What would be the best way/site/place to buy airline tickets for a group of about 20? I don't need them until right after Christmas, so I've got a while, but I was curious and wanted to start looking around a little. It's been a few years since I've bought plane tickets, so any advice will be appreciated.

With Delta, Northwest and United all in bankruptcy...might be a decent idea to buy from one of the solvent airlines. Or take Greyhound.

With how airlines usually do business, they'll want to charge you more than just 20 single tickets for taking so many people.

Never tried to buy in bulk. Airlines might be able to offer a discount for that. But something like travelocity or expedia are the best ways to go or even subscribe to each individual airline. They tend to send out emails with specials and you might get lucky with your city.
That said, if the tickets are for the Christmas holiday, there's not many discounts to be had.

this is a picture from a guy who was trying to setup a gaming tournament in chicago after talking to American Airlines. So it seems they get 5% off the tickets with 10 or more people, you might want to try to contact them?

Call around. I'm pretty certain all the major airlines do group seating discounts. Might be worth checking with a travel agency as well.

When we went to Vegas, we had about 25 people. Got a nice discount of about $40 each (down to just over $200 with taxes) on America West.

Thanks for the replies. I'm glad to hear that some have gotten group discounts. I have been told by some that there was no way to get any sort of discount for a group, so it's good to hear that isn't always the case. I'll look and call around some, and see what I can come up with. Thanks again, and if anyone else knows of anything else, continue to share.
