I've just purchsed FOF 2004 and then downloaded some of the historical player files, but when I start a game, and choose alternate player file, the files I downloaded aren't there as an option for me to load. I've checked the directory and they are in there, but the game doesn't allow me the option of choosing them. What did I do wrong?

Didn't you already post a thread about this?

I'm guessing you just downloaded draft files and at the start of the game it's looking for a roster file, so download a roster file if you haven't already. The only other thing I could think of is you still have the files zipped. (Not sure if the files come zipped or not)

Still don't know what I'm doing wrong guys. I'm clearly dumber than I ever thought!:(
Having purchased the most recent version of FOF (2004), I then downloaded a few of the FOF Historical Rosters onto my desktop, and alternatively into the 'universe' folder in FOF2004 but whan I start the game and choose 'load alternate player file' the fdt files (eg 2006.fdt.zip) can't initially be found anywhere. They come up when I manually type them in but then state that 'The player database has been corrupted or is from the wrong version of Front Office Football. HELP!!
The same happened when I download yabanci's 2006 NFL Roster Pack.
Sorry to be a pain in the neck guys, but could someone please walk me through the entire process of downloading and activating any historical rosters (fdt) or draft files (faf). PLEEEAAASSSEEEE:D
Thank You

My guess is the same as nilodor's: you need to extract the files from the zipped downloads before opening FOF.
Use winzip, or download WinAce (for which I have now exceeded the free 30 day trial by 1129 days without any apparent problem!)
open up the zipped files in one of these applications
choose 'Extract to'
specify the directory where you want them to go - doesn;t matter where as long as you remember where you put them, and you won'y accidentally delete them (speaking from experience here, not patronising!)
Close the application when done
Then in FOF when it asks you where the alternate player file is, navigate to where you've extracted the zipped files and voila!
If this doesn't work, I've got nothing - I'm not knowledgeable enough for anything more :D. Hope this works.

You my friend, ARE A STAR! And I am much, much dumber than I thought. Problem solved, thanks to your step by step explanation.
Thanks so much, the game will be so much more enjoyable with the up-to-date rosters. Thanks again, I've never been able to play with the complete proper players. And thanks to to the guy who created the file, what a gent!
