How much would you pay for Rose Bowl Tickets?

Several of my friends are scrounging to get Rose Bowl tickets. Some have greater incentive (Texas or USC fans) than others. Face value for the tickets starts at $175 (I think up to $275). On Ebay, StubHub, Craigslist, etc., the market for tickets, by contrast seems to start at around $500 per ticket and goes easily above $1500 per ticket.

How much is a ticket to the Rose Bowl worth to you?

For this year's Rose Bowl, I would pay nothing since I have no rooting interest in the game. Even if I imagine my Missouri Tigers playing for a national title in the Rose Bowl, I'm not sure I could muster the interest to pay $175 for a nosebleed ticket.

That said, I certainly don't blanch at people spending that kind of money for a ticket. I think all of us are "dorks" about something. I have more money than I care to count tied up in DVDs and Star Wars collectibles. I know people who spend thousands on their Harley and go to Sturgis every year. They think I'm a dork, and I think the same about them. I don't see anything wrong with being a Rose Bowl dork. :)
