't played particularly well on the road so far this year, getting blown out by both New Orleans and Chicago. To make matters worse, it's likely that neither Calvin Johnson nor Matthew Stafford will be play. So, not only will the Lions lose badly, but they will be really boring while doing it.

I'm hoping not. :) But I worry about my beloved Cards secondary as they lead the league in passing yards given up. And after seeing how the 'Hawks put up 40+ points last week, I will be holding my breath the whole game probably.

Cinci needs to get the monkey off their back and win one comfortably. They should be able to focus mostly on the pass with the way the Texans run game has looked, and Palmer needs to continue making progress toward being the QB he used to be. He's been a game manager with poise, but if the run game falters, he needs to be able to step up. There'll be games where it takes more than 20 points to win. If they win by 10 or more, I'll finally feel like this team has some serious potential.

Why are the Titans so bad this year? I'm kinda of disappointed that the Colts seem to be running away with the division. I want them to win, but some competition would be nice.

I saw a few people picking the Chiefs this week against the Skins. It is terrible. I didn't think Zorn would get fired in the middle of the season, but they seem to get worse every week. The Skins signing one of the big name coaches that are available is too good to be true. Snyder will go sign the Browns Special Teams coach instead.

Err... Go Saints!

This is not surprising. Even with Stafford and Calvin Johnson playing they were going to lose. Without them, it was going to be ugly. You also have the fact that three of the Lions 4 starting defensive linemen aren't playing. So, you have the second string defensive linemen of the worst d-line in the league playing.

Again, even if the Lions were totally healthy this game wouldn't be close, with all the injuries this is almost like yesterday's UofM/DSU game.

Pumpy Tudors
10-18-2009, 01:10 PM
From the little bit I've seen of Tampa's QB Josh Johnson, he seems to be fairly decent for an inexperienced guy. He's just so quick to run out of the pocket, even when the line is giving him time. He's almost forcing his linemen to take holding penalties because they don't know which direction he's headed. Maybe part of the reason Tampa is so bad is because these guys just aren't on the same page as a team. Kinda sad to watch.

Abe Sargent

I know. I kinda wonder if McNair's death had anything to do with it, even though he's not been with the team for a while, he still lived in TN and had a ton of connections with the team.

For example, wasn;t it earlier this week that Jeff Fisher did not punish Jevon Kearse for some team infraction? Kearse was a player who played with McNair.

I am not shocked at all because Culpepper is garbage. Yes the OL is bad but he is not picking up any blitzes and calling audibles, and I mean, he threw an INT on a screen pass to a DL occupied by a blocker. That's so bad.

They showed the replay several times from various angles. I didn't see him push off. What I saw was the defender looked back to his right for the ball at the same time that the receiver slowed down. Causing both of their feet to tangle up with the pass coming in.

Normally that is not a pass interference call.

I agree. I thought Culpepper was by far the worst of the quarterbacks who played for the Lions last year. Kitna and Orlvosky were both better.

He pushed one of his hands to Colston's back, can't remember if it was the right or the left. At that time he didn't have an idea on the ball and the trip up happened right after he pushed/marked him up with his hand to the back.

In other news, Brees is sick today.

His hands were touching him, which is legal. He didn't push there though. You didn't see the receiver fall at all until the feet tangled up. In fact the receiver pulled up slightly which is the exact opposite of what you would expect if it was a push off.

And yes, Brees is indeed sick today. The Saints are making the Giants defense look like the Cardinals.

Yeah, I don't get this either. I think that would go down as the worst call of the season unless there's a good explanation. I mean, that's not even a judgment call. The ball was clearly short of the marker by a few inches. How can they possibly explain that one away?

I'm not a fan of either team, but it came on RedZone and I was just really confused. Not sure if there was some reason for it since they went from game to game.

I love Jim Schwartz. He's the guy I wanted from the get and I think he'll be a great coach, but this is not his best game. These pitch plays are killing us that Linehan is running, especially because it's so obvious on 4th down it's coming.

Ward seemed to hold it for a little while, but bobbled it after he was out of bounds. They said he had to control it through the end of the play, which makes sense. I could see them giving it to him for holding/controlling until he was out of bounds, but it seems as if the rule requires more.

Really no explanation for the first down. Makes no sense.

My only thought on the Steelers call was the chain was on an angle and we then got it straight up and down it was right at the stick. I saw a very simliar call last night in one of the games, I think South Carolina-Alabama or GT-VT and they rolled the ball and then called 1st down.

Here's the part of that I don't understand, while we're talking about horrible officiating. In the scrum that follows, ref hats and flags are flying all over the place, at least 3 more thrown during the scrum. Yet not a word when the ref explains the play, just the 15 yards and ejected player for the initial hit. What happened from the scrum?

And yeah, Wesley (the guy that leveled the returner) will be much lighter in the paycheck and lucky if he's not suspended for a few games. He basically incited the riot after that by having his "what? me? what'd I do?" reaction.

Last week the Cowboys did it four times in one drive.

EDIT: This was last week obviously.

Not enough seasons of performing like he has the last few. However, he is certainly on track if he can maintain this level of production for a few more years.

delhomme with his 9th and 10th INT's on the season today, the last one returned for a touchdown to allow tampa to tie the game.

Delhomme is 8/16 for 61 yards, 1 TD/2 INT on the day... outstanding.

And yet they won-because their running game finally showed up. Imagine if it hadn't. Delhomme has to be gone after this year if not sooner-big mistake to resign him to a long-term contract this past offseason.

Need to try and defend my Giants somewhat. In 2007 they began the season by giving up 45 to the Cowboys, followed by 35 to the Packers, only to have their defense carry them to a Super Bowl victory. Obviously, that was as embarrassing as it gets, and I actually am worried that they may not be as good as I thought, but like I've said, they've been torched before and were able to regroup and figure things out.

Houston came back big against the Cards in the second half last week, so it still may turn out to be a good pickup. Brace was a BC-guy...and a local guy for us here (he's a Worcester-boy). Once he picks up the Pats complicated D I'm sure he'll be great.

Shit Worcester guy huh? I was born and raised in Worcester before going off to college(shhh it's a secret). So he can't all that bad.

What a pathetic performance for the Titans D when one of the top QB performances of the week was put up in only 2 quarters of play.

I don't even know WTF this means by the "new poster"

Oh yeah, I don't think he's doing bad. Pryor's just shown more than most thought and maybe leapfrogged him. Good situation.

Me too! :)

I think the Pats fans are already over this game and are just making general comments :).

Meriweather's looked good all year, and even shown some ball hawking explosiveness reminding me of Asante early on. Mayo has just be destroying people since his 1st game in the NFL.

That's good since I did like two weeks ago.

Buffalo sure played the Patriots better than them.. Or did Buffalo finally end up winning a game at some point?

Good other than her going to work in the Worcester city schools during the day and graduate school at night meaning I get a ton of extra kid duty :)

Has a team ever not came back out for the 2nd half? Maybe the Titans should think about it to stop the Pats from scoring.

Brady with 5 touchdown passes in the 2nd quarter. Hell, let's see him get 5 more in the 3rd. Why not?

DT WTF Burncoat is not a Catholic high school.:D ..........I went to St Peters and would have been shocked if a football player and of his size ever attended their. They had some pro babseball players (Ron Darling, Rich Gedman, Tanyon Sturts etc) but no FB players.

They have a million photos/newspaper clippings/etc of Ron Darling as a highschooler in the Millbury TGI Fridays I found.

Is Vince Young so damaged that he's not better than Kerry Collins right now? 1-10 with an INT after basically stinking the entire year, ouch... Collins and Delhomme competing for the "washed up veteran who should have retired a year ago" award.

I don't get why they don't play Young. Cut him or start him I'd think at this point.

You sure you're not a closet Arizona fan? :D I would have thought Hasselbeck would be a good pickup for you for this game at least. Houston came back big against the Cards in the second half last week, so it still may turn out to be a good pickup. Campbell has actually put up some decent fantasy numbers and going against KC, you would have thought more of the same for him. I picked him up when I lost both McNabb and Hasselbeck to injuries. I think you can safely drop him now. :D

Not at all -- I wouldn't have picked up Hasselbeck otherwise! I went with two guys facing weak pass defenses, thinking that if they had big games I might try to trade them, otherwise I'd just drop them. Still, both my teams look good for wins anyway: In the league with Campbell, I'm up 68-41 with Hightower, McCoy, Marshall, Gates, and Pats D for me, and McNabb, Forte, Boldin, Tony Gonzalez, and Akers for him. In the league with Hasselbeck, I'm up 88.4 to 56.4 with Hasselbeck, Hightower, Fitz, Bodden, and Rackers for me, and Ryan, Michael Turner, Vincent Jackson, Celek, Calvin Pace, and Gostkowski for him.

It's like the score from when a football factory schedules a cream puff Div 1AA team to come ot their place for a thumping. Only the Titans won;t walk away with a check for a few hundred thousand.

If Brady keeps throwing the ball, they're gonna get to 100.

If they go rush-heavy after that score, they might top out around 70.
