Extremely Dirty Little Secret

I have a dirty little secret: I love Extreme Warfare Revenge, a wrestling text simulation. I quit playing the game about 2 years ago because I was moving onto the new Total Extreme Warfare game. Admittedly, I like that series as well -- developed by Adam Ryland -- but not as much as his free game, Extreme Warfare Revenge. I think the reasoning for this is because Extreme Warfare Revenge is much simpler and more focused thereby making it easier to do your simulation thing.

The latest version of Ryland's booker simulation, Total Extreme Warfare 2007 is much more complex and has much more to keep up with. I don't mind that approach and if I could ever find the time I'd love to tackle it again, but I can't deal with the slow pacing that Total Extreme Warfare 2007 puts you through.

Call me a simplest, but Extreme Warfare Revenge got it right. It is really easy to pick up and play but allows for more than enough strategy to avoid being called shallow. It is much easier to deal with and I am now on my fifth month of my new game after about 4 days of playing. Extreme Warfare Revenge has what I want in a wrestling promoter simulator, simple as that.

Right now I am managing an upstart federation with fictional created workers to start off with, and my goal is to become the biggest promotion in the game. Right now I'm a regional federation with a 48% public image. For those of you not in the know, that means I'm about 3 levels up of 6 and I'm halfway to going up another. See the simplicity at work here?

What's even better, at least to me, is how simple it is to book a show. You pick from 3 different segments to fill in 6-10 spots on a card depending on how big and what type of show you are running. You pick the participants, who wins, who says what and so forth, and then you see how well you did. You can manage feuds and do just about everything under the sun to run your promotion on a basic level; in other words, you are Vince McMahon.

The coolest thing to me is buying out smaller promotions when you start to grow. I have done this a few times in the past so I can grow and really start raking in money.

This game is simply put an absolute blast to play, and it proves gameplay is more important than graphics any day of the week.

One thing that continually surprises me is how many people have never heard of Extreme Warfare Revenge who would otherwise love to play it. I'm going to be an extremely nice individual and post a link at the end of this article for those of you who are now interested in playing the game. So without further adieu...Extreme Warfare Revenge version 4.2:
