You guys are music junkies and seem to love the music questions. So.....what do you think is the most beautiful song? Classical music counts if you would like. Have a person who you think has the most beautiful voice?

I second this, it was what immediately popped in my head when I read the title of the thread.
I also love "Baby Mine", the song from Dumbo. The entire song is beautiful, the words, the music, it's perfect. Allison Krause did a version of it a few years ago, and it's amazing. As soon as I hear the song start, I grab a Kleenex because I know I'm going to cry.

Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah deserves to be in the conversation. It's been redone a lot of different ways, but even with a weak or offbeat rendition, it's really tough to take the heart out of the song -- which I consider a testament to it.

I wish I knew more classical works so I could answer this more intelligently.
Some songs I find beautiful off the top of my head:
"Wrapped Around Your Finger" - The Police. Beautiful melody, not so beautiful lyrics.
"Tea In The Sahara" - The Police. Same as above.
"Fortress Around Your Heart" - Sting. Slightly more positive lyrics than the above pair.
"The Secret Marriage" - Sting. Not a popular wedding choice, unfortunately.
"Fields of Gold" - Sting
"Till The End of Time" - Mariah Carey
"Almost Hear You Sigh" - Rolling Stones

I posted earlier in this thread and mentioned I might come back with a longer list. Well, I made a pretty big list but thought I would trim it down and use some slightly to very well known pieces and include 30 seconds or so of each piece so people can actually hear it and not just say "uh, oh yeah, that one."
Note that this is music I personally find beautiful and that is fairly accesible to most people. It is in no particular order nor is it what I necessarily think are the top x most beautiful songs in history or something. Just a little sampling. I have included 30 seconds or so of a sample of each piece.
Nella Fantasia, performed by Chloe Agnew (http://pwatts14.googlepages.com/NellaFantasiaSample.mp3). My understanding of the history of this composition is that it began as the main theme from the movie "The Mission" which was composed by Ennio Morricconne (hate trying to spell that). Sarah Brightman asked Ennio if she could turn it into an aria type song and he refused, but she continually badgered him until he allowed it. Who actually did the arrangement and lyrics heard here, I'm not sure, but I know there is a Brightman version out there somewhere. I like this one better.
Adagio for Strings, composed by Samuel Barber (http://pwatts14.googlepages.com/AdagioforStringsSample.mp3). This piece is well-known in pop culture because it was used to great effect in the movie Platoon (I think that's right). It is extremely emotional and heart-achingly beautiful throughout.
Ice Dance, from Edward Scissorhands, composed by Danny Elfman (http://pwatts14.googlepages.com/IceDanceSample.mp3). This score by Elfman is, to me, stunning. Easily his best work to date. Most of the score taken on its own is moving, but this particular scene combined with a very visually beautiful scene in the movie takes my breath away. Elfman is at his best when he isn't trying to mimic others (he is pretty famous for "tributing Bernard Hermann frequently) and this score is beautiful in its simplicity (a simple melody on top of a very simple chord progression).
Ase's Death from Peer Gynt, composed by Edward Grieg (http://pwatts14.googlepages.com/AsesDeathSample.mp3). Composed or sting section only, this elegy is so powerful, I've repeatedly seen it stun rooms of people to silence. One of the more moving experiences of my life was introducing a room full of college students to this piece and hearing the minutes of silence at its conclusion. No one wanted to disturb it. It was amazing.

Troubled singer Sinéad O’Connor has posted an online video saying she’s suicidal — and living in a motel “in the arse end of New Jersey.”
“I’m all by myself. And there’s absolutely nobody in my life except my doctor, my psychiatrist, the sweetest man on earth, who says I’m his hero, and that’s about the only thing keeping me alive at the moment … and that’s kind of pathetic,” the “Nothing Compares 2 U’’ singer says, weeping.
“I am now living in a Travelodge motel in the arse end of New Jersey” — Hackensack, she said.
“I want everyone to know what it’s like, that’s why I’m making this video.
“Mental illness, it’s like drugs, it doesn’t give a s–te who you are, and equally what’s worse, it’s the stigma, it doesn’t give a s–t who you are.
“And suddenly all the people that are supposed to be loving you and taking care of you are treating you like s–t.’’

This one is hard, but if I had to choose a Mt. Rushmore (of course, based on my own preferences):
#40, Dave Matthews Band (6.21.08 at SPAC). This song is a love song from Dave to his wife; it debuted in 1995, was played a few times, and shelved until 1999. It has no set lyrics; it grows as he does, and as their relationship does. This was the first (and only) full-band version this century; it will get me every time.
Dave Matthews Band "#40" 6/21/08 - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0HTFuFzjpo)
No Hard Feelings, The Avett Brothers. It's so simple and hit me at a time when these thoughts began to creep into my head. The first time I ever heard it was during their movie; this is the actual production of the song. Afterwards, they had to leave the studio from all of the emotion of the song itself. I am happy to say I have seen this live, and it affected me as I thought it may.
No Hard Feelings (From The Motion Picture “May It Last: A Portrait of the Avett Brother... - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaU2HvRhCPw)
Thank you (Led Zeppelin), Chris Cornell. It's another song that is simplistic and gorgeous and done so well by Cornell.
thank you by chris cornell ( with lyrics ) - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21BwByeAPck)
Life in Rain (Remy Zero), Howie Day. There is a specific version that I have that I cannot find. The original is a fantastic and beautiful song, but there is something Howie does with his pedal work to create the song before playing it that is mesmerizing.
This is not the version I want to share, but it is quite good.

Other songs in consideration:
Transantlanticism, Death Cab for Cutie
Colour Me In, Damien Rice
Long Long Way, Damien Rice
Details in the Fabric, Jason Mraz
Conrad, Ben Howard
Bud, Fenne Lily
The Ballad of Love and Hate, Avett Brothers
Rootless Tree, Damien Rice
Halloween, Dave Matthews Band (Rootless Tree and this are the angriest, most honest lyrics I've heard in a love song)
This is Happening, Sean Hayes
I wanted to provide some choices that are off the grid. Hopefully, someone finds some new songs here. Or identifies with one of my choices. That would be cool, too.

No specific thread seemed appropriate for the Sinead news below but thought I would attempt bringing this back to life.
If there is anyone on this board living in NJ able to help her, I would be willing to chip in on some expenses.
Sinéad O’Connor is living in a New Jersey motel | Page Six (http://pagesix.com/2017/08/07/sinead-oconnor-says-shes-suicidal-and-living-in-a-motel/?_ga=2.103855424.1395274887.1502142731-289179388.1493575353)
FWIW this is what she is up to now. I don't agree with her 1992 tearing the pic of the pope but definitely wish her well. Somehow I hope she finds peace.
Sinéad O'Connor plans to be a healthcare assistant in wake of COVID-19 (https://www.nme.com/news/music/sinead-oconnor-plans-to-become-a-healthcare-assistant-the-covid-thing-gave-me-more-impetus-2679311)
Sinéad O’Connor has revealed that she is planning to study to become a healthcare worker.
Appearing on Irish TV show The Late Late Show on Friday (May 29), O’Connor said she’s been accepted onto a new college programme.
Speaking to host Ryan Tubridy, O’Connor was asked about her previous comments about wanting to work in hospice care.
“We spoke before about hospice [care] and what you wanted to do with people – kind of befriend them and guide them,” Tubridy said. “Are you thinking of taking that a step further?”
O’Connor replied: “I’ve been accepted onto the course to start in Bray Institute of Further Education in September. So it’s the FETAC Level 5 healthcare support course.”

Had to look up Nadia's theme, it was familiar but didn't remember it. Yeah, it's worthy.

