A quick search didnt help me (but did teach me jim is willing to drive very far rather than fly)...

what sites do you guys know for finding cheap airfare?

i know the sidesteps (personal favorite), hotwire, orbitz, travelocity, and every airlines individual sites...but is there a site im missing by chance?

what do you guys use?

I've searched long and far, and haven't been able to improve upon this system in over a year now:

Check sidestep, then southwest and jeblue individually.

The only other things you can do is flexible planning, if possible (traveling midweek or on Saturday, etc).

kayak.com shows a lot of different flights - it was recommended in PC Magazine.

I tried tripstalker once - I personally found it a bit cumbersome, but others have sworn by it...

I second Kayak.com and don't forget Priceline.

Go to your local dive bar around closing, and bump into an old drunk.

I've used yahoo cheap flights, searching with flexible dates. Once you find the exact flight you want you can then usually just go direct to that airline and book that flight for a few bucks less.

Zoom UK, new airline starting in june that offers cheap flights from the states to the UK..awesome for me since I'm in the mil and stationed in the UK...My last set of tickets cost 1700 for my son (1 yr), wife, and me. That's A LOT of money for a A1C!

I bookmarked this site a month or so ago since I will be looking to fly to Seattle later this summer. Check out the comments too, some more good info in there.

FWIW, I'm 100% with Jim on this one. Airlines suck.

The lovely yet formidable Ms. Path swears by Kayak. She gets daily updates emailed to her.

1. Nail a flight attendant.
2. Ask her to get you a ticket.
3. Repeat

When I was flying to Wisconsin two months ago, I used Kayak and Orbitz looking for cheap rates, but the best I found ended up being via United's own website.

I mean, granted, this was LA to Green Bay rather than an airport with more than two baggage claim carousels, but still.

Too much... traffic.

Must... add... servers.

(we're getting very heavy traffic on kayak right now. We're trying to fulfill the existing user queries now. Please check back in a few minutes.)

There's your answer, Professor.

There's your answer, Professor.

Yeah, it's weird that all of a sudden it's having server difficulties.

Wait a minute...it's the 4 o'clock hour on the East Coast. Fucking Oprah must've mentioned it today.
