This game has been "beta-ish," but the wraps are slowly being pulled off.
MMA Tycoon :: The MMA Management Game - Free to play, online multiplayer Mixed Martial Arts game (www.mmatycoon.com/index.php?Ref=1225)
In a nutshell, it's a very solid and entertaining sim. For free, you are able to create and manage 4 fighters -- determining their physical attributes, initial skills, "intangibles," etc.
You can sign them on to fight alliances, join fight organizations [such as UFC, Pride, although the ones in the game are fictional], train them in gyms, buy supplements, etc.
There is a "VIP" level as well, where [for a very reasonable amount of $] you can manage as many as 10 fighters, or run your own business: Fight org, gym, clothing or nutrition company. This, to me, is the real fun. I run a fight org in St. Petersburg [Oprichnik FC] and it has been a blast.
The community is pretty active and the developer is extremely hands-on and unbelievably responsive to the community. The game is improving significantly on a weekly basis.
ONE NOTE OF CAUTION: If you run a company, there's lots to do. But, if you are just managing fighters, then weeks can go by when they're not fighting [obviously]. You can tweak their training and sparring schedule and get them on the right supplements, but that's about it. There's not much else to do.
Some of the young button-mashers over there can't stand the pace, but I figured this would be right up the alley of fellow text-simmers.

Is that weeks in game time or weeks in real life?

Actual real life weeks.
[Although the fighters age a year every 18 real-life weeks or something like that -- otherwise their age would never really become a factor.]

I think I will get a third and base him out of St. Petersburg

VIP status here is beneficial based upon what I was reading, whether or not you start a company.
For only $30 a year, well worth it...
I am going to do some research before I even think of starting a company, but I will be setting up shop in Vegas I think.

It's a lot to absorb at first -- I'm happy to offer any pointers.
Plus, reading the manual is really, really helpful. I know it goes without saying, but it's much more instructive than other text sims.
There's much less need for fishing around in the dark trying to figure out what different attributes REALLY do on the football field [*cough, cough*] er, excuse me, in the cage . . . .

Cool Muns...
Also, I think I will start up a clothing line, I don't have the time for the organization, I do have the time for a gym, but the lack of clothing lines in the St. Pete area have me really thinking on doing something there.
Just have to work on the designs..
Wow, there is so much to read up on. After your post Macro I was wtf is a clothing line. After reading some more I think this might be more fun than I thought.
That will be a nice bank roll for you right?
I just set up my guys training schedule. Anything else I need to be doing?

If you haven't yet, register for a fight with your fighters with the QFC (Quick Fights) just to start getting wins....also, if you are still with the default Gym, hit one of the Elite Gyms in your fighters area and sign up there.
As for the clothing company I hope it is a Bank Roll, I like the designs I have already done compared to the others...
Firebird Designs is now open and has 2 shirts and 2 shorts up and for sell, we will sponsor your fighter as well Muns.

I switched gyms earlier and went with CHOWPRAYER Dojo. I also bought some "maximum range" which is muscle bulk from "vodka fuel". It was cheap for only 50 bucks compared to everything else that was being sold. It looks like that helps with strength.
I like the designs. That black one is really sharp. I think those will def take off and make you some money. I agree some of the other ones look horrible.
Thanks for the sponsorship and the advice.
Ill head over and sign up for a fight now.
Dola, looks like we have a fight against each other which is kinda shitty.

A note about supplements: Beware the cheapest ones. I understand that there are different quality ratings which, obviously, the supplement company does not have to disclose.
Freakin' supplements out of Tokyo is a FOF guy.
For the record, FOF has an amazing concentration in St Pete:
Oprichnik FC [me] and Iron Curtain Promotions; Hard Rocking Designs; Dynasty and Black Knight Elite gyms; and the Dynasty Fight League are all real solid guys from the Dynasty Football League. Just a FYI.

It will be fun as i have never designed clothes in real life, but got some ideas. You have skills too, let's see if we both can end dominating the clothing scene :)
Btw guys, what do you think of this phrase in the new shirt? does it make any sense? I need to work more on integrating the fire, doesn't feel 100% natural yet so i'm not sure if to put it for sale.

Okay, given that I know jackshit about clothing design or graphics, take this FWIW but ...
I'd shrink the Sinners logo by about half & try something (transparency? some trick in layering? something?) to make it look less stuck onto the shirt. Like the integration of the flames issue you mentioned, my eyes lock onto to the logo as being even more tacked on instead of integrated. In real world terms, I'd want the logo to look more like it was embroidered subtly than an iron-on patch (which is kind of how it strikes me now).
Also, shrink the text by about 1/8th of an inch so that the text box it's in doesn't overlap the flames at the bottom of the text so much. Either that or extend the reach of the lower flame even higher than it is now and make the overlap of text & flames more complete. Right now, with the text just barely covering the upper wisp of flame it seems accidental rather than intentional.
I don't know if there's even an option for this but I like the basic design of the flames on gray/black shirt well enough that I'd almost like it without the text on the front & have the text be one or two horizontal lines across the back of the shirt in somewhat smaller font (i.e. put it where the name on the back of a football jersey goes).
And please know that every bit of that advice comes with the full understanding that what you've got right now is about 100x better than anything I could ever do myself.
Thanks for the comments JMG, i have redone it and uploaded again replacing the old one.

If you wear this clothing in the game is at as Douchey as the people who are wearing TapouT and Affliction clothing to real life events? Throwing the Affliction or TapouT Beanie on is just simply douche-icing on the cake :)
Douchey Like this Rudy look alike:

You got me! I thought I was being somewhat subtle, but I couldn't resist "the Punisher" nickname.
Is it too early for me to be putting guys into orgs? I know the site recomended doing Quick Fights first, but that might just be to build up a record to sell the fighter to an org.

Damn, that's pretty douchey all right.
Wow.
In this game, I think the "real" MMA fighters are allowed to wear MMA gear without any movement on the douche-ometer.
In fact, keeping their threads up to date in the game is one of the few ways to give them a bump in morale.

We get income off of our clothes and how well they sell, it's why I think coming up with solid, good looking designs are critical.
As for sponsorship, I just figured I would pick some of them and pay them decently over a 90 to 180 day contract.

@ owners of other businesses: To answer the question of how you make extra money, I believe the developer is coming up with a way that you can co-sponsor fight events and then come away with a percentage of the merchandise sales. There has been decent buzz about this, and I believe it's "on the list" of things that Mike would like to work on.
The nice thing is that Mike actually seems to get to these items on his list on a pretty regular basis.

On an almost completely random note, I wonder if there'd be a market for gear based around something like these?
Hazmat Placards, Hazardous Materials Warning Placards and Placard Holders (http://www.mysafetysign.com/safe/HazMat-Signs.asp)
http://www.mysafetysign.com/Safety-Signs/Hot-Warning-Signs-Labels.aspx
I'm picturing either the actual signage wording/symbols being used or alternate phrases/images done in the warning sign style
Something cheezy like "In case of fire: STOP, DROP, TAP"
Might get over, might suck, I dunno.

I'm using PS with some pluggins/filters and random images i'm finding in google, then i cut parts, apply textures, replace colors, create fading effects and then fit them into the templates, adding some text to some of them.

What happens if I hire a fighter instead of creating one?
And can I simply fire a fighter, or retire him?

For what i have been seeing, free agent fighters for hire are those who have been fired by his old manager, and if they were fired... ti was probably for a good reason, so i think it's a better idea to create your own fighters so you ca give them the attributes you want.

yeah, that's what I figured so I created Jonny "Hammerhead" Kordic, illegitimate son of late John Kordic, from the time he played with the Nordiques. ;)
He's training out of Montreal.

Can we own more than one company? i have the link to start a new one but not sure if it will work as i already own the clothes one.
In case i can, i might go for a supplements one, as i don't want to compete in LA with CW with a gym.
Dola, nope, it doesn't work, you can only own one.
Btw guys, have we formed an alliance? it's basically a "clan" and we can compete worldwide together to become the top Alliance.
We should form the FOFC one if we haven't.

There was some discussion on their boards about young players cutting their fighters really quickly, so there are some good FAs out there.
As far as cutting fighters, I believe you can cut one every 30 days, or every 15 days if you're VIP.

thanks for the info re: cutting fighters. I tried my luck on a couple of interesting free agents, but the thing is that you tick the "hire" check box, then when the time's up, the guy will go to whoever wants him that has the highest hype. Since I'm really, really new, nobody wants to come fight for me, understandably so I must say. :)

Sponsoring fighters raises the hype of companies (which gives them more sales from the "virtual buyers," right? So, how does it help the fighters? Are they paid? Or is it just assumed that they'll get free merch from the company?
(edit) Apparently, the sponsoring company sends a contract for an amount of $$ & time.

Elequemedo Uris is my manager and Wanadi Noronha (7542) (http://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilemanager.php?FID=7542) is the losing fighter in question.
Noronha goes for a cartwheel guard pass here but Kelso does a handstand and catches Noronha in mid air with a triangle! Could it be? It is! It's the triple decker pecker wrecker! The fighters land on the ground with Kelso on top - Noronha is already out from the submission! Kelso gives Noronha's pecker the obligatory post submission twist and this one is aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall over! Are you kidding me! That is world class Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. That guy is my hero!

Btw, Doug brought the idea of cross-promoting all the various FOFC operations, and I think I have a thought on an easy way to pimp each other's businesses in a roleplaying/PR sorta way.
All organizations have a little press release thing going on. In that, I'm thinking we just add a little tagline to whatever we feel like writing at the time in there, something along these lines.
So and So Org - Subsidiary of FOFC Enterprises
So and So Gym (ID#), Los Angeles

Imperial Combat Club is within a few hundred bucks of being profitable, post hiring a rather pricey new trainer.

But, have at them, there are 15 of each style up in our store.

Dola,
Let me know if Imperial wants anything specific for them...
Bob, I also know Rock Hard has the exclusive with OPFC, let me know if you want the shirt taken down, I have no problem with that.
Just did not realize it was exclusive until to late.

If someone's got a free fighter slot, you could be the Imperial Combat Club's 100th fighter!

He gets a ham!
After playing with Photoshop templates, i managed to create a tight short one while also learning new techniques that will apply for a few incoming tshirts and shorts.
Here is a new tight shorts collection just added to our shop:

When you have your fighters set to part-time intensity for training, what day exactly does the extra $200 they get from working part time come in?

I have to say I am liking this aspect of the game. I have almost broke even with my start up loan and I will generate revenue. I logged on tonight to find most of my styles sold out and then a flattering couples of pm's where guys want to order my designs in real life...LOL
The designing of the clothes has been a blast...

Sorry for the delayed response.
Been really sick this weekend. I love the shirt -- we haven't talked too much about exclusivity. This aspect of the game isn't really too well fleshed out yet, so I won't worry about it.
There was talk early on about events being brought to you by sponsors and then the sponsor getting a cut of the merchandise sales -- while there was popular support for it, I'm not sure how close it is to becoming a reality.

Well, so far I am 6-8-2 and half my wins are with one fighter.
He is going to get his title shot with Beach Fights Internation in the LHW division
As far as the clothing company is concerned sales have flattened a bit, I don't know if it's due to lack of growth or a flooded market. I have more than enough capital to keep me afloat with it but I see where it's going to take exclusive deals and such with Fight Orgs to get out of the hole.
Anyways, how is everyone else doing?

if you guys are familiar with Dong Energy and Dong Gate over at Goal Line Blitz...I basically rated out Dong Energy to Mike and they had hacked his account...which in turn allowed them to find the person who ratted them out and got into my account and posted an exploit on the forum under my name and then in the chat.
The mods banned me, Mike locked my account and verified with me I didn't do it.
I am now back in, and Dong Energy is now blacklisted, banned and all that jazz..

Mike's a reasonable guy, though & will listen to rational arguments. Glad you're back in.

I guess from talking with Mike they got into the game good...just like they did with GLB. Mike is actually willing to pay someone to beef up the security of the game.

Well...still enjoying the game...I am profitable on the store front as I have also spun off designing fight posters as well.
I know one of us created the Greasemonkey script for this game, it stopped working was wondering if they are still playing and can fix it?