Didn't realize Henry Mancini did Nadia's Theme but I have heard that song from some soap opera to when it was sampled in a Mary J. Blige song "No More Drama". Either way I agree that is a solid song to add.
I know this is personal with each person, but here are a few from me:
Aaliyah - At Your Best (Yes I know this is a remake, but it is a hauntingly beautiful song when she sings this).
Simply Red - Holding Back The Years (been getting a lot of play recently - must be an age thing)
Night Shift - Commodores (my favorite song from them even when they no longer had Lionel Richie).

I Cheat the Hangman - Doobie Brothers
Especially Me - Low
Send Her My Love - Journey
Landslide - Fleetwood Mac
Nothing's Changed - Chris Isaak
Graffiti On The Train - Stereophonics
I know nothing about opera except that it's not my favorite genre. But these two songs really got to me. The singers had such beautiful voices I had to put these on my list.
Duettino Sull'aria Le nozze di Figaro from Shawshank Redemption
Lucia Di Lammermoor from Fifth Element

Several songs that I like have been mentioned thus far, but I'll add these to the mix...
Santo & Johnny - Sleepwalk
Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven
Rolling Stones - Wild Horses, Angie
Neil Young - Heart of Gold
Simon and Garfunkel - America
David Bowie - Starman
Van Morrison - Into the Mystic
Joni Mitchell - River
Gerry Rafferty - Right Down the Line
Dire Straits - Romeo and Juliet
Johnny Cash - Hurt
Foo Fighters - Everlong (acoustic version)
Pearl Jam - Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town
Blind Melon - Soul One
Mazzy Star - Fade Into You
And a bit more exclusive Canadian content (beyond Neil and Joni)...
The Watchmen - All Uncovered (https://youtu.be/Pr_UlE4zYF4)
Blue Rodeo - 5 Days in May (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuUnApNzIz0)

Apparently Mancini wasn't the original. Still fantastic but I'd call it "haunting".
Nadia's Theme - Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadia%27s_Theme)
"Nadia's Theme" is a piece of music composed by Barry De Vorzon and Perry Botkin Jr. in 1971. It became associated with Olympic gymnast Nadia Comăneci during and after the 1976 Summer Olympics. The composition has been used as the theme music to the American television soap opera The Young and the Restless intermittently since the series debuted in 1973. This piece is also used regularly by Steve Wright presenter on BBC Radio 2 Sunday Love songs as a backing bed.
De Vorzon and Botkin Jr. composed this piece of music, originally titled "Cotton's Dream", as incidental music for the 1971 theatrical film Bless the Beasts and Children.
Never watched soaps but here's the Y&R version. Lot's of beautiful people.

Here's the original DeVorzon version (I think). I prefer the Mancini/Y&R version.

I was geeking out about Sam Cooke to my bro-in-law the other day, and he turned me on to Leon Bridges.
If you love Cooke, you need to check out Bridges.
Holy shit! Thank you so much for this recommendation! Leon Bridges is amazing!

This is the 1st list I went through in a long time.
This is a great one that is underrated but fantastic. Probably THE best rock ballad and very beautiful

"My Immortal" - Both the Evanescence original and the cover by One Voice Children's Choir. Side note: Hearing Amy Lee sing and play it live on stage is the most spine-chilling musical moment I've ever experienced
"Maggot Brain" - Funkadelic. Even sober, it's a transcendent piece that takes you out of your current state and somewhere else. On your favorite mind alterant, your mind romps like the mind of God as Gatsby's did pre-Daisy kiss

Just went to a wedding where this was the song the bridal party walked in to. It was beautiful.
There's a girl on TikTok named Miranda Elloway. Her cover of "Both Sides Now" by Joni Mitchell is stunningly beautiful. Look it up if you have time.

I feel like in most cases my tastes are pretty rigid...but what strikes me as 'most beautiful' can probably shift a lot from day to day & how/what I'm feeling (to the point that I've already posted something else in this thread). Some days I might choose this:
