I need my fix. With the season starting tonight, I would love to have a pro football sim to play during the week to keep me busy. I have purchased four of the previous FOF games, but did not purchase FOF5 because for some reseason e-license games would not play on my computer. I have just purchased a personal (as opposed to work) laptop and am debating whether I should buy this game or wait and see if a new version is coming out any time soon. What do you think?

Buy now. It's a very good game. And if you're jonsing for it, do it. I do not believe in delaying gratification unless there is a very good reason.

Like, for example, facing jail time if she happens to be under 18. Then you might want to delay gratification. ;)

It's a great game and you would not be disapointed with it. How ever I would wait to see what Jim is going to release next. IMO an anouncment is comming very soon.

Buy now. There is a good chance that Solecismic's next release may not be FOF 6. I would not put off doing something really fun (like playing the latest version of FOF) on the chance that a new game may come out soon.

Yes. That is an excellent example.

I agree - and if memory serves Jim has in the past offered discounts on his new release to folks who have recently purchased the previous iteration of his game.

Ditto. Also, even if it does happen to be FOF6, which I very seriously doubt, Jim offered nice discounts to those who had recently purchased FOF4.

My evil twin & everyone else are correct. It's a fine game and worth buying. My only suggestion is to try the demo first just in case some of the changes aren't to your liking.

With both the NFL and the NCAA in full swing, I seriously doubt you will see any new football sims being released in mid season. So, if you are going to wait, it is going to be a very long wait. Also, I would be a little leary of purchasing any type of Football Game that has a Mid Season release. This would indicate that the developer has taken a couple of wrong turns with their programming and has missed the original release date. This would also be a huge indicator thatthe game may not be ready for release, but was just forced out, ready or not.
But, if I had to guess on a new Football Sim comming out during the Middle of the NFL Season I would put my money on EA's NFL Franchise Sim I keep hearing rumors about.
As far as Solecismic goes, with both the NFL and the NCAA season's underway, I think the window for a new football sim has closed.
Myself, I am hoping that EA's Football Franchise Game is on the way.

Except that Jim routinely releases games in October and even November once.
