The Packers look interested in making Couch a backup. Should anybody be considering bringing Couch in to start this year?

Couch isnt that bad. He probably should sit this year, but in the future he will be a decent starter for someone. The man just got the crap beat out of him year in and year out.

I know multiple Browns season ticket holders who believed that Couch was the least of Clevelands problems.

I think the Giants would have been better off with Couch, than Warner, but that could be my anti-Warner bias. I just don't think Couch ever got a really fair shot for an extended length of time in Cleveland, between injuries and then a QB controversy. I dont think he panned out as a #1 pick, but I don't think he is that bad of a QB either.

Garcia is a *complete* fraud. I can't wait until he bombs with absolutely no talent around him in Cleveland. Couch isn't great, but isn't as bad as everyone makes him out to be.

If a team needs a solid 3 yards and a cloud of dust style quarterback (IE one thats not required to win it with his arm) then take him, otherwise, he's a liability.

he's not a great QB, but with the right team around him, he could do well. he would have done well on the ravens super bowl team.

one thing i want to know is how much did he make the Browns fail because he was a rookie QB asked to do too much too soon and how much did he make them fail because they were an expansion team?

i think he's a lot better than he's been given credit for.

One thing you can say about Couch, he's got very consistent seasonal passing stats over the years, with around 60% completed passes, around 6.5 yards per attempt, about 1 td per game, about 1 interception per game and a passer rating very close to 75.0 (and every season he had a longest between 70 and 80 yards).

He's not a fraud, he's a career overachiever. I wouldn't be surprised if he does better than average. However, I will take the bet that when it starts to snow, he'll be too weak to pick up the heavier football. The Browns offense is going to start to suck (even if it hadn't before) in late Nov. and Dec. Garcia already can't throw long with the SF winds behind him. Think about that when he's throwing in 3 inches of snow.

Couch's issues aren't the numbers. I think they are toughness and leadership. The day he openly cried after the fans booed him, he lost any hope ofhis teammates getting behind him.

Mechanically, he may be a decent QB, but he has nowhere near the toughness that fans and players in Green Bay have grown accustomed to at QB.
