My fiancee and I are moving in together next week. We have been told that we can put our two twin matresses and box springs together into a king size frame and make a king size bed. Is that doable? Does it work? Has anyone heard of this or how we may go about doing it?
Thanks
P.S. She doubted that the football computer game message board would have advice for us on this issue. I am counting on you to prove her wrong and to justify the time I spend here.

Well....I'm pretty sure that they don't sell king size box springs, that if you buy a "king set" you will be getting a king mattress and 2 twin boxsprings. So the dimensions will be right. I think that they sell some sort of a "joiner", which will make the space between two twin matresses less noticeable, but I don't know much about it or where to find one.

have I got a bedroom set to sell you....
(you SHOULD be fine, but not all same sized matresses are the same size. The seperate matresses on top may or may not be a problem, depending on how you two sleep.
Word of advice - always fool around on her side)

Do a google search for 'twin doubler' (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=twin+doubler)

my finace and i have two twins on a king size frame
we have very different tastes in mattresses so we can't have the same and both be happy
we got everything at the same time so it works out

Concur with Cuervo. I have not used a doubler, but have helped other people install them. They work fine.
I don't see what difference it makes, you're living in sin anyway and will be subject to the eternal flesh searing flames of hell. So why not go buy a large, comfortable mattress for now?

That's what I'm talking about.
Thanks, guys.
The "twin doubler." That's the key.

I side benefit is that they will be much easier to move. I have known people that moved into new places and couldn't fit their king sized bed up the steps (to their second story bedroom)...always a nice situation. :)

I'm with your fiancee. I am absolutely shocked anyone around here would know anything about doubling up on twins, especially with HM out of the picture.
*shrug* Who knew?

King size bed box springs are made up of two halves, but i don't think they are twin sized. I think King size it also longer than normal twin size.

I like the twin doubler. The triplet doubler is better, but I'm not going to say no.

Ding ding.
Mrs. Q and I sleep on a monstrous, comfy king mattress... and I completely fell for it when the delivery guys first brought in the box springs.
"Uhhh, fellas... we got a king." :: open mounthed ::
"Yeah, mac. It's in two pieces."
"Oh, right, then." :: recovering elegantly ::
I'm pretty sure that the length of our king is a fair bit beyond that of a twin-- even if the width is exactly twice.
Good luck with the doubler solution.
edit - to remove unwanted emoticon
Somehow I read the title as, "Two twins in a bed kissing".
